The Davey Tree Expert Co- W Saint Louis & St Louis

I was really happy with the service from Davey. The quote process was easy and the salesman didn't pressure me to make a quick decision. A two-man crew did the work. They rigged safely, brought down large limbs carefully to avoid damaging my house, and cleaned up the site before leaving. The person who pruned the tree also warned me about damage he noticed near the top of the tree, advised me about how often and where to water the tree, and suggested other routine maintenance options.

They were good and were nice guys. They were very professional and got the job done in a timely manner. They cleaned up thoroughly. Later I found out that I probably could have had it done a little less expensive, but I did not shop around so that was my problem.

The estimator came on time and at a time when I was home to discuss the work with him. Another bid had said that the elm had Dutch elm disease and wanted to take the whole tree down for a lot of money. I asked this person if he thought that it had the disease and he said no (as did the person who came to actually do the cutting). The bid was reasonable and in line with others when it came which took a couple of days. It took a few weeks for them to set up the time to come. On the day scheduled, they arrived on time and got working quickly. They left one branch that I thought should also go and they willingly cut it. They cleaned up the driveway to a state cleaner than when they began. I was very satisfied with all the they did and they did not stop until I was satisfied. They left without payment so I assume I will get a bill for their services.

What I like best about them is that they worked to save the tree. They try to make the trees healthy and save the trees as much as possible, which is what I wanted. They have two different divisions that I have used, one in St. Louis City and the other in Brentwood. I got two different responses from the locations. My review is for the St. Louis company. I would use both locations again.

Davey Tree promptly responded (had Karl, regional manager) out within a couple of hours. Karl was professional and courteous, and he got a crew out the same day. They did a great job quickly clearing the branches and cleaning up after themselves. When I called to tell Karl that they had missed a smaller branch on the patio roof, he was very courteous and promised to get it taken care of. Overall very good service.

The planting went well so for so good.

The representative was very professional when we met to discuss the job. He provided written material on customer service and the company's quality standard. I thought this was impressive. Davey's was not the the low bid but thier policy and work actions shows they stand behind their word. They came out and in no time the tree was gone. They also did a good job of cleaning up after citting the tree down too which was very important to me. I would certainly consider using them again.

Their service was exceptional from beginning to end. We had a large branch (30 feet) that had broken off high up in a tree near the back of my property near the power lines so I needed to have it removed before it fell. I called Davey (among others) and a sales arborist came out to my property to assess the situation and provide an estimate on a Sunday. He was very professional and the estimate was reasonable compared to others I had gotten. When Davey's arborists came to do the work they were also very professional and friendly. They came to the door to let me know what was going on and there were no issues with them removing the branch (and trimming where it had broken off the tree) even though the work location was somewhat difficult (it was at the top of a steep hill in a wooded area right next to power lines, and outside temperatures were in the single-digits that morning). I would definitely use Davey again for any tree work.

They were punctual on giving me a quote and setting up a time to do the work. I will use them again.

They seemed to do a good job and cleaned up well. They were courteous. The only complaint was that they just showed up to do the work without calling in advance. Unfortunately I could not stay while they were here as I had a prior commitment. It would have been nice to know ahead of time when they were coming.

Performed all the work fully as expected in a timely manner. Everything discussed and in the contract was completed to my satisfaction. Clean up was very good.

Two people came out, one to prune and the other to assist with bringing large pieces down. I met with them before they started to discuss parameters, but after that they were completely self-sufficient. At the end of the job, we did a walk-around. The person who did the pruning was very knowledgeable and was able to answer some questions about tree care and future maintenance. They left the site very clean. They were able to reshape the tree to compensate for some dead branches on one side. It's hard to tell what it will look like when the foliage comes back, but I think it will look nice.

Appointment was scheduled on 12/2/13 at noon and provider did not show as agreed. Cannot stand when someone does not respect your time. Will no longer hire for any service nor will recommend.

Found Davey on Angie's List. Ross came out to survey our needs. Completed a very thorough walk around with him and he marked everthing we discussed on a schematic. Provided the estimate. After review, we hired them to do work. No money up front required. I liked that their employees who do the work are arborist. Seemed to have genuine respect for the trees, don't do a hack job. On day of work, two men came and worked efficiently for about 5 hours. When they started, I was suprised not to hear a noisy chain saw. They meticulously trimmed with hand saws and clippers except for the removal of the old cedar which required a chain saw. Good clean up. Very happy with appearance. Had one stump to be removed which they sub out. They coordinated scheduling but he didn't get out until about ten days later. Overall, very happy with Davey. Would use them again. May have been able to find a cheaper service but not better. If quality is what you want and it's important to the appearance of your home, these are your guys.

The company was very responsive to my request for a proposal. Called me to discuss the recommended service. The crew was on time the day of the appointment and were very professional. Only complaint was that they missed cleaning up some of the debris left from removal of the trees and trimming.

They did a wonderful job! Kyle was the estimator. He was very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and took the time to educate us on our trees. He also showed up the day the work was being done and assisted in some of the tree trimming. He was very helpful! Three men showed up exactly on time the day of the job. They were very safety conscious, wearing their hard hats and making sure that everyone was clear when they dropped the limbs. They worked tirelessly all day and barely seemed to take a break. I especially liked the fact that they weren't talking on their phones all day (one of my pet peeves!) At the end of each day, they thoroughly cleaned up. I even saw one of the workers using the blower to clean off the cars in the alley that got dirty from the chipper! I was very happy with the results and will definitely use Davey Tree Company for any future work I need done.

Every project they do for us is done professionally & according to the written quote I've been given and on time. They have been doing work for us for at least 10 years. I have had two different "sales/service" contacts and each of them has been extremely knowledgable about types of trees, tree diseases, fertilizers,etc. The last job involved cutting down a huge tree that was hanging over half of our 2 story house. It was very involved and the guys that came knew exactly what they were doing. You will undoubtedly find outfits that will work for less than Davey but when it comes to more complex jobs, I believe you get what you pay for.

The estimate was thorough and the estimator provided us with several options. The removal went very smoothly. They cleaned up the site so well you could hardly even tell they were there! Payment on their website was very easy and a great alternative.

They did an excellent job of removing the tree which was dying and trimmed the rest of the trees in my yard. They cleaned up after themselves and they were extremely professional. I was told they would bill me for the service.

They were very pleasant, on time, efficient - finishing ahead of schedule and cleaned up after themselves.

My main complaint is that they were scheduled for Mon the 24th, as I was out of town the previous week. They called the morning of the 2oth (Thurs) saying they were coming that afternoon. I didn't get the message til I returned home the next day, and it was too late. They did come that afternoon, apparently did a fine job. I wanted to be there so I could ask any questions that may have popped up. I could have also had the opportunity to move any items in the yard that were in their way. My dog sitter did say they were very professional, and from what I can see, they did a great job.
