Window Cleaning
I was worried about talking to the company to schedule a contractor coming to my house, but the company did manage to communicate that I did not wish for him to ring the doorbell when he arrived. The contractor was EXTREMELY nice, gracious, considerate, and talkative without being distracted or too talkative. He told me every move he was going to make (inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs) before he made it and he removed his shoes whenever he was inside without being asked. He was very, very nice to work with, particularly with all my children home.
I do not care for the way this company does business (we're in your neighborhood tomorrow, hard-sell, over the phone, offering deals that do not include everything that you will eventually need, not doing the work themselves), but I do not have the luxury of doing my own windows or paying a higher price than they offer, and, in our case, the contractor himself made the experience positively pleasant.

Window Cleaning
The "technician" came early, so I wasn't yet home. When I pulled up to my house, I noticed that several of our window screens were down and propped against my house, but no one was there. I checked my windows and found that the glass was washed and squeegeed (though, not well). The window sills, frames and tracks were still filthy. I called the company to ask where the technician was and when he/she would return. They told me that the job was likely complete and to look for a bill under my doormat. I told them that there was no way I would call this job complete, as everything was still dirty and the screens were not rehung. They said they would contact the technician, find out what was going on and ask him to return to my house so I could "point out each of his mistakes." They didn't call me back, like they said they would. But, about 30 minutes later, the "technician" (a very nice, but extremely unprofessional young man in a tiny car with no ladder) returned, asking what else I needed him to do. I pointed out the dirt on all the sills. He said that he could "go ahead" and wipe those down for me (as if he were doing extra to go above and beyond!). After he wiped them down (also not very well), he asked if there was anything else. I didn't even mention the 4 windows on our loft, as he had no ladder. I told him to rehang the screens (duh!), so he did (except for the one he missed). Then he came back for my payment. It was a terrible cleaning job, ABSOLUTELY NOT SPOTLESS, but, at this point, I was just ready to be done with this situation. I had wanted to pay in cash, but he said I wouldn't be able to, which was an inconvenience for me. Check only. But then he told me that if I wanted to leave a tip, cash only, please. And that was it. I never heard anything from the company; no calls to check on my satisfaction; nothing.

Window Cleaning
Worst company ever. Where received a cold call from them with a really good price and accepted the offer. The worker showed up promptly as schedule.
From there it was all down hill. My wife had explained that we had a 2 story walk out and that the back windows were very high. So, the first thing the worker says is, "My ticket says I need a 30 ft ladder but I don't have one". This is the moment that explains why I am not a really successful person. There was a chance at this point to make a wise decision and decline there service. I did not. Instead, I made the idiotic statement, "Oh, I have one". I won't fill in all the details but about the poor job of washing the windows and that I thought he was going to kill himself at the very peak of the ladder (to the up side, he was a brave soul), because that is not the worst of the story and I am already tired of typing.
During the initial contact, my wife had explained that we had brand new hardwood floors (literally) and that she was very concerned. They assured her that there would be no issue and that they put booties on they ladders and took extra precaution blah blah blah.
So eventually the worker makes his way to the great room which have the new floors and a two story ceiling. I happen to walk into that room at precisely that moment and see him start to set up a ladder without booties or any other protection. He explained that he does it this way all the time and there will be no issue. Given a second opportunity to demonstrate my wisdom, what do I say? Well it looks like a bad idea to me, but if you say so.
One would not think it so, but truly, less than 20 seconds passed and he tried to set up the ladder and slid it across the floor scratching it. Didn't see that coming did ya? At this point I kicked him out and called the company. Unbelievably, the gave me the obligatory we're so sorry followed by, "how many windows did they finish? So we can give you a discount." I said, "really?". I had to explain that the worker would be leaving without money and that I needed to know what was the process to have them repair my floor.
Once again to leave out numerous details, I called them literally about a dozen times and had 3 or 4 email exchanges. Each time being unable to reach a decision maker or being told by a decision maker that they thought it had already been taken care of. Although I did receive one email response, I never received a single return phone call. In the end they won. They wore me out. I am in St. Louis and their headquarters is in Dallas. In the end I thought all the trouble of taking them to small claims would probably be useless as it would be hard to enforce a judgement.
It is now 5 months later. I am still waiting for the return phone call.

Window Cleaning
A man called me and immediately started his little chat. I tried to interrupt him, but no luck. Finally I asked him to Quit Talking in a loud voice, then asked him to remove me from his call list, and he hung up on me.

Window Cleaning
This company cold-called me and said they would clean all of my exterior windows for $169, and all the interiors for an additional $80. They did not ask how many windows I had. Figuring that this came to about $6 per window, I thought it was a good deal. I expected it may be too good a deal, and I was right. They promptly set up an appointment, for 1 pm on a day convenient for me. At 11 am, I was leaving the house, their window washer arrived -- two hours early. I had to cancel my lunch plans, and since there was only one guy, had to help him most of the afternoon. He was very friendly and enthusiastic at first, but as the project progressed he got increasingly upset at the amount of work involved. He thought it would only take a couple of hours, but it ended up taking six. I had to help him get the screens out and back in to all the second story windows, and slide the triple track storm windows out. The windows got clean, and I got my money's worth, but had to invest my own time and effort too.
