I FEEL WE WERE SIGNIFICANTLY OVERCHARGED FOR THE WORK DONE. IT IS OUR OWN FAULT FOR NOT GETTING ANY OTHER BIDS. WHEN MIKE MILBOURN ESTIMATED THE JOB, HE TOLD MY HUSBAND THE PRICE WAS HIGH BECAUSE OF THE DIFFICULTY IN SETTING UP WITH SCAFFOLDING, ETC. TO WORK ON THE ROOF. THEY ARRIVED AT 8:30 WITH FOUR MEN AND A SCHOOL KID. THEY WERE FINISHED AND READY TO LEAVE AT 10:30. EVEN IF YOU COUNT THE TEENAGER AS A JOURNEYMAN MASON, THAT'S A RATE OF $137.50 PER MAN HOUR FOR TWO HOURS' WORK. THE ONLY MATERIAL THEY FURNISHED WAS MORTAR. WHEN WE QUESTIONED THE PRICE, THEY TOLD US THE RATE FOR A TUCKPOINTER WAS $26.75 PER HOUR. IT SEEMS TO ME THEY TOOK AN UNREASONABLY HIGH PROFIT MARKUP. MY RATING OF THE QUALITY IS BASED ON APPEARANCE FROM A LAY PERSPECTIVE. MY OPINION MAY BE COLORED BY MY SOUR ATTITUDE ABOUT THE PRICE.
