They were really nice and were efficient. They got back with the quote pretty quickly even though it was thanksgiving. It was to remodel my two bathrooms and some doors that I wanted redone downstairs. The total was around twelve thousand dollars.
LC is a and quot;full-serviceand quot; remodeling provider. They took our overall vision for the job and added their suggestions which were right on the mark, and created drawings, a work schedule and a bid that were clear winners among bidders. LC finished the work on cost and on schedule ... amazing! Because LC had done their homework (identifying all work tasks and new hardware/appliances/etc) in the design phase, the cost and schedule were never an issue. Several times during the work, LC's suppliers/subcontractors delivered wrong parts, or were not delivered per schedule, or work done incorrectly. LC was right on it, fixed the issue, and adapted in such a way that the final product, cost or schedule was not impacted.
Their focus was clearly on a) providing the remodeling vision, and b) minimizing the impact to us as they worked day-to-day. We were in-the-loop at all times during the work, knew what was to be done, when and by whom.
The work has been finished several weeks now. All is great!
And by the way, Jeannie and Keith Liston, along with their crews, are welcome in this house anytime. I think they left proud of their work ... we are.
Update 1/1/2014:
Responding to Liston's feedback; :
I did not get any significant discount on the patio work, and that wasn't the only work that was shabby. The handrailing on the steps, steps that Liston added to the deck, is way too flimsy to be safe. It is supported by a post at the bottom of the steps that is only setting on rebar, not physically tied to the concrete, so it is not solid. The rail needs a post half way up to be safe. I'll but that in myself when I convert the deck to a maintenance free deck and replace that flimsy handrail. Do you think a 13'6and quot; 2X6 mounted vertically for a handrail without any support halfway down is solid? It moves so much side to side when you grab it half way up the steps that if someone heavy falls into it there, I fear it will totally fail.
As far a following other codes, they didn't even install the required hurricane clips on the deck roof until the county inspector made them. The inspector later told me that the originally installed steps with the downspout in front would not have passed inspection. Since I had to pay 300.00 more to have the longer treads installed, I paid for something that I shouldn't have had to. He also got a lot of extra money out of me by billing me much more money, double what he allowed in his estimate for electrical work. He also told the BBB that the issues were resolved to my satisfaction, which wasn't true. So who is the liar??? I did NOT report false information to the BBB, and I made it clear to the BBB after I saw it marked resolved that it was not resolved to my satisfaction. I was just tired of dealing with it.
"The project reviewed here occurred in January of 2006, not April of 2009 as reported by the homeowner. We completed a finely crafted project. We obtained all necessary building permits, and delivered as promised. I admit that the concrete patio (which we subcontracted out)had some flaws in it, in which we gave a substantial discount to the homeowner. He had the option of tearing it out, but he opted for the discount. The homeowner, for some reason, continues to falsify information on this project. He reported to the BBB false information which I proved otherwise to the BBB, which is why they marked the issue resolved. As members can see on the rest of our reports, we are an honest and trustworthy company, that performs high quality workmanship and delivers the highest in customer service. Sadly, this homeowner has chosen to mislead and misinform the public continually."
