The contractor salesperson and crew were timely, knowledgeable and professional and knew their stuff. During excavation for the piers, it became evident that we did not have a normal Foundation, but rather a stair-stepped foundation requiring more work than originally determined. Upon conferring with the company owner, we decided to go ahead and increase the contract price for the additional 5 to 7 work days that it would take to navigate through all of the additional excavation of concrete in a patio area as well as a sidewalk there was stair-stepped Foundation. The work was completed professionally and clean up, including pouring new concrete where the patio piers and sidewalk p i e r s had been placed, was done exceptionally well. We would recommend Mid-America appearing again based on what we know now.

Steve came to the house and inspected the situation in detail, explaining to us what he saw. We then sat down for is explanation of what he could do for us, how the work would be performed and what the realistic results would be. The estimated was not the cheapest nor the most expensive of the four we received.  The project took 3 days as agreed. The gentlemen were always on time or early to start their day. They kept us informed every day as to their progress. We were told we probably would not get the garage back to its original position but that they would try to get close and that is exactly what happened. We did have a small issue when the garage was lifted back into place but it was addressed and resolved immediately. I would recommend and use them again!

It went very well. I called Mid America to look at this wall when I was thinking of buying the house. Rick came out on very short notice to look at the issue and give me a quote. Their quick response and evaluation of the problem  was one of the reasons we decided to buy the home. Mid America's repair crew came at the appointed time. The two young men who came worked very hard all day digging and setting the piers. There were no complications or changes to the original quote or evaluation. They cleaned up after themselves and now my wall is stabilize.

The work was performed expertly.  The scheduling was a challenge.  I felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by taking time away from their real jobs to perform my little job.  I had to call multiple times to get a response when they had to reschedule.  the person who came to give me the estimate was very knowledgeable, but again, acted a bit like he was put out to do such a small job.  However, I am very pleased with the result and would use them again if I needed this type of work done.

Update - you are correct on the dates and dollars. Thank you for your response, I have updated my grades, and FYI, I have referred other people to you.

"I am sorry you felt like it took a while, you signed your contract on 2-4-13 and mailed it in, I show we received it on 2-6-13 and had you taken care of by the 3-15-13. I do not show any other work done since then. The cost that you paid for your crack repair was only $270.00, normally our crack repairs are $400.00 so you really did get a good deal on this, I do understand that you had a coupon, that we accepted after the time of inspection, which are supposed to be give while the inspector is there, so I feel you were not a 100% satisfied, we strive to make all of our customers happy and we know it is not easy, but we do try. Please let us know if there is any thing else we can do and if you have another contract where we did work for you in November for $500.00 please let us know as I do not have any record of it."

I had them come out two different times. The first them they did one side of our garage full repair for $800 on one side. Then about the last time I had them back again for the other side of the garage for two more. They have to drill the crates we live and it's hard concrete. So, they had to do a lot drilling to put these rods underneath the foundation of my garage. Initially when they came out to put in the sub division I didn't at the time I found it out the years that when they level the ground out there was huge sinkholes. So, we got caves and what they did they build this over those caves and they build in the land fields and some houses come in the grab division got more soil put in and they did not put soil in.

I received three bids for my basement wall that was falling in.  I contacted Woods Basement, Mid-America Piering and another company who only wanted to raise my front porch.  That obviously wasn't going to fix my problem so they were out..  We decided on Mid-America because the cost was a little better than Woods.  We have used Woods in the past for our sump pump and other issues and their customer service is exceptional.  However, we decided to use Mid-America back in March and sent them a down payment of $1,900.  After approximately five weeks of not hearing from them to start the work, I called the office and spoke to the receptionist, Lisa.  She immediately started yelling at me stating "she had left me two messages and had it documented on her records that she called me."  I never received these messages and was instantly put on the defense.  She stated she would have to get back to me on a time to schedule a "new time for them to come out since I never returned her phone call and now she had to find a new time that would work for them." We went on a short trip the last week of May and I called the office again as soon as we returned..  Once again, I had the displeasure of speaking with Lisa, who again attacked me with her nasty attitude about having called me and leaving two messages, which she adamantly insisted she had documented on her records that she called.  As I work from home and am always here, she never left me a message.  The receptionist for Mid-America, Lisa, was so nasty to me on the phone and was talking over me to such a degree that I had to tell her she needed to be quiet and let me speak.  She did let me speak and then said, "can I speak now?" And boy did she let me have it.  After defending myself to her and getting really upset after almost five minutes, I told her I no longer wanted them to do the work and to send my a refund of my $1,900.  She then said, "let me let you speak to Rick."  When Rick got on the phone he immediately asked me what my phone number was.  I told him and he informed me that they had the wrong telephone number.  Lisa had written a 1 instead of a 7 in my number and I never did receive an apology for the way she treated me on the phone.  Rick said they could start the work the following week, so I decided to go ahead and use them because we had been waiting over two months for them already to finish the job.  The workers were great and did a great job, but their receptionist Lisa is the contact person with their office and I would fire her immediately for her attitude with customers.  Because she is such a nasty person to deal with on the phone, she is most certainly losing customers for Mid-America.  Their workmanship and workers were fine, but a person shouldn't have to pay as much money as it cost to fix foundation problems and deal with such a nasty person on the phone just to get the work scheduled.  I will never use Mid-America again unless Lisa is no longer an employee.  She was the most hateful person I have ever dealt with on the phone to pay good money for services.  I hope she is just an employee and not one of the owners because it would really be a slap in the face knowing she was really benefitting from my $$$.  LISA NEEDS TO GO!
I am leaving a negative overall rating for communication and responsiveness because of Lisa and the length of time it took to get the work completed.  Had she written my phone number legibly enough for even her to read her own handwriting, or had she even had a nicer attitude and confirmed my phone number as Rick did, my overall opinion of the company would be a lot different.

