We had Joe F. at our house today to install a humidifier onto our current furnace system. He arrived promptly at the expected time and worked all day long with only a short break for lunch. He was extremely polite and respectful and also very patient as we asked several questions after the installations was complete; one of the nicest service people we have ever encountered! The installation looks extremely professional and he even cleaned up after himself. We would recommend Joe and Seliga to anyone in need of HVAC service!

The first call, on a weekend, to Seliga was to look at the A/C unit to see if it was fixable, or needed to be replaced. Brett was able to get the unit running by resetting the capacitor, but that was a short term solution. The unit was 34 years old. While he was at our house, he checked and opened all vents, which he explained was needed for maximum air flow for the efficiency of the A/C and furnace. It was decided we needed a new unit, so he gave us an very reasonable price, and was able to get us time to install for 2 days later. The installers, Wayne and Lawson, were on time and very courteous to my elderly father in law. All work was done that day, cleaned up inside and out, and hauled all the old equipment away. Wayne took time to explain to my Father in Law how to use the new thermostat. Brett, Wayne, and Lawson, did an excellent job and were very nice to work with. There were no surprises and did what they said they were going to do, at the quoted price. Seliga is a topnotch company and I will be calling them for all my A/C and Furnace work. I highly recommend!

Our AC went out on Memorial Day weekend. We called Seliga and someone came out on Saturday within 2 hours. Good news, they were able to get it running, bad news, we really needed to replace our AC. Seliga gave us a very detailed estimate which was quite reasonable. Wayne B and Greg C installed our new AC today. They were totally professional, respectful of our home and our time, and got everything done and cleaned up in a day. They also proactively submitted our energy efficient AC for a rebate from our local utility company. We would highly recommend Seliga for your HVAC needs.

Seliga was great. They came out same day every time I called them, which was in June. A couple of times they didn't charge me anything since they were following up on a previous service call. They were thorough and patient in explaining to me the situation. I would definitely recommend them, and I plan to use them again in the future.

This company is looking to overcharge people who don’t know any better. When I could not get either my heat or AC to turn on I was told my sequencer was sticking and needed to be replaced. I was charged $130 for the diagnostics and quoted an additional $398 for the job. That sounded high so I contacted the owner, Dan Seliga, who assured me of his “best possible service and a fair price”. He blew off the high price explained it was probably due to “universal sequencers that we carry on the truck would not work for your situation”. I was broke, frustrated, and venting to a friend when she said her cousin was passing through the STL area and offered his second opinion. He quickly pointed out the part that was broken and showed me how easily the wires pull on and off. I bought the part from Amazon Prime for $23 and two days later replaced myself it in under 10 minutes. Seliga is a company who is willing to take full advantage of people like myself (young single female) who don’t know better. It’s sad and frustrating. Please avoid Seliga if you aren’t someone who knows what fair prices should be in the business.

