Solid Surface Refinishing

After looking at the reviews on Angie's List we contacted David Cummings. He was very responsive and gave us a competitive bid. We found David to be very professional and informative, giving us helpful information about caring for our countertops. We scheduled the work for a few days later. David arrived at the scheduled time, setup materials to protect the floor and areas near the work. He worked quickly while minimizing disruption to our household. He used equipment that almost totally eliminated dust. In about 6 hours, he had produced like-new results. The countertops and caulking actually do look as good as they did when they were new. David completely cleaned up the work area. We would not hesitate to recommend him or hire him for other work in our home.

From start to finish our experience with Dave Cummings was fantastic. He was very prompt about coming to our house to provide a cost estimate to refinish our Corian countertops and then scheduling the job. He sanded out the scratches, recaulked as necessary and buffed the counters. We found him to be very professional, informative, courteous, and friendly. Dave said he would make the countertops look new again and he was right. My husband and I are very happy with the result. It was refreshing to deal with someone who provides high quality work at a very reasonable price.

He was there on time performed his job well and cleaned up when he was done. All scratches were removed from my Corian counters and I was very happy with the results.

Our dealings with Dave went very smoothly from start to finish. He returned all of our calls promptly and was on time for all appointments. In the interest of keeping the mess to a minimum when repairing the crack, he removed the island countertop on a Friday, did the work off site and reinstalled it first thing Monday morning. He then sanded and refurbished the remainder of the counters and double sink and everything looks absolutely beautiful!

Our countertop had moved away from the wall at the far edge ( almost 1/2 ") and the grout and caulked had started to break apart and come undone, due to foundation issues. We called the original company that installed them in 1997 and they referred me to Solid Surface Refinishing. I called Dave Cummings, he returned my call that day and we set up a date to come out and looked at the situation. He came out on time and worked all morning figuring out how the countertop had moved and why it would not stay back in place. The panel against the refrigerator was up to tight against the counter (due to foundation movement) and it would not allow the counter to go back in place until he loosened it up and removed the broken pieces of grout that had fallen behind and then secured it. He also explained why they don't usually grout Corian due to it's expanding and contracting properties and that they use silicone to secure it because screwing it can cause it to crack. When he got done he refinished the counters and showed me the caulk he had, it didn't go so well with the tile so he picked up a black caulk for me and came back the next day to recaulk . He showed me how each color would look and let me decide what I liked best. The black was the winner and now all the countertops look brand new. Dave was completely thorough and cleaned up everything when he got done. I have worked with many different companies, doors, windows, foundation and carpenters, and I can honestly say Dave has been the best. He took the time making sure that the problem was corrected completely and took the time showing me why it was doing it and what needed to be done. Not many contractors take that much time or effort to be that thorough. Thanks to Dave our dream kitchen looks like a dream kitchen again!
