I have this service for Internet access. The DSL modem quit working. I spoke with a technician over the phone, and she determined the modem had failed. I got a free replacement modem shipped a couple of days later. The new modem worked fine.

It is a little pricey when you factor in that you have to pay for telephone service. It is very easy to set up service. They like to offer rebates, but it is VERY hard to get them to follow thru on the rebates. It took approx 1 year and many, many phone calls to finally get mine. The internet service is great. It is fast and we have never had connectivity problems.

In general, interactions with SBC have been good, much better for internet than phone service. We have used customer service successfully for troubleshooting a couple of times. Our recent speed upgrade worked fine, but took 7-10 days, longer than I thought it should. Overall, we've been pleased with the product and service.

Great. Except for the many, many people you may have to go through first, some with absolutely incorrect information, when you get to those techs they sure know what they are doing. Chris was polite, professional, answered all of my questions, came out twice to remedy the situation, and fixed everything. He also gave me his information so that if I had a problem I could go directly to him, saving me lots of time on the phone. Thank you Chris! (All of this was at no cost as the problem was on their end.)

Having had experience with numerous Internet providers, I think the service from SBC (now AT&T) as good as any. The DSL service itself is reliable and the phone support is decent (not excellent). My best impression is that the company seems willing to roll a truck when necessary, and quickly, to clear up a problem, tho it will make you first jump through numerous phone-support hoops. Such a better experience than with another company high-speed Internet service.

I HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH DSL CONNECTION. IT'S FAST AND HAS BEEN FAIRLY RELIABLE. THE PROBLEM COMES WHEN HAVING TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE OR TECH SUPPORT. NOT THE GREATEST TO DEAL WITH. I SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE I UNDERSTAND MORE OF WHAT'S GOING ON THAN TECH SUPPORT DOES. WITH BILLING ISSUES, IT SEEMS LIKE IT TAKES MULTIPLE CALLS TO GET PROBLEM FIXED.

I CONDUCTED A COMPARISON BETWEEN SEVERAL INTERNET PROVIDERS, AND SBC YAHOO IN ORDER TO SELECT MY SERVICE PROVIDER. EVEN THOUGH SIGNING UP WITH SBC MEANT GETTING A TELEPHONE LINE (WHICH I DIDN'T HAVE DUE TO MY MOBILE PHONE), THEY HAD THE BEST RATE. I OPTED TO GET THE "WIRELESS" HOME SYSTEM AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN THE EQUIPMENT SHOWED UP A FEW DAYS EARLIER THAN IT WAS PROMISED. (THE WIRELESS SYSTEM ADDED ABOUT $90 TO THE COST OF INSTALLATION AFTER REBATES.) SETTING UP THE SYSTEM WAS AS EASY AS PLUGGING IN A PHONE AND STICKING A CD IN THE COMPUTER. I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THE SBC CONNECTION SPEED AND THEIR ADDED SECURITY FEATURES.

SBC'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES REQUIRES THE CUSTOMER TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM TO EACH PERSON THAT THE CALL IS TURNED OVER TO FOR ASSISTANCE. I WAS TURNED OVER TO FOUR DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS IN ONE PHONE CALL ONE OF THE TIMES THAT I CALLED. NONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS SOLVED MY PROBLEM.

WE RECENTLY GOT A NEW COMPUTER AN NO LONGER WANTED TO MESS AROUND WITH A DIAL UP CONNECTION. SBC YAHOO DSL WAS AVAILABLE IN OUR AREA AND THEY GENERALLY RUN A SPECIAL FOR $25 OR $29 PER MONTH. I KNOW THIS IS $10 TO $15 HIGHER THAN OTHER DIAL UP SERVICES, BUT MAN IS IT WORTH IT. THE INTERNET PAGES COME UP LIKE YOU'RE FLIPPING PAGES IN A BOOK. SINCE IT DOES SHARE YOUR EXISTING PHONE LINE, YOU HAVE TO INSTALL FILTERS ON YOUR PHONES. THIS IS AN EASY TASK, AS SIMPLE AS UNPLUGGING THE PHONE, PLUGGING IN THE FILTER AND THEN PLUGGING THE PHONE BACK IN. I HAVE NOTICED NO REDUCTION IN CLARITY ON THE PHONE AND YOU CAN TALK ON IT WHILE SURFING THE WEB (DIFFERENT FREQUENCES). I LOOKED INTO CHARTER PIPELINE (CABLE). I HAVE FRIENDS TELL ME IT'S EQUALLY FAST, BUT I DON'T HAVE CHARTER SERVICE AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE IT TO ME A LA CARTE. DIRECT TV WAS VERY EXPENSIVE AND YOU NEEDED A SEPERATE, BIGGER, DISH. I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY. I TOOK THE EXTRA PRECAUTION OF INSTALLING A ROUTER W/FIREWALL.
