This problem is apparently common in all Nissans.  They were familiar with it, had fixed it numerous times.  They explained the pros and cons of the procedure, but when I made my decision, they quickly fixed it and got me on my way.

John is knowledgeable and honest. He didn't try to sell me on something I didn't need, and made sure I understood exactly what was going on.

Meineke was quick, but it was also more painful than I expected it to be as far as price is concerned. Everything was done as scheduled and apparently correctly. My wife hasn't told me her car is doing anything she doesn't expect so I would say it is working correctly.

In a wonderful karmic twist, when I hit a dead possum with my car, it knocked something loose underneath. On the side of the road I looked under there and saw a hanging piece of metal. The metal of the exhaust system didn't look exactly clean and sparkly (as in, red and rusty instead), so I figured I was going to have to chop off some limbs to pay for this. I drove in and handed off my key. Five minutes later they handed back my key. "All set" he said. But, but I spluttered. He said it was the heat shield and it's all set. Wildly happy I drove away. You can bet I'll be back when something goes wrong again!
