I?m writing this review to highlight the very poor customer service and communication from WCC and eventual firing as our roofers.
On May 15, 2015, WCC came and gave us a bid on a small roof on the entrance way into our house. Pete, who was the sales person who came out to do the bid, told me they were busy and it would be one to two weeks before I received the bid. I was also told that the wait time once we got on the schedule was about four weeks before they could come and do the work. After four weeks of waiting for the bid I called WCC to ask where it was. The receptionist/scheduler said she would need to call Pete and get back to me. She called me back and said Pete hadn?t done the bid yet (it had been four weeks and I was told one to two weeks!). She said I would receive the bid this week.
After receiving the bid around mid-June, I sent in a deposit of $924, which was one-third of the total bid amount of $2,772. About a week after I mailed in the deposit, I hadn?t heard from WCC. I assumed they would let me know when they were scheduled to come out. So I called WCC when they were planning to start on our roof. I was told they were planning on coming out around July 23. I was going to be on vacation so I asked them to postpone until August 4. I was told they would come out then.
When August 4th rolled around they did not show up or let me know what was going on. Thinking they may be a little behind I gave them some time to contact me. On Thursday August 6, I called and asked where the roofing crew was. The lady I spoke to said the regular scheduler was out but that someone had changed the date from Tuesday August 4 to Tuesday August 11. Since the scheduler was out she didn?t know why.
August 11 rolls around and still no roofing crew. I called WCC around 8:45am to make sure the crew was still scheduled to come out. I was told they were on the schedule to be at our house all day. Around 10:00am, the receptionist/scheduler called me and said the crew was behind on a job and they were now scheduled to come out Friday August 14. I was upset about all the changes, especially when they were prepared to come out July 23. The receptionist/scheduler asked if I would like the sales person (Pete) to call me to discuss it. I said yes. I never heard from Pete.
Friday August 14 comes around and still no roofing crew. I called Pete and express my frustration at the continued delay in working on our roof. Pete said Colton (spelling?) was coming to our house today to discuss what needed to be done. When I spoke to Colton he said he needed to get the materials but he would be out tomorrow (Saturday August 15) or Monday (August 17) at the latest.
On Saturday August 15, Colton and his dad came out to start on the roof. They left within one hour. I had plastic covering the roof to prevent leaks. They removed the plastic and took off the rubberized roofing material the previous owners put on over the original metal roof. They also removed some of the step flashing but not all, as they were supposed to. They put what they claim was self-adhesive ice and water barrier over the original metal roof. I dispute it was the ice and water barrier as I wanted.
I went outside to inspect the ?work? and was disappointed. It looked as if they just put on tar paper or modified bitumen. I called Pete to say the material they put down did not look like ice and water barrier and they did a poor job putting the material down. The material they put down did not cover the whole roof and was sloppily put up against the house where the step flashing was. And they nailed through it to hold it down. You don?t need to nail down self adhesive ice and water barrier. I also noticed some of the material they put down was lose and did not appear to be secured to the roof. I peeled the piece back and saw they left the backing material on the self-adhesive modified bitumen. So it wasn?t even secured to the roof properly. They claimed it was ice and water barrier but even if it was they installed it incorrectly by leaving the self-adhesive backing on. The workmanship was poor to say the least.
On Monday August 17, I waited for the roofing crew to show up so I could discuss the material they put down and make sure we were on the same page. The roofers did not show up and no one called me to let me know when they were going to show up and finish the job. I called Pete again to ask when the crew was going to show up to finish the job. Pete said they were having trouble getting the material they needed to finish the roof. Our roofing job has been on the schedule since mid-June and they planned on coming out July 23. They should already have had the materials. I told Pete I was not confident they could do the job and do it properly given what I had experienced and seen regarding the workmanship. I asked Pete for my deposit back and received it. I showed Pete the pictures of the crew leaving the self-adhesive backing material on and he mentioned it to the owner who was in the room. The owner just shrugged and didn?t say anything. That tells you the degree to which they care about their customers.
