The owner of The Ballroom World is Alex Patsioukov. He defected from the Russian ballet during an official visit to the USA around 10 years ago. He has learned to speak English very well and is now a US citizen and loves our country. He received his ballroom certifications and is a college graduate and dance major. He is by far the best dance instructor not only in the Springfield area, but within a 200 mile radius. If you are serious about learning to dance well he is an excellent teacher and your best choice. His prices are high, but you get what you pay for in this case. His students frequently win dance competitions and awards. In fact, if you go to a large community dance you can easily pick out his dancers in a crowd of people. His dancers look different and much better than the average ballroom type dancer. If money is an issue then he offers group classes for $10.00 per class which is a very good buy and well worth your time and money. If you are not serious about dancing well and just want to be able to get out on the dance floor and rub up against someone, then you should go elsewhere. He is a professional and has high expectations of all his dancers. Plan on weekly dance lessons for at least a couple of years and frequent group lessons that meet in the evenings. If you pre-buy private dance lessons in groups of 10 lessons at a time, then you can take all his group lessons for free during that 10 week time frame.
