So far it's been good. Nothing has happened. It hasn't been very long.

I like them, they are good. They installed the new AC and new furnace, and we have already replaced the compressor on it. We have water that keeps on going on the floor, they have been here a number of times, and it is still not correct. We have had it for 5 years, and we should not have problems with a 5 years old air conditioner. We leave the door open and they come in when we are at work. I am not here to see what is going on. They have been working in this house since we owned it, so they know the system. We have two units, one for downstairs and one for upstairs, and the other one needs to be replaced in a year or two, so if they make this right, we may use them again.

I've used Pence several times in the past and highly recommend them for their prompt response, excellent knowledge, and fair pricing. I should point out that there is also a Pence's Appliance in Kearney (they're related somehow...brothers (?) cousins (?)) but I haven't used them. This review applies only to Pence's Htg and Clg in Smithville.
On the Friday before Christmas, I noticed that my downstairs dual-fuel heat pump wasn't heating when it switched over to furnace mode (below 32 oF) and called Pence Htg and Clg. They were able to come out that same day and still accomodate my being able to get to the airport to pick up my son! He explained that the high moisture content of LP gas had caused the burner tubes to corrode and that they needed to be replaced with stainless steel tubes. Since both units are the same vintage, I had him order new tubes for both furnaces. I also had him look at my humidifier's since they didn't appear to be working. He said that the valves were activating, but not opening so they were likely corroded shut. He also noticed that they were wired so that they only operated when the unit was in furnace mode. He said he could re-wire the units and replace the valves.
The next week (about Wed or Thurs) they called to finish the job. The serviceman came out and was able to replace the burner tubes in less than an hour but said that the wrong valves had been ordered so he would have to come back to finish with the humidifiers.
Finally, on 1/3 he came back and replaced the valves and did the re-wiring.
Everything seems to be working great and although the extra appointment was a little inconvenient, it wasn't a big deal. They were able to fix the main problem (no heat) during the 2nd service call and since we were experiencing unseasonably warm weather, the units were in heat-pump mode the whole time.

He came out the next day. He was very professional. I have sign a maintenance contract with him to maintain the AC and heating on my rental houses.

They are always quick to respond and are usually able to service our needs right away. One time they were not able to find anything wrong with our heat pump because it was operating fine by the time they got to the house. When it failed again, they were out here immediately and found the problem and only charged us for the one call. I find them very trustworthy and skilled, and I highly recommend them!

I used Pence to fix our refridgerator, which was quite ancient. Although we lived in a rural area, about 15 miles away, they did not hesitate or complain about this issue. The owner Jim Pence came out on time, took his time to properly analyse the problem. He ordered the proper part, which took a great deal of searching as internet was not as useful then. He installed the motor, standing by the estimate, and even called back one week later to assure all was working properly. Used again 2 years later to charge up our AC unit. Was cost effective and fixed promptly. Will use again in a heartbeat!
