It went well. Keith is very personal and professional. He listened to what we wanted, made very helpful suggestions and designed an excellent floor plan His crew was also very personal and professional and did a great job throughout the project. Their communication from start to finish was very good. They started the project on time and ended on time.

They are very good.  They live in the area and I know them and it helps when you know someone.  They do a good job and they clean up after themselves.  The people and the sub-contractors who always come in are very nice and prompt and so forth.

They were really nice and were efficient. They got back with the quote pretty quickly even though it was thanksgiving. It was to remodel my two bathrooms and some doors that I wanted redone downstairs. The total was around twelve thousand dollars.

We were pointed to Liston Construction (LC) via Angie's List ... thanks.
LC is a and quot;full-serviceand quot; remodeling provider. They took our overall vision for the job and added their suggestions which were right on the mark, and created drawings, a work schedule and a bid that were clear winners among bidders. LC finished the work on cost and on schedule ... amazing! Because LC had done their homework (identifying all work tasks and new hardware/appliances/etc) in the design phase, the cost and schedule were never an issue. Several times during the work, LC's suppliers/subcontractors delivered wrong parts, or were not delivered per schedule, or work done incorrectly. LC was right on it, fixed the issue, and adapted in such a way that the final product, cost or schedule was not impacted.
Their focus was clearly on a) providing the remodeling vision, and b) minimizing the impact to us as they worked day-to-day. We were in-the-loop at all times during the work, knew what was to be done, when and by whom.
The work has been finished several weeks now. All is great!
And by the way, Jeannie and Keith Liston, along with their crews, are welcome in this house anytime. I think they left proud of their work ... we are.

Liston Construction seem to be doing a really good job. I have had a couple of neighbors that come up to talk to them to do things for them too. Even the roofer that came to our house was impressed by them. And, if you impress people that is in the business, I think it's a good sign. They do a great job, they are personable and show up on time. If I had something else to do, I would definitely use them.

Keith Liston met with my wife in November to discuss our kitchen remodel. From the beginning, she felt Keith understood what we were trying to accomplish and conveyed confidence in being able to handle our biggest need which was the removal of a wall and putting in a bay window to give us needed room in the eat in portion of the kitchen. Based on our meetings with Keith and the strong reviews on Angie's List, we made the decision to hire Liston Construction. From the beginning it was a very pleasant experience. Keith's lead carpenters, Craig and Steve, were excellent. They were always on time and did a fantastic job. All of the subcontractors (counters, electrical, plumbing, painters, tile, etc.) also did a great job. Jeanne Liston also was very helpful in assisting my wife with all of the design choices, helping her with cabinet choices, paint colors, tile design, etc. We are absolutely thrilled with the results and would recommend Liston Construction to anybody considering a remodeling project.

Very good experience from start to finish. From the initial estimate to the final touch-ups, Keith and his team take their time to get it right the first time. Being fairly new to the construction processes, my wife and I had several questions along the way and Keith was quick to answer them. We will certainly consider Liston Construction for any future projects we may have, as they go the extra mile to make sure you're happy.

Kieth Liston visited the house multiple times and also met with me near my office (whatever was the most convenient for me at the time) after I contacted the company after reading other reviews on Angie's List regarding additions. He was always punctual and prompt with responses to emails, and after a few meetings and visits, quickly had a budget estimate put together for the project. After comparing Liston's estimate to other contractors' and more meetings to make sure we were on the same page, we chose Liston Construction to perform the work. It took a few weeks to get the first design architectural drawings, but the design drawings were included in Liston's price, which I found valuable, as most other general contractors do not include architectural or design services. Once we agreed on the basic design, further detailed revisions were made to the drawings fairly quickly, and Keith took care of obtaining the necessary permits. Liston's foundation subcontractor broke ground at the beginning of October '09, but that month was one of the rainiest on record...so in actuality, we consider construction to have started early Nov 09. Liston and the subcontractors worked throughout the entire winter, minus only about 3 weeks total (due to weather conditions and utility company delays, no fault of Liston Constr.), and the additon was substantially complete by late March '10. Throughout the entire process, Keith was extremely accessible via email, text message, and phone, and didn't seem to mind the occasional contact on weekends and evenings, or even when he was out of town. He was always very friendly and down-to-earth, yet very knowledgeable and ready to answer our questions. The finished product is solidly constructed, never a shortcut taken; quality of workmanship is top-notch and matched the existing house very well, inside and out. One nice surprise: the company not only hired a cleaning service to clean the finished addition, they cleaned the entire house! And finally, Keith and his subs were perfectly willing to come back and not only correct a very few minor issues, but do a little extra trim work here and there, where it made sense, at no extra cost to us. We very highly recommend Liston Construction for anyone looking for house addition and remodeling work.

They were all very professional and we were extremely pleased. We had some guy come in and give us some weird situation with licensing, so we didn't go with him. I looked him up on Angie's List and he had great recommendations so we used him. He always answered and responded when I had to change things. They had great attention to detail. I only wish the builders had as much attention to detail as he did.

Overall we had no complaints with Keith and Liston Construction in fact nothing but praises. We were treated in a professional and courteous manner not only by Keith but all those who came into our home to complete these projects. My wife and I had no problems or worries in leaving Keith in charge of our home while we were working. From the day we met with Keith to discuss our options till the day the work was completed we new where we stood with the projects process and completion date even when we through him a curveball or two during the construction. They even took the initiative to replace a broken doorknob on our garage door that has been on my honey do list for several months. We would recommend Liston Construction to anyone looking for quality service and workmanship. Thanks for everything Liston Construction and keep up the good work!