"First of all I am Lisa and I would truly like to apologize to Member for the ill will that she has towards me, I have been working for Mid America Piering for 14 yrs and this is the first complaint that I have had from any one stating that I have a nasty attitude, and I hope that you will not let this stop you from giving Mid America Piering a chance, because of a mistake that was made in her phone number she was not happy at all that we did not contact her and yes that is my fault but we are all human and mistakes do happen and I did try to explain it to her and she would not listen so my boss who was in the office at the time over heard the conversation and he took over and apologized to Member and let her know that it was due to a number that was typed wrong on her contract. I would like to personaly apologize for the mistake and hope that she will not hold this against Mid America Piering and that she would use again."

excellent experience. thier estimator was prompt, professional and very informative. The work was done in a very professional manner and since then we have not had a drop of water leaking in our basement( and there have been many heavy rains to test their work) A previous company tried for several months to fix the cracks and still were not sucessfull. Mid American Piering came and sealed everything up on a few hours.Great work. Would highly recommend them ot anyone with basement leakage problems

Noticed signs of settling on my home (doors not closing, cracks in the drywall, windows not opening, drywall seems separating, widen foundation cracks, etc.).  This was the second repair company I contacted for a proposal.  Gentleman called when he was on his way and arrived on time.  I was given essentially the same repair plan as the first company with two very notable exceptions.  1)  Was told that piers can be placed 8ft apart rather than 6ft which reduces the cost overall.  2)  All holes are hand dug rather than using a mini-excavator as the first company wanted to do which greatly reduces the yard damage.  Overall this company had the better proposal and was even about 1/3 cheaper on price.  Was told repair could start in about 5 weeks.  However, work didn't start for almost 12 weeks and this was really my only complaint with the company.  In their defense there were several rain events which really slows down their work and I myself was responsible for 2 postponements (had I been available work would have begun at 9 weeks).  I just felt that they could have done better communicating schedule to me, but I had to call several times for updates.

Once the work begun the project foreman walked through the project with me.  Some of the piers would be installed inside since the basement was unfinished while some were outside (inside or outside was somewhat of a judgement call with my input depending on the depth of hole to dig outside to reach the footing of the foundation - inside isn't always easier either as they have to break through concrete, remove gravel, then backfill gravel, and repour concrete).  They tried to plan their work according to the weather forecast which was quite rainy.  When it was time to begin lifting the foundation they requested that I be there as they'd need to be in the main floor of the house to check windows and doors.  The work was loud at times of course.  It took about 9 working days to complete the project.  I live in the St. Charles area and all the piers reached a depth of about 25-30ft (there is an extra charge beyond 30ft).  The 3 large cracks in the foundation were filled with epoxy and no water has leaked in since.  Everything was cleaned up very well.  The pier installation appeared to be successful and the doors and windows are now squared up again and even up and close easily.  Time will tell if the fix is permanent, but the company does guarantee the work.

Overall I am very happy with the company.

Their price was reasonable compared to other quotes. They showed up on the date promised. The work was noisy and dirty as one would expect. They did a good job of cleaning up every day. The job took longer than promised: 5 days instead of the 2-3 estimate but that was not a problem for me. I would rather have it done right than rushed. My sump and pump had to be relocated slightly because of one of the piers. This was done satisfactorily. One nit pick is that I was expected to tear down a stone planter in front of the chimney when 10 minutes with their jackhammer would have done the trick. This cost me extra money to have done. Of course, the real 'quality' of the work won't be known for some time. If there is no more settling then the work was good ! Because all the piers and foundation brackets are now buried (which is normal), there's no way to know if they fail.

It?s just been three days since they have completed the job. It appears that they have done a good job. I will use them again in the future.
It has now been a year since having this work done, and things are in good shape...as you'd expect.  Only "surprises" come from the minor adjustments made over the year by the ceiling/roof.  This is not really a problem per se, and it shows up in a few of the overhead nails pushing out about 1/4" to 1/2".  Like I said, not a problem really as it appears to be nothing more than a bit of settling after the work was done.

Hopefully, I won't need to use this company again, but I certainly would...after the proper amount of negotiation.
