Larry is the best handyman ever!!! He is so educated and experienced in anything “home” you would need! He helped us get out house ready for sale and due to his great quick and professional work our house sold in 23 hours!!! He was a joy to work with and never steered us into expensive repairs. I hate to give him a great review because I don’t want to share such a wonderful resource—-only kidding! Anyway—-I wholeheartedly and highly recommend him to anyone wanting a timely professional job in any area of home repair or remodeling. Thank you Larry! (And helpful darling wife Michelle!)

I purchased a wine rack and was sent the wrong finish. It was going to cost me a fortune to send it back and get a new one which really didn't match my other furniture, but was close, so I contacted Able Haus to see what they could do. Larry was able to strip the original finish and refinish with new colored paint stain that matched my other furniture identically. He is amazing at color matching. It is so much better than I could have ever bought and I love it.

Larry was very professional and his bid was very detailed so we knew exactly what we were paying for. He was always on time and went over and above our expectations by paying excellent attention to detail. He protected our new wood floors and cleaned up every day. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone!

Larry has done so much to prepare for the major remodeling to be done. For starters he has removed all the casing, baseboards, cabinets in kitchen and the dishwasher, microwave, stove and refrigerator in the kitchen. Prior to even starting this he made sure to put down floor protection and corner protection on walls so as to not damage anything in the tear out process. He always makes sure that protection is used where needed at all times. I never have an issue with damage. He removed all the switch and outlet covers in preparation of painting. He repaired and replaced all the door and window trim and headers. The headers he designed to match the original wood work. While fixing any issues with wood around the windows he filled in all gaps with insulation to help with heating and cooling. He removed the fireplace mantel to redirect all the electrical for TV, speakers, etc. so that it would be hidden and not take away from the original wood work. He then reinstalled the mantel so that you would never know it had been removed or that all the electrical was underneath. He repaired the newel posts on the staircase as most caps had been damaged. He was able to either find matching replacements or patch them so you would never know they were repaired. All look original. He removed and replaced all broken and rotting front porch railing spindles. He matched them all to the originals and painted to match. He painted the front door for me in my favorite color green. He worked with me and help me design a new kitchen with all the shelves and everything I have ever wanted. Larry goes above and beyond just a carpenter. He is a designer and never leaves you on your own. He is there every step of the process.

After buying a 100+ year old home the living room needed something to spruce up the fireplace, but not take away from the historical restoration. Larry designed a custom fireplace surround that reached from ceiling to floor. It brought in some of the characteristics of the original wood work in the home to tie everything together. It is perfect and I couldn't have imaged anything so beautiful. He also installed a new breaker panel and did some general electric work. He refinished the original doors to the bookcase the surrounds the fireplace. The doors were not attached when I bought the house and were found afterward in the basement. Larry has been able to strip them and refinish them to match the rest of the restored bookcase. Lastly, after the floors were refinished Larry installed all new quarter round in the entire home. Everything is really coming together beautifully.

Redoing the floors in my historical home was a lot considering all the other restoration projects Larry was already doing for me. He was able to find a great company that refinished all the wood floors. Some of the floors were original from 100+ years ago and they refinished them perfectly. I thank Larry for taking the time to vet and find a reputable and affordable company to do the work.

When I purchased this home many things needed to be done and Larry has taken each item on with excitement. The most recent issue relates to the stairs. The original stair skirt was broken and damaged in other ways in certain areas. Larry designed a new stair skirt to go with the historical theme of the home and hand routed the entire thing to fit perfectly with the stairs. The new skirt matches exactly to the old one and he trimmed around each stair to fit seamlessly. In addition, the bookcase around the fireplace was the original and needed to repair. Larry was able to repair it back to its original splendor. While doing the repair he also fixed some wiring within the bookcases and installed additional electrical outlets. The outlets he was able to hid so that it did not take away from the historical look.

Larry has been working to restore the base throughout the home back to its original look and feel. The base is 2 part and takes lots of precision and detail to install. He has really out done himself. In addition he is working on prepping all the original wood work in the home to sand it down to the original finish and then refinish it. While doing this we realize the original window seat had decayed and started rotting and he was able to rebuild it and make a custom storage unit for us underneath. The fireplace needed a pick me up and he came up with the idea to cover the brick of the hearth with stone to give it a modern yet historic feel. To tie it into the rest of the woodwork he built a custom frame around the hearth. All the work is absolutely beautiful. He has such good design ideas.

Larry has taken on a huge project by restoring a current 100+ year old home I bought to its original splendor. He has taken time to research and find all the materials needed to fix and replace items to their original look and feel. He has found casing, millwork, doors, plinth blocks, spindles, etc. that all match the original work. He is amazing at what he does.

