Lowell was easy to talk with and understanding of our needs, he added his expert advice to our plan. Employees showed up on time and worked hard. After the job was complete, Lowell said he did "thousands and thousands of dollars in extra work". My husband and I didn't feel like we should pay more for "extra work" we never approved or agreed upon. The contract specifically states, no additional fees unless additional work is agreed upon in writing. So the job ended on a sour note. He was suppose to come back and fix a few pavers, I'm guessing due to the sour note, he never did. Within months, the one wall is no longer straight, in dips down in two spots, which is very noticeable since the blocks should have a straight line. Then, after our first heavy rainfall, the blocks on the end fell/caved, we left msgs but no call back. We had to hire and pay someone else to fix it. Knowing what I've learned, I think he underbid the job and I think this job was too big for him and his company.

Everything went exactly as it should. Lowell gave me an estimate very quickly and installed the drainage pipe a few days later. His estimate was considerably less than two other estimates and he seemed interested in doing the best job for the best price.

Job went well.  Work was as expected.  Now the runoff from the gutters is distributed away from the side of the house.  Windows are protected and basement is dryer as a result.  Step 1 in getting my basement fully finished and watertight.  I recommend this contractor for this type of grading and drainage work.

They tore down an old retainer wall and replaced it around my flower bed. They said there was more dirt than they had thought. My said it was ok for them to put some dirt in a few low places in the back yard. We had a spot tilled up in the back yard to put in a garden, they filled that up with dirt and spread grass seed and put hay on it. They also  threw the rest of the dirt up into my flowers, almost burying them. They just about killed 2 of my rose bushes. I asked for a few more blocks on the wall. It just didn't look right to me. The boss said if I wanted them I'd have to pay for them. They left a steel rod sticking out of the end. The man said he would be back to cut that off the next day, I knew after I paid him he wouldn't be back.

Signed agreement in October. Didn't hear about scheduled start date so contacted office. I thought it was too late in the season and that job would need to wait for Spring. But after Christmas the work began. 3 men and a bobcat had all shrubs removed and old bricks out in one day. All materials I wanted to keep were placed where I specified. The crumbled bricks and green debris all removed and street and driveway swept before they left for the day. Following week the stone arrived and work began. I think only a couple days weather was a problem. As stonework went down I was kept informed of any issues. All my questions answered onsite by Chris, George, Todd or by owner Lowell by text. Any issues were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. Each day the tools and dirt were cleaned up leaving driveway and walkway clear of debris. Bobcat made some ruts when pulling out yew stumps. The men were careful to thread the bobcat in between 3 established magnolia trees and no damage evident. Ruts were filled at end of job with seed and straw over fill. The soil fill in flower beds looks to be good quality and amended. Job bid did not include shrubs. The sod is thick and beautiful. Hoping for great results in the Spring. Broken sewer clean out stack was fitted with PVC cap and rubber gasket.

The job was to replace two timber tie-walls, one about 28' and the other about 53' long with stone retaining walls. I was never home to watch any of the work, and despite most of our correspondence being  done by e-mail, phone, or hand-written notes, the job was done well.  The old walls were removed, the new one built with proper drainage, and the disturbed areas were seeded and covered with straw.  With additional effort the contractor was able to get the color I preferred.  I'm pleased with the results.  The quality of the finished wall is great and a big improvement.
Trying to beat a forecast of bad December weather, the job was started on short notice and done quickly.  I didn't have time to move the existing landscaping rock so a lot of it was buried, and my request to save some of the good timbers apparently came too late.   Clean-up of timber splinters could have been a little better, and although I asked that the wall be placed in the same location as the old one, the new one was built four to six inches further out.  This is not a big deal except that the base of the new wall crowds very close to two trees leaving little room for their growth.  Not sure how that will affect the wall or the trees in the coming years.
I contacted about six contractors in October.  Three actually came out and gave me estimates.  One was twice the amount of Missouri Landscape.

It was a very good experience.  The company responded quickly and worked me into its schedule despite my last-minute request, the crew finished the job in a few days, and they did excellent work.  Furthermore, they were professional and friendly which is great considering that they were working in high temperatures and high humidity.

