We are building a new home. A friend of our family who works in excavation recommended Mr. York to us. We are told he does an excellent job reinforcing the foundation, pours extra thick walls, etc. So we trusted the friend and used him without checking around. We were in a hurry to get things going after all. It took him approximately 3 weeks to finish the foundation. I have worked for builders in the past, and know that it does not take that long. We had to call every couple days just to find out where he was & what was going on. Finally, when he finished and removed the forms, we had some honeycomb spots in the foundation. He agreed to repair them and came back a couple weeks later to do so. When it came time to pay, I gave him a check and trusted him when he said the girl at the concrete plant wasn't in that day to give him a lien waiver and he would bring it to me on Monday when she got back. That was about a month ago and I keep calling him about it. He claims he will bring it by, but never shows. In addition, when my framers showed up they told me that the anchor bolts needed to be sticking out of the foundation at least 2" for them to use. Mr. York had left most of them only up about 1 1/2". I will give him credit for coming back to fix this item. I was afraid I would have to pay the framers to drill and install all new anchor bolts. At this moment I just wish to be finished with Mr. York. He has a truck still sitting on my property that he will not move. At least he left the keys in it. My husband had to move it so our water and electric line could be dug. We have called him time and time again to come take his truck and bring the lien waiver with no luck. I have resorted to calling all of the concrete plants in the area to find where he got the concrete from and to find out if he paid for it. I haven't found it yet and many of them are telling me that he is not even allowed to have an account with them anymore because he does not pay his bills. I'm a little freaked out right now. Please save yourself the headache and don't use York Concrete!
