The sad news is that I actually went online and entered the serial number of my old furnace and it showed it was expired. I felt I would've been ripped off if Mertz hadn't gone the extra mile. I recommend them if you want an honest opinion and fast and courteous service.

"We don't clean air ducts and were letting the member know that they needed to be cleaned. The member was having a problem with his Radiant Heat, which we replaced the Bearing Assembly through his warranty company."
I did not use the furnace until November. This month I went down to change the filter in the furnace and found that they had taken the filter and smashed it flat to force it into the way too small opening. It was also sticking out 4 inches..not because it was too big, but because the metal work did not allow it to slide in all the way leaving a very large gap and the air just blew around the filter. There was also a leak in the freon piping and where they connected it there was major burning of the finish on the exterior of the furnace. I called them to come out and fix it. Their receptionist told me there would be a fee to come out and I said that I would not pay a penny to get this fixed. They came out and tried to make the filter opening bigger by bending the metal down then shoved another filter in which still stuck out 4 inched. They cranked on the nut to the freon line (a very limited effort to fix the leak) and left. I found what they did with the filter and found that the freon was still leaking the next day. I called and told them that it still wasn't fixed. They said it was fixed and they weren't coming out again. I told them I would call the insurance company to tell them it wasn't fixed and they said they already called them to inform them that it was. I was very angry and fed up with their extremely unprofessional manner and their lack of technical quality..
All this work was covered by a home owners insurance policy. I called the insurance company and told them the whole story. They told me that they were not using this company any more because of other complaints they had received. They identified another company to come out and provide an opinion. They came out and found that the way the metal work/air flow wasinstalled was not suitable, the freon was leaking and the pressure measured near zero, the installed orfice was wrong and installed the correct one which came with the unit and was still attached to it (the manufacturer provided), replaced missing service caps on heat pump, and repaired insulation on the inside of the unit that was pulled into blower (they had cut out the side of the furnace to initially bring the air from the side but the air would not have blown across the elements efficinetly so the patched the side with metal and didn't fix the insulation that they also cut up). In summary they fixed a real mess.