Mr. Lowell Kottwitz came to install a new drive way, sidewalks,a couple of pads and fix a lose gate post. All the work want on
.   in an average manner I guess, but when the new concrete set up it had the color of 10w-30. I swear it looked like someone poured   oil in the concrete. The next week he sealed it with a concrete sealer, they rolled it on with rollers and they rolled this way and that way ,up and down , left and right .So when they where done you could see streaks all over the 10w-30 driveway. To get rid of the streaks some days later he took off the sealer using muramic acid which also took off the top finish. The concrete just looks terrible and for this 9,287 dollars were paid. The latest fix is to let the sun bleach it out.(REALLY) A letter was written asking for the work to be re-done or the money retuned.A few days later MR. KOTTWITZ called on the phone YELLING AND SCREAMING, saying he would do neither that the driveway and sidewalks are just fine and the sun would bleach them out to look good as new by spring time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The    gate post he concreted in fixed the looseness but the gate does not   swing without sticking now. To be clear it was I who recommended this contractor off ANGIES LIST to my 69 year old mother- in-law and feel totally responsible, that is why I am writing this review.     NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR TO ANYONE!!!

Response from Missouri Landscape
"I have been in business for 16 years and have a 100% satisfaction of my customers. Driveway was sealed before curring was complete so customer would not have to stay off for another day. Upon receiving call from her stating she was unhappy with discoloration I arrived next day. I and my staff used muraic acid and purchased stripper from Nu-way to remove sealeer, which cost me approx $500 plus labor out of my pocket. I assured her that the sun will bleach the concrete to the correct color & when it does I will return to seal at no cost. I also told her that if she is unhappy with the color of the driveway next year, I would replace it at no cost. I spent a lot of extra time and money trying to make this customer happy prior to the complaint; the fence that is mentioned was repaired and stained at no cost (as a favor), I never agreed nor quoted repairing the gate. I also patched concrete floor in garage at no cost. I do approximately 100 jobs per year and have never worked with such a difficult customer. I have ALWAYS stood behind my work and always will. Sorry for your dissatisfaction and unrealistic expectations."

Once Missouri Landscape started on the job they got down to business and seemed to do things in an orderly process.  They took a little over a day to tear down the old wall and then spent the next two days rebuilding it.  They discovered in tearing down the original wall that the cloth backing that had been installed had fallen down probably during the backfilling process......  Where the original wall had been vertical, Missouri Landscape stepped the blocks as each layer was laid.  In addition they installed a perforated drain pipe behind the first layer of blocks along the length of the wall.  All the work was done manually which insured that the cloth backing had little chance of falling down as the backfilling took place.  I was also impressed as each layer of blocks was installed that great care was taken to make sure things were straight and level.  Derek Simmons was in charge for most of the work and kept things running smoothly...

I purposely waited to give this review, as I wanted to make sure I did not get any water in my basement since the service.  I was getting some water in my basement on the North and West ends of my house during heavy rains.  I talked to 2 other companies, and both of them involved the installation of a sump pump system, which would have cost me either $7000 or $10000.  I wanted a less invasive solution if possible, and that is when I talked with Missouri Landscaping.
They indicated that they believed the service I obtained would work best for the short term, and might eliminate the problem entirely.  Thus far I have not had any water in my basement, and I know that we had at least 5 rains in the past year which would caused water in the basement previously.
The only downside is that I am not a big fan of the looks of a window well (although I have had no problems with them), and it seems that the area which was graded away from my house has "shrunk" about 2-3 inches (which to me means the area filled was not compacted 100% properly).  However, aside from those 2 relatively minor issues, I am happy with the results.  I should also mention that I received a free estimate, work was done within the promised 2 week time period, and the overall job was completed in 2 consecutive days.
I hope this helps others regarding their confidence in Missouri Landscape.

The entire process was very easy- Lowell came out and told us what we needed to do to help redirect water from our side yard.  He was able to do the work quickly, and the quality of the work was great.  They dug out our side yard, added 4 window wells, ran out 40' of PVC, graded with about 8 inches of dirt- all in one day.  The price was fair for the level of work being requested.

Project went great and Lowell is a real stand up guy good to his word and wants his customers happy.  Heck he didn't take any money down until we were satisfied.  (That says a lot about his confidence.) other bidders asked for as much as 50% up front.
The crew was great and would definitely recommend and use them again.

I was extremely happy with the entire experience working with Missouri Landscape from the responsiveness of the company to my initial inquiry, to the prompt estimate, to the workers who completed to job, to the quality of the work completed. The brick patio, while small, is exquisitely sited, perfectly designed, and beautifully installed--all exactly to my specification. The men that arrived to do the work on site were extremely polite, and worked well with me to make some last minute additions and changes to the placement of border bricks, etc. I would absolutely work with this company again for any landscaping needs.

Went very well, no complaints at all. Very receptive to change in middle of project which included changing the layout of the walkway and adding another small retaining wall.