I purchased a bookshelf that I really liked and when it arrived it was too tall for my ceilings. Larry was able to cut down the bottom and redesign the edging to make it look factor, yet fit floor to ceiling exactly. He took the time and contacted the manufacturer to get additional white stain to match the original bookshelf. When he was done it looked like nothing had been changed and came directly from the factory. He does amazing work!

After having him initially put down a specific tile floor in my shower I decided I did not like it and had him remove it and replace it with another tile floor. He was so gracious about doing this. He had to meticulously remove the previously laid floor to make sure and not damage the shower walls and to not damage the shower pan. He was able to do it all and lay new tile that turned out great! While doing this I had him repaint my entire bathroom and install new lights. He also replaced a bi-fold door and hardware on several other doors to match hardware that I already had changed out. There was also a towel bar that I had pulled down that he repaired and reinforced in the wall so it wouldn't happen again. Lastly he had to alter the current cabinet in the bathroom for some additional plumbing that had to be done. The cabinet alteration turned out great and it looked factory. Larry is always so good about handling changing tastes. He is a great contractor and the only one I will ever use.

Larry did a full overhaul on the paint of my home. He not only painted my basement stairwell, foyer walls, main stairwell, living room walls, and soffit in dining room/kitchen, he was involved from the beginning will helping us pick out the proper paint colors to go with other walls in our home as well as the accents that we currently have. The paint color turned out perfect. In addition to painting he replaced a bi-fold door at one of our closets that we not a standard size. He had to do some adjustments to the railings for the door as well as the door to make sure everything fit together properly. When he finished it all looked like it was standard and no adjustments needed to be made. He replaced the door hinges and knobs on 5 doors in my home so that all hardware matched...I hate when things don't match.

Wow...is all I can say!!! My main goal was wanting an all quartz shower. I got that and so much more. The shower was gorgeous with the quartz walls and Larry tied the tile shower floor in perfectly. I have a double sink and could not find any mirrors that I liked to go over them. He designed and built 2 mirrors with custom frames to match the vanity. They are beautiful and really made the bathroom look rich. When it came to the lights I could not find any that did the bathroom justice. Larry went out of his way to help me look for some and found the most beautiful lights in a Celtic design. The entire bathroom came together so well. From the various ideas I had Larry took each one and designed a bathroom no women could resist. It is now my own personal oasis.

So much needed to be done and Larry took it all in stride. He was great walking me through every step. We had the following items completed: -New exhaust fans installed in the hall bathroom and downstairs bathroom -He had to design and install new supports for the microwave in the kitchen. Due to the space constraints we couldn't just use standard supports and he did a great job making everything work and making them stronger than any store bought ones. -Installed new electrical box above the stove to handle the increase ampage of the new microwave and to bring everything up to code. -Installed the new microwave -Installed a new water supply line for the new fridge to be installed. -Repaired the water supply line for the washing machine as it was leaking. -Installed a new dishwasher -Replaced all 12 shutoff valves in the entire house as they were all old and leaked and not up to code. -Installed new bi-fold doors in master bedroom and bathroom closets. -Installed new base and trim in master bath closet. He painted all of it perfectly without a drop cloth or tape...it was amazing to watch. -Repaired wall in the downstairs bathroom from the removal of the old toilet paper holder. He did such a good job that you couldn't even tell that a repair had to be done. -Repainted the entire handrail for the stairwell in white. I couldn't imagine having to do all this with any other contractor. Larry just added each item to his list and completed it with ease. He made my move into my new home so much easier and much less stressful as I could trust him to take care of anything that needed to be done.

My daughter was moving in with me and the guest bathroom wasn't suitable for an every day bathroom. Larry came and in remodeled the entire thing. He put in new shower walls, repainted walls and ceiling, installed a new vanity with fixtures, installed a new toilet, and installed all new hardware throughout bathroom. In addition, due to the age of the home there was much plumbing and electrical that had to be done to bring things up to code and fix issues that were already there. The topper was that we couldn't find a medicine cabinet that would fit that matched the vanity...so he designed and built one. It was perfect! It matched exactly and looked like it was meant to be a set with the vanity. My daughter was so excited and loved the bathroom!

Great! They went into tedious detail cleaning and painting the existing cabinets. They removed all doors and painted each one meticulously before rehanging. The entire kitchen and ceiling were painted. Larry installed a beautiful glass backsplash with sparkle grout. I think this grout is now mine and my daughters favorite! A new counter was installed with new sink and garbage disposal. Larry went over every detail before and during the project so there was never any wonder. He is great to work with.