Terrible experience dealing with Dan Seliga. He baited and switched at least four times during the process until he had me so far in the work couldn't be cancelled.. Here is the run down:Advertising/Sales Issues Complaint CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH: SALES/CONTRACT /WARRANTY AND BAIT AND SWITCH ON EQUIPMENT ISSUES.............. Dan Seliga (In my opinion) baited and switched on several categories / things in order to secure replacing the air conditioner at my mothers house after his sales guy (who only worked for Seliga a week according to Dan) gave an outrageous bid and wanted to... 'save the sale'. I originally obtained 2 bids to replace the A/C unit at my moms house... the second was from Seliga. On April 25 a salesman from Seliga named ****** gave a bid of $5500 to replace the existing unit with American Standard Silver 14 seer unit. The bid was almost $1800 higher than my long time h v a c guy. I did not call Seliga back. On Monday morning May 15 I get a call from Dan Seliga apologizing for the high bid and telling me that the bid his salesman ****** gave was way too high and that he had worked there only for a week and wasn't trained well and that it should be $4200-4300 total. I told Dan Seliga that I wasn't worried about the A /C at the moment as mom's furnace had quit and I was using electric radiators to keep her house cozy. I would address the furnace issue in the fall. Dan said, "Well we installed both the furnace and A/C units 8 years ago - how about I go take a look? I was not aware of who had installed them until that moment. So I said "OK" take a look. . Dan went out to moms and called me back about an hour - hour and a half after he had called me that morning and said "Well you don't need a new A/C, all you need is a pressure sensor switch on the furnace, something with the humidifier and a new evaporator coil". (I had told him the coil on the outside unit was leaking but he didn't check it.) There was nothing wrong with my evaporator coil...........He further said both units would be in fine shape for at least 10 years with just routine maintenance. Well that sounded better than $3700 (my other hvac quote) or $4300 so I said fine, go ahead. Couple hours later I get a call and I'm told they made mistake and I really do need a new A/C unit as there was an issue with the condensing coil (which I told him in the first place... that is what my other h v a c guy had said...which Seliga never checked)... but then he said the good news was my 8 year old unit had a 10 year warranty which would save $900 and with the $300 rebate it would only be $3300 apx net. So I said ok .. go ahead. Next call I get was... "Uh well that unit only had a five year warranty because I wasn't the original purchaser" and warranty wouldn't apply.... it was only five years...... they were almost through with the job when I was informed of this. For a company in business for 4 generations Dan KNEW I wasn't the original purchaser and KNEW it only had a 5 year warranty for second owner........ I was ****** because he's been in this business for decades and he KNOWS what those manufacturers warranties are......you know since he does this day in and day out and this isn't his first rodeo........... he lead me to believe I'd be covered by the warranty knowing full well it was horse hockey!!! Dan Seliga had even called my handyman builder to ask him what the other h v a c guy had said about whether it was the evaporator or condensing coil. My builder didn't remember, said it might be the evaporator coil but didn't really remember........ then Dan just assumed it was the evaporator coil at the time ..............7 weeks later when Dan and I discussed/argued these issues ....... in his own words he said......... "well 95% of the time it's the evaporator coil that's the problem"..... when I wanted to know why he didn't check.... he's supposed to be the expert,.. not me...... but he never checked...he just assumed even though I had told him it was the outside coil that was the problem. I told him he replaced a coil that didn't need to be replaced and that he messed up... that was just one thing.... and he still blamed my builder..... I was stunned by his rationalization. Apx 7 weeks passed since the install and I had not received a bill and I got a call from Dan Seligawanting to know why the bill wasn't paid...... I told him we never received one at either address and thought maybe he had sent off for the rebate and that is why we hadn't gotten it. I then told him I had a couple issues I wanted to discuss with him. THAT is when he immediately became very defensive! I explained that I felt he had baited and switched because he didn't want to lose the sale of the A/C replacement his guy had bid so high on. He probably lost a few sales over that and was trying to 'recover'. . He became irate and yelled at me. . He claimed he had been doing me a favor etc etc I told him "I didn't call you! You called me and not only did he keep 'leading' me astray but then he didn't put in the American Standard silver 14 seer that his sales rep had written in the original bid which is a higher quality unit than what he installed" He also threatened to come back and take the A C unit and let my mom suffer in the heat even after I made partial payment. We've gone round and round 4 or 5 times now on the phone.. NO contract was ever signed by me or my mother... all this was done over the phone .. When I called him OUT on several points he just kept telling me it was my fault or my handy mans fault for telling him the problem was the evaporator coil..... my head spins thinking about how absurd this guy is! I've talked to two other companies with great reputations to ask their opinion whose initials are HB and V and G (my long time h v a c guy) and they all feel I got baited and switched as does my builder/handy man who I've had do things for 9 years and whose opinion I completely respect. I've paid them $2700 and am giving *** the $300 ****** rebate and that is all I intend to do... well maybe $200 more and that would be what my net would have been had the warranty been valid but maybe not since they didn't put in American Standard but lesser equipment..... I don't know yet...... He never left any warranty info or rebate info... I had to call Ameren and a supervisor had to get on Dan's case to stop him from deliberately messing with the rebate because he threatened to let the rebate time period and application expire even when I told him I would sign the rebate $ over to him... I told him he was stubbornly cutting off his nose to spite his face. He didn't believe I would give him the rebate money but I had called Amen and told them to sign it over to him which I fully intend to do once I get the paper work... if they ever send it to me. Maybe next time Dan Seliga won't bait and switch or blame me for his 'mistake' or anyone else. He also claims that his company is SO SO SO superior to other companies out there and that is why he can justify charging more than other companies ..... at which point I said "If your workers are trained SO much better than other companies why did both of these units only last 8 years if your installations etc are so superior"?? He didn't have an answer for that and blamed the manufacturer. He is now threatening me with a law suit etc etc and said he'd tell me basically what a schmuck I am if he ever gets to meet me in person. I don't think he is all there...............which I then reminded him he did meet me in person when I came to his office to pay the $2700! I asked him if her was actually serious that he didn't remember meeting me when I went to his office in person ..when I dealt with and spoke to him directly face to face when I paid him ... it was a little surreal .... that he didn't remember.......and then he said "Oh yeah I remember now"...... very very odd... So I'm not budging on this As a singe woman who has been taken advantage of in the past. This is where the rubber meets the road. Maybe next time he'll think twice before starts dangling carrots to rope someone with bad practices ... before he does something like this again... He's been compensated

