after going over home plans for several weeks, dan roberts tried to changed my plans at every turn and kept going up on price and using cheaper quality materials. he poured my slab too small and not the right shape in the kitchen area. every time we spoke he was very defensive and angry and kept asking me "do you think i'm a liar and a cheater". i would get this reaction every time i asked him a question. when he called me one evening and told me he is not doing certain features and doorways to the home, features that were in the plan and had been discussed for weeks, he changed his mind and decided he did not want to build my home like agreed on our contract. the next day we went to the bank to let them know what had occurred. to find out he was friends with the lender at arvest in anderson who allowed him to pull out a total of $54,000. when he was only supposed to had withdraw $18,000. needless to say we were devastated. the lender since had been fired. the bank had gotten some of the money back. but not all we were entitled too. the only reason we got some of the money back was because we had to sign a form to agree not to sue dan roberts. we did not want to, but we wanted to get our house going again that we were already making payments on. a very bad experience. beware of this builder.
