I called ahead. They said to bring it in. Nice young man took it at the counter. Very small workspace, crowded on the floor/to the walls with repairs being done. Gave me no receipt, but took my name/phone # and details of problem. I also gave them my Windows 7 disc and some memory that I had prepurchased. I asked how long, they said a few days. I gave them 4 days, then called. Not done yet, the answer. I gave them 2 more. I had to call after the computer. They never gave me an estimate, even tho I expected one before a pricey repair. ($250 out the door). They just went ahead and replaced both my hard drives, and reloaded my Win7 disc. They also loaded a virus protection that I was not familiar with. When I picked it up, I told the fellow at the desk (not the repair tech), that I had Kaspersky at home...he said no problem. (I found out Kaspersky and his virus protection are mortal enemies and cannot coexist on the same computer), but more of that later. He said all work was warrantied for 30 days. Within 5 days, the system crashed. I called first, to let them know I would be bringing it in. I TOLD the man on the phone (presumably the same one I delt with the first day) that I did not have $40 for the bench labor (bad timing for my budget). He said no problem, just bring it in. I assumed that it was the hard drive he installed. I had to call them twice to find out when it would be finished. We played phone tag for 2 days. I finally went in. They tech (again) was not available. Convienent? Maybe they point the finger at each other....no he's the tech...no HE'S the one. I saw two different men, two different days, two different personalities, two different explanations. This fella read from the tag hanging on my repaired pc: hard drive failure. He seemed to think that since we had HIS (the store) virus protection on the PC, by loading Kaspersky we caused the drive to fail. I found out later that both systems will not run at the same time. You cannot even put one on "pause" or "sleep" and run the 2nd. It just won't work. I questioned the hard drive replacement (I really feel in my heart that it was their product that failed, and they just didn't want to "eat" the cost). I told the guy on the phone that I didn't have $40 at the time to repair the PC, so I had to wait an additional week before my payday to collect it. They charged me $95. This was on TOP of the $250 I paid for the original work. The rep that I spoke with at the store said they replaced a "third" hard drive. We don't have 3 drives. Technically, it was the THIRD drive that they had to replace. Two, that I paid for (2 weeks ago), and THIS one that they should have given me for free. I DIDN'T BREAK IT (or burn it out, or cause it to crash). No communication, bad customer service. Maybe I should have asked more questions. When I asked for a receipt before leaving it a second time, they assured me that NO ONE asks for a receipt. Just drop it off...see ya!! No estimate given, just a bill upon collection of my aging computer. I wish there was more people I could warn off from these guys. NO WAY will I ever go back, or give a reference to. They are no better than the Big Blue Box Store across town (geek squad). I thought I was finding someone honest. They just lied to save their little fannies.
