They would stop by once a quarter for about 15 minutes and spray the outside of my house, then leave. I saw no reduction in pests. I cancelled and they charged me $160 (the cost of the initial treatment they said for free. It's supposedly in the "contract" the slick salesman makes you sign when you sign up. I never saw it, nor was it explained to me. Just that I could cancel any time. I called and talked to someone and they were supposed to have a manager call me, but they never did. Do not sign a contract with this company. Find a pest control service that's local, fair and will treat inside and outside of your home with every visit. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I'm almost $400 in the whole for 3 useless treatments. Stay away.

They appeared to be thorough, but we didn't see any reduction in spiders or other pests. The only thing we saw a reduction in was the birds and squirrels we like to feed. We talked with the company and claim their chemicals do not affect other wildlife and that may be true ... but it definitely caused them to stay away for awhile. After the one treatment which we were not satisfied with we continued to try to get them to stop. Hidden in the fine print of what they have you sign is that there is a minimum charge for their services so even if you cancel after the first treatment, you remain on the hook for $200. This is a national chain and looking at other complaints on the internet, this is a common practice of theirs where they engage in high pressure sales tactics to get your signature on a contract. I would never recommend a company that engages in these tactics. Since they do use these tactics, I would not trust their integrity for anything they do.

John H. was early, and went to work right away. He took extra time with two wasp nests. Overall, he was professional, courteous, and efficient.
His colleague, Brooklyn, our original contact from her canvassing the neighborhood, Brooklyn was a great representative for Alterra, explaining the benefits of the company and the special offer that was available ($89 per quarter with no $$ down).
We'd highly recommend this company.

Alterra does a great job regularly treating our outdoor property so that pests do not come into our home. You do not need to be home since the service is done outside. However, they are always polite and knowledgeable. If you have problem areas or concerns they are taken care of.

The initial treatment at $69.00 went well however, I am still finding ants both inside and outside the home. I was told the initial treatment kills approximately 70% of the pests and to notify them if I find bugs/ants inside the house after a two week waiting period. Alterra will be back for quarterly service calls at $99.00 each. My verdict is still out on this company. I will provide additional feedback after the next treatment.

they exterminated the outside of the house for all kinds of bugs, fleas, bees. hornets etc. Jerry W and Taylor C were very professional and explained exactly what they were going to do, how long it would take and what I could expect over the next couple of days. They gladly answered all my questions.

After their first two applications, we no longer saw ants in the house in the summer (something that was common beforehand). They have always been very professional and their customer service is great! They worked with us when canceling the service due to a move out of their service area. I highly recommend Alterra.

The first time they sprayed our home they sprayed the furniture and left a film on it but I explained it to the tech the next visit and it did not happen again.

It looks like it was a thorough job. All the spider webs, mud daubers, and egg sacs were removed from around doors and in corners, even places that I didn't know I had them. He said he will be back in 30 days to spray again for the egg cycle. So far, this is better than the service from our last company. Justin O. was a very considerate, plleasant person.

I bought a year-long pest control package from the door-to-door sales team (4 treatments for $99 each). They were friendly and professional. I did notice however, that the results were not any better than my previous company who came twice a year for $60. So in March, when I received an email that I was scheduled for a treatment, I called the office to find out how many treatments I had left in my contract. The woman I spoke with said the March treatment was the last, and I asked if they treatments would continue or if they would stop. She told me they would stop.
June 19th at 2pm I got an email saying that Alterra was coming the next day to do another treatment. I tried to call the number provided in the email but the call was not answered and it did not give me an option to leave a voicemail. So I replied to email stating they should not do the treatment. Alterra did the treatment the next day and charged my credit card $99.00.
They have a feedback link in their email so I filled out the form and typed all of this up, stating I wanted a refund. This was a couple of weeks ago and I never heard any response.
Today 7/10 I called the office and asked them to refund the $99. I was told that I signed a contract that said service would continue unless I cancelled it in writing. I explained that I had called and was told something different on the phone, and that I had contacted the company to halt the last treatment but I had never received any response. The woman I spoke to said she would pass my information along to her manager, but said that a refund probably was not going to happen because I signed the contract. She also commented that it had been a month since the last treatment (insinuating tht my complaint was somehow less valid?) and I reminded her that I have contacted the company several times regarding this.
I am very dissapointed that I received incorrect information when I called Alterra about the status of my contract. If I had been given correct information, I would have submitted the cancellation in writing as was required. I was also very dissappointed with the response I got from the woman I spoke with on 7/10, telling me it was a month ago and a refund probably wasn't going to happen because I signed the contract, when clearly she is not the person who can make the decision.
This issue is not yet resolved - my inquiry is supposed to be submitted to the branch manager.
Update : this issue was resolved. The company called and refunded my $99. Very much appreciated. Thanks.

On time, personable, explained what they were going to do, did a little extra work around the screen porch area for me (my request), and explained carefully when they'd be out next. Warned me that I might temporarily see a few bugs around (escaping the treatments) and we did, but that has ended. They will be back in a month, then on the quarterly treatments. Overall, very pleased. Solid service, didn't seem 'fly by night" at all, which worried me when the salesman came to the door. I DID tell the salesman I'd be checking with Angie's List and other sites before they came -- did, the reviews were mainly good -- and I was pleased with the results. If all goes well, will continue with this company for some time.