Liston Construction completed this work for us several years ago but wanted to give them some credit on Angies List because we are so please with the results. We moved into a new older home and wanted to give it a more updated open look in our main living area. Everything went great and we could not have been happier with the results or Liston Construction.

I wasn't pleased. The patio was humped. They were worthless. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I ended up paying the guy, but I wasn't happy and I did not consider it resolved. He put a downspout right at the bottom step and I would trip over it when I walked down. The steps were not comfortable to walk down. He cut them shorter to make them fit. I wanted longer and steeper treads and I ended up having to pay more money to have this done. THe guy had to replace the railing that he put in. It had strap marks on it. Originally his price was the lowest that I received. I got a decent price, but I got what I paid for. It caused a lot of headaches. He did return phone calls, but I had to badger him to get the work done. In the end, it wasn't worth the hassle.

Update 1/1/2014:
Responding to Liston's feedback; :
I did not get any significant discount on the patio work, and that wasn't the only work that was shabby. The handrailing on the steps, steps that Liston added to the deck, is way too flimsy to be safe. It is supported by a post at the bottom of the steps that is only setting on rebar, not physically tied to the concrete, so it is not solid. The rail needs a post half way up to be safe. I'll but that in myself when I convert the deck to a maintenance free deck and replace that flimsy handrail. Do you think a 13'6and quot; 2X6 mounted vertically for a handrail without any support halfway down is solid? It moves so much side to side when you grab it half way up the steps that if someone heavy falls into it there, I fear it will totally fail.

As far a following other codes, they didn't even install the required hurricane clips on the deck roof until the county inspector made them. The inspector later told me that the originally installed steps with the downspout in front would not have passed inspection. Since I had to pay 300.00 more to have the longer treads installed, I paid for something that I shouldn't have had to. He also got a lot of extra money out of me by billing me much more money, double what he allowed in his estimate for electrical work. He also told the BBB that the issues were resolved to my satisfaction, which wasn't true. So who is the liar??? I did NOT report false information to the BBB, and I made it clear to the BBB after I saw it marked resolved that it was not resolved to my satisfaction. I was just tired of dealing with it.

Response from LISTON CONSTRUCTION
"The project reviewed here occurred in January of 2006, not April of 2009 as reported by the homeowner. We completed a finely crafted project. We obtained all necessary building permits, and delivered as promised. I admit that the concrete patio (which we subcontracted out)had some flaws in it, in which we gave a substantial discount to the homeowner. He had the option of tearing it out, but he opted for the discount. The homeowner, for some reason, continues to falsify information on this project. He reported to the BBB false information which I proved otherwise to the BBB, which is why they marked the issue resolved. As members can see on the rest of our reports, we are an honest and trustworthy company, that performs high quality workmanship and delivers the highest in customer service. Sadly, this homeowner has chosen to mislead and misinform the public continually."

Kieth was great to work with from the beginning. He was very punctual, professional, and instilled a confidence with his tone and demeanor that I did not feel from any of the other contractors who bid on the job. His bid was WELL below the next lowest (we got 4 total). The sub-contractors he used were likewise punctual and professional, and Kieth did a great job facilitating communication between all parties as the project went on. I got the impression that he felt his subs' work was a reflection on his own performance and he chose to work only with companies that could uphold his standard. Everything turned out beautifully. The only reason I give a B for quality is that the finish on the woodwork was just short of expectation. This was done by one of the subs, and it took some prodding for them to get it to where we wanted it. In the end, they got most of the wood to a point we were happy with. All the work done by Kieth himself was exceptional. The flooring sub also did an outstanding job.

After a bad experience with another contractor, Keith was a breath of fresh air. He was punctual to a second and very professional. He subbed out the painting portion of the job, but the sub was just as good, and throughout the process, Keith really made me feel like he would answer personally for the sub's work. The entire job was done in 2 days, which I found impressive. The cherry on top was that Keith also came in at almost 30% below the next lowest bid (4 bids total). A wonderful experience, overall.

All aspects of the project exceeded our expectations - the craftsmanship and attention to detail are visible throughout. The job was completed on time and in-line with the initial estimate. We were particularly impressed with Liston s ability to match the color, grain and finish of the custom beamed ceiling and posts with the home s existing posts and beams. The kitchen is now both highly functional (Keith Liston was extremely helpful in working with us in designing the best layout to accommodate our preferred appliances and the needs of our family) and attractive. We were extremely pleased with the professionalism and thoughtfulness of the Liston Construction team all areas of the house were taped off and floors were covered while the work was being done and we were consulted throughout the project with respect to materials, colors and consistency with our original plan.

We had worked with several contractors on several different projects and had been disappointed. They would not show up when they said they would, without a call, or they would come without warning on unscheduled days. We both work so this was a pain. They left trash and tools behind. Worst of all, anytime they hit a snag they either wanted to cut corners or raise the price. No wonder this industry gets so many consumer complaints. Keith Liston and his crew were thankfully at the other end of the spectrum. Excellent communication and updates. Always reachable and responsive. And when difficulties were inevitability encountered he just put his head down and overcame the obstacles without raising the price or sacrificing quality. The workmanship his crew demonstrated and his choice of materials was top notch. Unlike the other contractors we used, Liston is a good guy we would welcome moving in next door. Very pleased with our new garage!
