STEVE'S DECK & FENCE

Steve Gunn was supposed to replace our wood fence.  He took a $1200 down payment and was supposed to start work.  He made excuses that it was too cold for the cement to set for the fence posts.  He made excuse after excuse but NEVER did any work.  The police wouldn't do anything about it so I filed a suit against him in small claims court.  The sheriff was unable to deliver the summons because he moved or was evicted from his house.  Long story short, her stole $1200 from us and never performed the work.  Only just became a member of Angie's List so that is why the review is for something that happened a couple of years ago.  He also has had a company called Top Gunn Home Improvement.

Here is the status of the 10 items on the original contract: A. Replace all gutters Finished and paid for directly to subcontractor. B. Replace vertical trim boards Put up wrong by his first crew. Improperly repaired by his second crew. Partially repaired by his third crew. C. Repair/Replace Porch Railing Done improperly by his first crew. Fixed by his second crew, but already showing cracks in the new wood. D. Repair bottoms of front porch pillars and paint porch roof. -Repair of bottoms completed although some of the people he sent claim the repairs will not last more than a year or two. Attempt to paint porch roof peeled less than a month after application. E. Repair window over garage.-Not completed. Decision was made to replace window. First attempt to fix used inside Masonite rather than an exterior material. F. Replace kitchen door. -Removed from contract. New door installed by another company without any involvement from you. G. Repair family room window arches. - Completed by second crew, although his third crew questioned the durability of the repair. H. Paint all trim. Not accomplished. Attempt to paint front door failed. I. Paint siding Not accomplished. J. Split cost of gutter guards. We paid for the gutter guards. We paid a total of $11,348.90 toward a total of $14,100. That is a little over 80% of the total. Based on the above it is hard to see that even 50% of the work was successfully completed. Steve has shown no ability to supervise and evaluate the quality of his workers. His unwillingness to answer our phone calls and accept registered letters is extremely unprofessional.

James was the foreman and he kept everything going fantastic on the job. They were very professional and worked extremely hard. It took a couple days for them to finish, but the finished product was great. They went above and beyond the call of duty for us and we appreciated it.
