All they were interested in was selling new a furnace and air conditioner. ?They put in the wrong Freon.? They overcharged the unit and it leaked out all over. The system kept shutting down.? ?Another company came out and said everything was fine but it was because of the wrong Freon.? We had previously used them for 10 years. ?The technician that was good has retired. They read my review and refunded my money and apologized for everything.
Response from Advantage Air LLC.
"Mr & Mrs [Member name removed]- Our interest is never in "selling new equipment". Our interest is in customer satisfaction. We did not put in the wrong freon. We put in R22 which is correct for your system. We did, however, overcharge the unit. We are human and made a mistake. For that we sincerely apologize. We will be refunding the charges for the R22 plus the charge to return. Our Sr. Technician Don did not "leave" the company he retired from the industry. Thank you for your feedback. It will be very helpful in all future technician training at Advantage Air."

The only glitch (a very minor glitch) was the technician drove past my place in the subdivision and had to call to find out where I was.  I was told he would be here at 8am and he was.  Mike was very professional and helpful.  The people I talk to on the phone are helpful.  I will continue using them.

The foremost difference between Advantage Air and three other providers from which I requested proposals was the level of communication provided me. My position is that I am not an HVAC expert but that I want my curiosity and understanding maximized before making such and important spend. Advantage Air responded with diligent interest in my business and fulfilling my curiosities.
The bidding process by all the providers concluded that we remain with an 80% technology unit, due to the extreme difficulty of potentially venting a higher rating system. This allowed us to vent through our existing flue.
Advantage Air seemed to be the most interested bidder when it came to measures of reducing noise made by the HVAC system. Their willingness to take measures to accomodate that goal was met without my needing to perform preparations myself, which would have been necessary if contracted with other providers, or by higher costs charged by others for these measures.
The new system and the measures taken by Advantage Air successfully reduced the temperature differential between our floors. Over the years we have added roof venting and a second zone to our home--provided with a room addition, but we still had a temperature differential that made temperature control a constant battle. Now the differential is quite minimal, and completely hands free. It looks like the only tasks required of us now are filter cleaning and resetting our systems for our being away.
I highly recommend Advantage Air. I think that you will find them to be highly communicative and quite fair-minded.

"[member name removed]- We were thrilled to help you every step of the way with your choice of equipment and efficiency to the completed installation. Our goal is 100% client satisfaction with all installations, recommendations and repairs we make. Thanks for taking the time to rate us on Angie's List and thanks for your kind words."

They were very prompt and responsive. I think they gave us a good price. They were having some issues with a humidifier that they installed, it has still not been adequately addressed after following up with them 3 times. They don't seem to know that product very well. We'd use them again for certain things.

I spent about $2,000 or $3,000 on that work. They were very neat and put down a throw rug to track dirt around. They finished the work on time. They were a good company and treated us well. They did exactly what they said they would do. We did not really shop for price too much.

I called for a winter HVAC inspection. They identified a busted thingy and recommended we get a CO detector. They scheduled the repair for two days later, the day before Thanksgiving. A few hours later it was fixed. But then the CO detector started going off. Troy came into the city from West County to give me one of his personal digital CO detectors so we could identify the degree/nature of the problem the night before the holiday. The CO detectors showed low levels of CO and they sent someone out right away to make sure it wasn't a problem with the work they had done; again, no charge. They said that the basement venting wasn't ideal and it should be repiped. I did that and they came in way under estimate. All was well. Then the heat went out again. They came out the very next day and spent four hours rattling in the basement. Rather than replace the same thingy again, they negotiated with the manufacturer and installed a brand new HVAC for me; no charge!
