Very expensive, all he did was replace a bulb

This company was recommended by friends so we did not obtain any other estimates. We called and received an estimate over the phone of $350 for the installation of the antenna on the roof and connections in up to four rooms (using pre-existing cable connections). We were told the antenna could be installed on the roof, the side of the house, or perhaps even the yard. We could expect to receive approximately 10 local channels. We needed to provide the cable between the wall connections and the televisions. We scheduled to have to work done the following week. Mr. Smith got a little lost looking for our house (which is not uncommon) but still arrived very close to the time scheduled. He took a look at the house, determined that given the terrain, the antenna would need to go on the roof; he then confirmed the estimated cost; and got right to work. The installation of the roof antenna seemed to go smoothly, and he even pointed out a few loose shingles that needed attention. He had some trouble locating the cable connections within the house but eventually located them and was able to test two of the four connections. We do receive 8 channels. It turned out the third connection was to a television requiring a digital converter (it's an older TV) and it turns out the fourth room we wanted connected didn't have an existing cable connection so we decided not to install in that room. A week or so later we got the digital converter (an additional $65 from Radio Shack) for the old TV and discovered the connection was not functioning. We called Mr. Smith and he suggested we look at the connections in the garage and see if we could figure out the correct connection and to give him a call if we couldn't. We haven't gotten around to doing that yet - obviously that last connection isn't critical. We weren't thrilled with the aesthetics regarding the way the cable runs off the roof and down the side of the house next to the deck, but I'm not sure how it could be hidden without fishing it behind the siding (2 floors worth) and we don't know if that can be done. We'll get used to it. Also, it appears the cables to the satellite dish were cut, and while we were no longer using it, the equipment is still there, and there is a chance we might use it in the future. While it may have been necessary to complete the antenna installation, we would have preferred he consult with us before cutting those cables. Mr. Smith was friendly and courteous and willing to climb onto the roof a three story house. We've since had several bad wind storms and the antenna is still securely mounted to the roof and we are still receiving signal so overall we are happy with the installation.
