I recently had my dim headlights go out on my vehicle. They both went out at the same time. I woke up for work one morning, before daylight, started my car, and turned on my lights, and OH NO... They would not come on. My brights, however, still worked. I found it odd that my dims went out at the same time, so I called my father, who lives in Arkansas and is a certified mechanic. He found it strange too. He thought maybe I had blown a fuse... He looked up the info on my car, and it turns out my car had a recall dealing with the lights. Apparently, due to the heat under the dash the wiring melted and caused the brights, dims, or brights and dims to go out. >Same exact problem my car had.< My air conditioning also went out a bit later, so I decided to get both of the issues solved at The Auto Shoppe since it is a part of the Suzuki dealership here in town. Since my lights had a recall they should do the repair for free. When I called to schedule an appointment the gentleman looked up my VIN # and said there was no recall.... BUT there was. My father, the mechanic, looked the info up using his resources with his business, and I also found it on a government website: (www.safercar.gov) I needed the repairs done regardless so I took my car in. I hoped that I could show him this website and he would look up the recall again. After showing him the website, and reading the recall verbatim, he made a few phone calls and told me I shouldn't have to pay for the repair since there was a recall. I guess their books didn't list it. After the diagnostic was performed, which by the way was $95, they told me the head lights had blown out..... NOW- what are the chances that my headlights could blow out at the same time? It's ridiculous. That doesn't happen. I called my father. He called them. Again they told him the same thing... when I KNOW FOR A FACT that did not happen. What we assume is they opened my dash, fixed the recall, and to avoid a freebie they blamed my problems on blown lights so they could charge me for the repair. They also did not fix the problem with my AC. The cables that controls the heat and air were broken, and now, yes I may have AC, but I cannot change from my front vents to my defrost vents..... I am EXCEPTIONALLY unsatisfied. It's sad because there is nothing I can do because it's my word against their's. Do not go to this shop if you can help it. They will try to scam you.
