Copas Asphalt and Paving

The original estimate of $1400 to seal our driveway was the highest of the four companies we had talked to, and we didn't plan to deal with Copas Asphalt  Then one day, Bob Copes (owner) called to say they were working a commercial job in town and since everything was already  here, they would do the job for $1000.  Two guys showed up that very afternoon and put down a very light coat of sealer and started to pack up. My husband called Bob's cell phone and reminded him that he had said it would be at least two coats. He was agreeable and told the guys to put down another coat.  They put down a little more spray-on sealer and Bob dropped by to see how things were going. He left and the guys were packing up when my husband called Bob again to remind him that the price had included filling some of the holes where the asphalt had come completely out. Again, Bob was agreeable. So they plopped some chunks of asphalt patch in a few spots, and patted it down with the back of a shovel, leaving the patch well above the driveway surface.  Almost none of the original cracks were filled in, weeds were growing through this "seal" within three weeks. The only thing accomplished was to give the cracked and pitted driveway a darker finish.  We called Bob at least six times (that we have notes on) over the next two months. Each time, he seemed concerned and said he would come and look at the driveway.   Each time we called back, he "explained" why he hadn't come to look at the job and would give us another timeframe for his coming, but never showed. The last message was left on his answering machine in mid-November and we never heard back from him at all.  The job was beyond shoddy and not at all what had been described as the work in the original estimate.   The Facebook page for the company shows a beautiful smooth driveway...that's not at all what we got!
