I found ECS with a google search and their reviews were decent. They seemed like the only game in town. I wish I didn't feel compelled to write a negative review of them, as the installation went mostly as promised, and the system is working, though I’m not sure if I’m getting the promised efficiency. To be fair, the house is new to me, so I don’t have a history of utility bills against which to compare it to. They retrofitted my new-to-me 50s house with a Series 5 WaterFurnace with the DWH option and a 1200' loop and for the most part they did a decent job. It was a big messy project, which they were upfront about. Outside of the unresolved issues I have had with their unfinished work and their lack of concern about them, they delivered the system as promised. I won't go into all the details about my negative experiences, as I outlined them in an email to the company. They never got back to me about them. And that's pretty much been my experience with them -- unresponsive and blasé after they collect the check. In fact, a guy I hadn't seen through the whole sales and installation process showed up at the final walkthrough to collect a check the moment it was completed. They hadn't told me this is how they do their 'billing.' It felt a little like a shakedown -- "Nice WaterFurnace you have there. Sure would be a shame if something happened to it..." I wasn't able to write a $28k check on the spot, and when I delivered it to the ECS office a few days later, the woman -- who I think is the owner -- pretty much snatched it out of my hand without so much as a "Thanks! How did the installation go?" She disappeared into the office, never to be heard from again. I'd say go with ECS with a couple of caveats. If you’re doing a retrofit, get a full energy audit (mine will cost $399) before signing a contract. ECS didn’t suggest it for my house until 2 1/2 months after the installation. Now I’m left to figure out without their help if I’m getting maximum efficiency. Goes without saying to get everything in writing – don’t rely on verbal promises. Stay on top of them during the installation. And don't expect much in the way of followup or concern about negative experience. I just hope they honor their warranties. They're very proud about being the biggest in KC, which might be true. Maybe if they had some competition, they'd up their game.

Job went poorly, I am 4 months into system running and it leaks, I have been calling (5 times) for over two weeks trying to get them back out to solve problem. We had numerous problems during install including having to tear out the ceiling in our new home to fix install issues. Darren the owner and Chris the salesperson were immature and hostile in response to their and their leadership and crew failures on the project.

The office manager just called this week to check in and make sure that the geothermal was performing like we wanted it to, see if we needed any filters or wanted a system check up.

I thought they were very professional and they helped with the paper work to help me get a government rebate. They were very good at doing the work and I had no complaints at all. Two men came and did the digging and the lying of the pipes. Then there were two guys that came and did the inside in the basement. It took them two days to complete once they were finished outside. The heating and a/c has been great so far. It was a very good personal experience working with them.

I think they're good. They did a good job of finding out what we really needed.

I use them again in the future if needed.

I have been very pleased and I have never been as conformable with the cooling in any home. I think the key is to having it sized right and they did really, really well with that. I chose them because they had plenty of experience, they were friendly and professional. They took time to educate us and I give them A's across the board.
