Hotwire failed St. Louis County electrical inspection 3 times, on our kitchen update. Show up consistently late on the job.

They came and gave me an appraisal and were able to pull the permits and get the work done on the day I needed it done. They worked quickly and had my electric back on within 4 hours which is not bad considering I had to have an inspection by my city first.
Description of Work: Meter base and breaker panel replacement.

Work that was originally supposed to be completed in 1 week took 4 weeks to complete. The worst part of my relationship with this company was their failure to pull a permit and arrange for inspection of their work on completion. Repeated attempts to get them to address this over the past 6 months have failed (no response to my emails and phone messages).
Description of Work: I contracted with Hotwire Electric to replace the knob and tube wiring in my old house.

Hotwire Electric Co (St. Louis) was hired by our general contractor to provide electrical work for our kitchen remodel. Our contractor said the work should take 4 to 5 days and it took Hotwire about 9 days for the electrical service. FACT: their work failed St. Louis County electrical inspection not once, but on 3 separate occasions. They had a written contract with our general contractor for the work and billed our contractor for an amount above their written contract. When our general contactor refused to pay them the excess, the owner of the company called to tell me that they would file a lien against our home, even though I did not contract with them for the work. If your contractor wants to use Hotwire Electric, I would have a conversation with your contractor.

UPDATE: 8/1/2013. Their customer service gets worse. To correct the issue that they had below, they came back out and did the work at my contractor's insistence. He contracted for the work. When we were done, we paid the contractor for all the last of the work which included the last bill from this company. The contractor didn't pay them. They called me about it. I explained the situation. Now, after obviously not getting their money from my contractor, they sent a lien notice to us. They indicated when I spoke with them that they didn't like dealing with my contractor because he was nasty to them. So now that they can't collect, they are trying to go after us...just because they are scared. They have sent threatening letters. Their issue is with my contractor but they won't deal with him because they just don't like him. That's what I get I guess for trying to be reasonable when I explained the issue on the phone. I hope you never make the mistake of dealing with this company. Obviously, if you post a bad review as I did, they retaliate. Buyer beware. At first, all went fine with the arrangements made with our contractor, but when it came time to complete the work, the individual stood at the bottom of our basement steps and screamed up at us to come talk to him. My wife was on a call and didn't hear him so he became frustrated and demanded she write him a check (that was acceptable since he was also suppposed to be installing an additional subpanel per our request..not part of the original contract). He made her get off the phone to deal with him. Our contractor had indicated in advance that we would need an additional subpanel so that was known and communicated in advance prior to the individual coming out. I personally had a conversation with him when he arrived going over all the particulars about the subpanel, the lights, the additional wiring for a future finish in the basement. He confirmed that he heard from the contractor the same information. So, if I tell him something and he confirms he heard the same from the contractor, then the natural assumption is that we are on the same page. Aside from the wiring for lights, none of the additional work was completed. Our contractor called the company and was told that it was a communication error. And they would be out to correct the issue. They didn't show up the day they said they would or the next day. Our drywall guys knew a different guy at the company and called him to come out and correct the issue. When all was said and done, the subpanel was put right next to the main panel, which is not where it was supposed to go or even the best place for it to go. It was terrible placement. And then, despite the fact that they dropped the ball on getting some prewiring for future expansion which they agreed to do first, they flat out refused to do it even before the drywall was completed. When assessing the issue, they indicated that no one ever told them about the subpanel or additional wiring and that's why it wasn't done. Instead of simply owning up to the fact that they dropped the ball, they tried to shift the blame back to our contractor, then to us. I can't recommend them for any work. Update: It has been 2 days since the work was done and our master bedroom circuit keeps blowing. It happened 10 times yesterday and since there is nothing being done to the master bedroom, this is likely due to the electrical work done. Our contractor is assessing whether to have them come out and repair since the work should be covered or just biting the bullet and paying a better company to come fix their mess. Likely we'll have to eat the bill but it's hard to trust they will do the right thing.
Description of Work: The provider was a subcontractor for our basement remodel. They were to provide electrical services typical of finishing a basement including providing lighting and outlets.

Response from Hotwire Electric Co Inc
We are sorry that this customer feels the way he does. First off, the particular Electrician that was on the job is well loved by all of our customers, so we were truly concerned about this complaint. He did not "scream up the steps" for them to come and talk to him, but asked that they come to him as the additional subpanel placement could not be put where the contractor wanted it due to code compliance. This work was completed on time and when the customer was told it would be. Upon completion, as is our policy, our electrician asked if he could receive payment as this particular contractor took six months to make payment on the last work done for him. Our electricians are honest, polite and knowledgeable. We regret the misfortune working with this contractor has caused to both the customer and to the good name our electricians represent.
