Jason came out and bid my job, I had 2 other Angies listers come out and he by far exceeded them on knowledge, price and know-how. When he came out and completed the job, I was thrilled. He called and asked if he could demo one layer of plywood when he realized there were 2. Now when you go from my main house to my addition it no longer looks like an addition and the hardwoods flow seamlessly from my kitchen to family room. Im sure it was a TON of extra work but Jason spent the time to do it right "like it was his house" I really appreciated that. They got the whole room done in 2 days. It looks great and I'm very happy with the results.
"The above client was one of a kind to work for. JDs flooring took on the above job knowing what kind of finished look she was looking for. There was a bit more time, and materials involved that was not foreseen in the original bid (carpet and subfloor hid most of the job), but was more than happy to get the finished product to her desire. JDs flooring would like to thank the above home owner the opportunity to beautify your home."
Jason has a special talent for explaining exactly what is to be done, and for checking with the homeowner at every step along the way. I selected "JD's Flooring" for my job because I was particularly interested in water-based and earth friendly practices, and this is something JD's Flooring does as standard operating procedure. It's important not to expose children to unnecessary fumes, and ethically, I feel better when tradesmen use less toxic products.
JD's uses the "dustless" sanding equipment as standard practice, so there is not an extra fee for that. I chose a water-based sealer over oil based. There are benefits to both, and fortunately, there have been improvements in water-based sealers in recent years. We put three coats of sealant on our floors.
It is the homeowner's responsibility to move furniture out of the room, although Jason helped me with some of that. The floor is then sanded, which is noisy but does not generate much dust, if any, at all. It doesn't take too long. What takes time is waiting for the stain to dry, and then the sealant to dry, as each coat must dry before the next coat is added. So you are out of your kitchen or bedroom for about three days while Jason and his helper pop in and out for a few hours at a time.
You have to keep the windows closed during the process, so that dust doesn't get between the layers of sealant, but the smell was very slight, which I appreciated. Be prepared to make a decision on the stain color for your floor, which is never easy. It seems to be more of an art than a science.
There were a few spots on the floor where I didn't like how the stain came out, and Jason came right over and fixed it for me. That's the main thing: it's always great to find a vendor who will go the distance to make you happy. Future customers can be comfortable knowing that Jason does this for a living, is very good at communicating, and will go the distance to make sure you are happy with your end product.
Jason (and crew) started and finished in a timely manner. After finishing the basics, they waited while I had vinyl flooring installed. They then came back and installed the shoe molding and room transitions.
The final product. The 100 year old oak floors look brand new and gleaming, totally flat (no ripples).
Jason is professional, dependable, thorough, did everything he said and did a beautiful job at a *VERY* reasonable price.
Thanks Jason!

"Educating customers is our number 1 goal. We like to leave customers with a detail list of products to use and not use on their floors. This goes a long way in preserving your newly finished floors. Look forward to continue to do additional work with the above client. Any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to call."
When Jason came by to do the bid, he talked with me about what I wanted and what my priorities were. He asked if I had wood stock to match the floors (I did), as that would provide the best match. We talked about patches: should they be round (the holes were nearly round) or square, to match the existing floor boards. Jason suggested square and, boy, was he right! We both recognized that it would be impossible to give a firm bid for all of the work, as we did not know what would be under the carpet. The bid Jason gave me was very clear about what was covered in the price quoted as well as the possible costs (time and materials) for additional work.
Once the work was started, Jason was great. He adjusted what he was doing based on my feedback, he warned me about what areas couldn't be walked on for how long (important when that involves the stairs to the 2nd floor!) and worked with my schedule to do the work in a reasonable time. The final job looks amazing - in a few months, when the old and recently finished areas even out in their color, you won't be able to tell radiators were ever there. I would absolutely recommend Jason and will call him again when I have more floor work to do.
"The above clientele was a pleasure to work with. An older home in [member info removed] with much original work. We strive to educate the customer, and give in full details what work will be performed. There was a bit more patching that was not listed due to carpet covering, and no issues what so ever in completing the tasks. Clients like [member name removed] our always A+. Thank You"
"The member was a great customer. Mixing both my ideas and hers, we were able to come up with a great flooring design. The degree of difficulty of the floor, was a bit high. Many angles, and one of the more difficult colors to work with.Overall a beautiful floor was completed. Thank you for your buisness, and any references are appreciated."
