Their website showed a $19 or $29 service charge. When I called, and asked if that was the price for what I needed they said yes, and then the technician would tell me the price when he got there and figured out what needed to be done. The guy and his apprentice arrived relatively quickly - maybe 45 minutes or so after I called. He said it was a Schwag lock and they're hard to unlock. He had what looked like a homemade unlocking tool and jiggled it a long time, then had the kid/apprentice go get other tools one at a time and jiggled more and couldn't unlock it. He told me the only options were to jimmy the door, which could ruin the wood door, or to yank out the whole doorknob and lock, which would ruin then and require them to be replaced. Since I needed to get in to print something for an afternoon appointment, I told him to yank out the whole thing. He did that quickly, then handed me a bill for $189! I told him that was bait and switch as I expected to pay $19 or $29. He said that was just the charge for coming out, the labor for their (30 minutes) of work was $140 and then there was some other charge. He said it was my responsibility to ask him for an estimate, and since I didn't, he charged normal rate.. I expected him to tell me the cost as the dispatcher had reported to me. Since I had an appointment and had to leave, I agreed to pay $80. But I feel I was ripped off. Last time I had a locksmith, it was $40 and it was a more difficult door. Not very professional manners and a website with numerous typos, I regret ever calling them.