We hired Larry I believe back in 2014/15 to do our kitchen backsplash. He had good reviews on Angie’s list and after looking at a couple of other contractors, were very impressed with Larry. He did a great job, was professional, friendly and above all very good at what he does. He also repaired and redid some bad plaster and drywall with perfect results. When it came time to do the bath remodel last summer, we pretty much knew we would use Larry, however got another bid anyway from the Home Depot people, the bids were similar but we knew what we would get with Larry. Again great results. He is a master at tile work, woodworking and general carpentry, painting, etc. He was also very helpful in selecting and advising on the material and fixtures to use, paint and grout colors, etc. Larry as a separate small project also installed a new front entry door, not an easy project in a older home! This time he was also a general contractor and did a great job overseeing and managing the project, from permits to inspections and sub contractors. Most recently when we put our house up for sale due to a job transfer, he came in with little notice to paint, do drywall and plaster touch up and other miscellaneous tasks to get the house into good shape. We loved working with Larry, his wife Michelle who helps him with paperwork, and his son Matt, who assisted with the bath remodel.

While away in another state getting married, The Works assisted me with the movers bringing my wife's items. They were at my home when the movers arrived and assisted them in placing my wife's items throughout the home. The Works also set up my mother-n-laws room so that it would be ready when she arrived to live with us. She is older and in a wheel chair so it was very important her bed, etc. were ready for her. To do this several items in the room at to be removed and The Works worked with the hauling company to come and pick the items up and haul them off. Also while away they deep cleaned my entire home so that it would be as if it were new for my new wife. They washed all the windows, cleaned the siding, wiped down baseboards, arranged for a carpet cleaner to come in and clean the carpets as well as clean the ducts, dusting, vacuuming, and deep cleaning of kitchen and all bathrooms. My home has never been so clean!!! During this process they also checked on my cats, fed them, and cleaned their litter boxes. They even washed all my clothes and hung them up and washed my sheets and remade my bed so that all would be done when we returned. Furthermore, I had purchased a tree from Home Depot but didn't have the means to get it before I had to go out of town. While I was gone they rented a truck and picked up the tree I had purchased along with another one. Unfortunately, Home Depot gave them the wrong size, but they were so wonderful and took the time to go back and exchange them for me and then begin planting them. Lastly, to complete the home, Larry repaired an outdoor bench that I love and put fresh orange paint on it. I was so excited to see it when I pulled up. They went above and beyond to get so much done in such a short time so that my new wife would have no worries when she arrived, They are they best!!!

I have a small cat foster service and I needed a separate area to hold the little boxes outside of the house, but still keep the cats from running off. Larry designed a pen that is enclosed, but has a cat door to the house to allow the cats to come in and out. He created shelves to serve as steps from the home to the garage for easier access for the cats. On one side he did a magnetic wall to be able to put hooks to hang the items needed to clean the litter boxes. In addition I needed a place to house the food bowl and water and make it easier to feed the cats and a place that they could make a mess and it not be a big issue. Larry designed another pen in my garage that is accessible by a cat door to the house. The pen is fully enclosed with drawers with casters that hold the food bowls and can be easily pulled out and cats can be fed. Both of these items have saved the inside of my home. Larry can create anything and make it much better than you can ever imagine!!! He is a designer to the bone.

Larry is amazing at remodeling and designing inside the home that I figured he would be amazing outside the home as well. He took the many, many plants that I bought and designed my entire yard so that it looked more like the Botanical Gardens, then just a bunch a flowers. Which is how it would look if I did it. He then helped with the planting as well. Larry is amazing!

Larry is great. I asked him to help find someone who could help clean my home and do general chores. Until he could find someone he said he would help. He helped me purchase a new vacuum, cleaning supplies, and spent over 2 days doing a deep clean of my home from top to bottom. In addition I had some general items that needed looking. He fixed the handle on my freezer, switched out an outlet box for a higher ampage as the switch that I wanted would not work with what was there and would have caused a fire hazard as it would heat up, patched a hole in the drywall in my office and painted, and hung some rather large pictures and a huge clock for me. He is a man of all talents.

My office at times can get a little out of hand since I work from home. Larry was able to build my a custom cabinet/bookshelf to match the flooring and other items he had already done in my office so that I could better organize. In addition, so that I wouldn't have to keep my TV cable box, etc. on my desk and taking up space that I needed for work items, he build be a cabinet to hide these items with a front cover that hides all the items, but yet they are still easily accessible. He used a beautiful metal grate work on the TV cabinet front to make it look rich. Both items were built to hang and therefore not take up additional floor space. These are some of the most beautiful pieces of furniture in my home. He always adds his own special touch that no one ever thinks about, but really makes an item something special. The pantry door in my kitchen was starting to peal and look disgusting. Instead of buying a new door he was able to take it, strip it, and instead of paint it use a special stain that looks like paint, but makes the door indestructible to the wear and tear of a kitchen. I am so happy!
