On December 13th I had the electricity in my home updated. RJP electric was recommended by a friend that said they were "ok". The people that came to do the work were polite and diligent but every conversation with Tom for organizing was complicated. Tom originally came to look at the house to determine what work needed to be done. He was short and rude during this process. I have a house made in the 1880s, there were a few points I wanted to go over and he mentioned that if he was here more than 15 minutes I would start being charged hourly. While I should have let this be enough to find someone else, I understand the time of others, especially those in trades, is important. I might have caught him on a bad day so I proceeded to move forward with the job. The day after the work was completed on the 14th he sent an inspector to my home with an hour notice at 9:30am. I work nights running my company and this derailed everything for that day that was planned. I said I needed more notice than an hour for when people are going to be at my home and he proceeded to blame the workers that were here the day before for not notifying me. The interaction was filled with more frustration as the main goal of the job was not completed. While this could have been an easy fix with missing this in the original contract and coming back out with a new contract, I have hired a more trustworthy company to finish the work and to check on the details of our contract contract RJP due to how this was handled. After having 2 hours of sleep and being told "oh well, I'm sorry but they should have told you" displays the lack of professionalism in how this company is organized. There were a few points of needing to come back out from the original contract that I discussed with the workers and Tom was unaware of this. He also wanted to brow beat me by exclaiming that he had done nothing wrong, I should have looked more closely at the contract, by saying the contract was completed and that his original notes never mentioned the stove I needed installed. The goal of having the electrical update was to install the new stove for more production for my company. If more time was taken during the initial check, if I had more electrical knowledge or if Tom was more attentive all of this could have been avoided After paying $4300 on work for my home and to be treated in this disregarding, complacent manner is frustrating. Take the time to find someone more trustworthy and cares more about your home and your time.

We have used RJP Electric in the past and they have always been prompt and professional. Yesterday I had them replace three dimmer switches. The total bill was $450, much higher than I expected, mostly because of an elevated materials cost. I posted about it here, and I was delighted when I was contacted by RJP today to address the issue. They seemed really committed to making things right, and given our good experiences with them in the past and their desire to quick rectify this more mixed-experience, I am pleased with their service.

I spent about $1500. I have a detached garage. So they investigated as to why the power no longer worked. The existing line was compromised. So, the electrician gave me a number of options. I countered with additional ones, but we ended up going with one of his options. That option required a trench which was 18 inches below grade according to code. The line had to go from the back of the house to tap on to an existing circuit in the back room to go into the garage. I don’t plan to use any high-powered equipment and so I didn’t require a huge amount up to code for the line. There wasn’t a whole lot on that line that they tapped into. I tried to dig it myself, but I couldn’t do it in the time that I had. So, he hired somebody to dig the trench and we had a lot of roots. They busted through all that and laid the line and it worked. I don’t know any better and I am a normal human being. I am not an expert with any of this stuff.
Description of Work: RJP Electric installed an electric line in my garage in May. They also had to have a trench dug underground to lay the electric line.
