new ownership not that knowledgeable +way expensive

Ok if price is no object... they had the part I needed but the price was way off base - charged 14.99 ea for electric fixture sockets that cost 2.99 to 4.99ea at Ace Hdwe, very disappointing to learn this later after an exact part comparison. I won't go there for electrical parts again. Although I've gone there off & on for many years, this is not the old Kalb Electric Co,, these are new owners within the last 10 years who are way different than Kalb was.

Larry discussed the fixture with me and suggested several possibilities for the fixture. He asked what I wanted, where the fixture would go, and how much I was willing to pay. He listened. He was wonderful to work with. I had already contacted three other companies; none made any suggestions, none were willing to do the work. Kalb did a beautiful job at a reasonable charge with a very fast turnaround.

Service person found the (not too easy to detect) problem. No problems with the outlet since.

Good timely work, but cost was higher than expected.

It went very badly because we didn't understand it really was already suitable to go into a more modern house (we wanted to give the fixture to our daughter for her newer home in another state).   Instead  of giving any advice or options, these new owners  rebuilt the  old perfectly operable fixture, charging $142 and actually not putting on the ground wire until our  discussion after we looked carefully at our bill. They charged $15 apiece for parts that were $4.29 in a local hardware store. They claimed ceramic fixtures were "made in the U.S."  until I pointed out it said China on the part.  They charged for wire that was actually part of the ceramic pieces. They taunted me for "letting your husband go out around town spending too much money."
And they made it quite clear that since they got the o.k. from my husband for their wildly overpriced work and he didn't realize he likely didn't need it done, I was just  basically out of luck.  The wife of the team at first said she would refund me my money and hope to never see me again, but  before I got a chance to suggest we split the cost, her husband approached the counter quickly and said no, I would get no money back because we gave the o.k. for the work.  The BUYER BEWARE  policy of these folks is quite clear.
They threw out a couple of untruths in our discussion and I am quite sure their response to this critique will be to deny what is said, perhaps attempt to claim again the ceramic was replacing plastic (I don't think this original part was available in plastic when it was first installed), or claim the used crossbar they gave us (we later found our original at home) was worth $10.
I understand Kalb Electric did very good and reasonable work until new ownership took over within the last year or so. NO LONGER,  Be very careful if you use them, get full details and ask a lot of questions. Look over your bill carefully when you pick up the part. You will likely need to challenge their estimate, which my trusting husband regrets he did not do.

It was a totally great experience. we went into the store looking for a new fixture to replace an ugly one. After seeing some of the antique lamps in the store and talking with Angie and Nate we realized we might be even happier with fixing up the bold, unused lamp we already had.  We brought in the old fixture, Larry quickly called with a bid, they repaired the old fixture and hung it for us - all within a couple of days. Service was friendly, consultative/helpful and quick. We appreciated their work so much that we quickly decided to have them work on another fixture we have!

The work was done quickly and my light fixture looks better that I could have imagined. The added bonus is that Larry, Angie and Nate are all very friendly, helpful and delightful to work with. This shop is under new ownership and the changes they are making are a great addition to the neighborhood!

I was very satisfied with Kalb Electric Co. I had trouble finding someone to fix the light in my yard and the gentleman came out and figured out what he thought was the problem and after he went ahead and fixed that he found there were more things wrong. He did a great job he repaired everything and I basically have a brand new yard light out there. It was a little hard to get a contractor because I think Mr. Kalb doesn't do work anymore so it was a little hard to get someone out here, but it was okay.

Work was completed in about two weeks and job was well done.   It is a small shop with a Mom and Pop feel.  They do excellent work.

My experience was pleasant. They are kind of a like a mom and pop place, so sometimes it takes awhile to get your item back. You know it’s in good hands though. I would definitely hire them again.

Called Kalb, asked for price to replace 3-way socket in floor lamp which had 3 other sockets. The 3-way had burned up. They gave me quote and we drove to the store and dropped off the lamp. Kalb gave us a date when the lamp would be ready for pick-up. We called that day and it was ready. We picked it up.

Great customer service. Old school kind of place.

WHEN I BROUGHT THE LAMP IN, THEY REPAIRED IT ON THE SPOT FOR A REASONABLE PRICE. I WOULD RETURN TO THIS STORE IN THE FUTURE.

REASONABLY PRICED. WORK COMPLETED WHEN PROMISED. SELL ODD SIZE LIGHTBULBS.

THEY REPAIRED IT FOR $12 DOLLARS, I COULDN'T BUY IT FOR THAT MUCH. IT TOOK THEM ABOUT THREE MONTHS TO DO IT.