"Mrs [Member Name Removed], I apologize that we ended up in this dispute. As I have reiterated through our many phone conversations I had the best of intentions and all along was just trying to help you out. I'm sorry that you feel the way you do. Since you have only paid 2/3's of the amount owed, I'm not sure what else I can do for you, but I'm willing to try. Please call if you would like to discuss further."

The person I talked to when scheduling the appointment was professional. Although they did not offer an Angieslist discount he did point me to their web site which had a $20 off coupon. That was nice of him. Their tech Wayne called before coming, he arrived within the scheduled time period and was professional in all respects. I would have liked to have seen a photo id card but with the van parked out front it was ok.

Our unit stopped working Labor Day morning.   By 12:00, Seliga had someone there to fix it and was up and running in less than an hour.   The tech had everything he needed to fix the capacitor.  Could not of asked for better service, especially on a holiday!  Highly recommend them to anyone.

When I realized I absolutely had to replace my dying furnace and air conditioner, I researched online what was available.  I was quickly overwhelmed by all the choices.  I got three estimates; (1) my long time repair and maintenance company, (2) man recommended by a friend, and (3) Seliga which I found on Angie's List.  Jerry, the salesman from Seliga, came to my home and explained why my old system never worked properly and what I needed to replace it.  He took time to measure the house and answer all my questions.  On the date of installation last week, three men showed up exactly on time and I immediately could tell they knew  what they were doing.  More men showed up during the day (I guess it was a slow day) and they finished earlier than I hoped.  They left the basement floor and outside steps cleaner than they found them.  I was elated at the smooth operation until the next morning when I found I had no hot water.  They neglected to relight the pilot light on the hot water heater.  I called the office and they sent a man out promptly.  In five minutes he had the problem fixed and apologized for the inconvenience.   I plan to use Seliga's maintenance plan twice a year and would HIGHLY recommend this company.

Seliga is the BEST!  I have used them for many, many years both for my home and for my business.  They offer the automatic preventative maintenance on both your air-conditioning and furnace systems prior to the start of each season.  They thoroughly check, clean and maintain every part of the system and test them before leaving.  If there is a problem with the system they are very prompt in responding.  Seliga is well known in the St. Louis area for very good reason.  Their work and work ethic reflects their professinalism.  They are thorough, neat, courteous and helpful.  I would not think of using another company!  I love their auto-service option.  I don't have to worry about forgetting to have my systems checked and maintained twice a year.  They do that for me and they do it well.

I called Seliga when we found the furnace had stopped working, they came when they said the would, and promptly and efficiently solved the problem. They were the company that originally had installed this furnace and A/C about fifteen years ago. Very satisfied with them.

This was the second time we used Seliga, both times they have had same day service, were prompt, courteous, open about the work that needed to be performed, gave an estimate before doing the work and we're knowledgeable about our furnace even though it is 30 years old. We are getting a quote from them on a replacement as well.

Mixed reviews on completed work.  The first repairman who came was very nice and seemed well intentioned, but seemed overwhelmed by the job.  He spent HOURS looking at the gas line in the basement and marking leaks with little pieces of tape.  I told him to just replace the entire line--which was suggested by Laclede Gas, as it would be probably be cheaper to do so rather than have him spend so much time trying to find individual leaks.  Finally, another repairman came to help him and he seemed
much more knowledgeable and capable.  They had to come back the next day to actually do the repair work, but ultimately completed the job.
Seliga gave us a discount off of the total invoice (I think in recognition of the first reppairman's confusion/inexperience).  So in the end, we felt that the cost was fairly reasonable, although perhaps still a little high for the work done.
