Said the clog must be further down the pipe as he couldn't get anything.  I explained that my 4 foot auger unclogs it, but that something must be stuck in the pipe.  I had an auger break off about 3 months earlier.  He said for 300 bucks he could stick a camera into it and see if there was anything there.  I know some people rely on Roto-Rooter as their only preference, it however was the only one I could get out after the holiday

February 2012 sewage was backing up in my basement floor drain. They said they needed to install a new house trap (whatever that is). It is a pipe dug into my basement that has T junctions. They didn't use Y junctions so it isn't an easy access to camera or auger my line.  I was billed for 14 hours but do not believe that they were there for a total of 14 hours.  I  stayed home from work for three days and they were constantly gone They pumped the water out of the hole they dug in my basement right into my back yard, feet away from my door.  They accidently disconnected my sink and we found out days later. We received a bill for $115.74 to reconnect my sink. I did not feel that I should have been billed for this.  After talking it over they waived this bill and gave me a paid stamp on my invoice for that part. We promptly paid the other bill for $870.96.  About 6 months later their receptionist called and the first thing she said was "When are you going to pay us." I had to again explain the situation with the kitchen sink and take her a copy of my invoice before she would waive the fee again.  Eleven months after the event we had sewage backing up in our basement again. I refused to call Roto-Rooter and had others fix the issue. The problem was that our line was disconnected from the city's main.  I cannot assume that this problem was around for the 11 months and that Roto-Rooter should have known. Maybe, maybe not.  However when we pulled the permit so that our line could be dug up in the alley we found that Roto-Rooter didn't do what they said they did on an earlier call dated July 19, 2010.  This was our first call to Roto-Rooter because there was a hole we thought was a rat hole until the city said it was a sink hole and that it was our problem to take care of.  Roto-Rooter was the first to return our call and we were scared because the city was telling us to get it fixed immediately, before we had the funds to do it.  My invoice says they laid 7 feet of plastic pipe from the main to our driveway.  This would have put plastic pipe to our line before hitting the alley.  When the  work was dug up March 8, 2013 we found that there was not a full 7 feet of pipe getting us out of the alley easement.  My bill for the sink hole dig up was $2156.72.  Roto Rooter charges $205 to run a camera in the line to check things out while they are already here.  For our most recent problem we called Craig Plumbing who came out just to run the camera and tell us where to dig and the bill was only $70 for camera and time.
