James and his crew did a fantastic job tuckpointing my 114 year old brick. We had some leaks in the walls and needed extensive tuckpointing. They also did a great job replacing one of the exterior window sills that had rotted and was causing water to seep in under the window. The crew came early each day and worked full days until the job was done. They cleaned up after themselves so well you wouldn't have even known they were there. On top of all that they were very nice people and the price was really affordable. I highly recommend them.

James is not just a tuckpointer, he is an artisan. Our South City “Gingerbread” has very intricate tuckpointing with various colors and designs. The tuckpointing on this house actually is a huge part of its curb appeal. James is an artist. There are very few people that have his knowledge and skill level. He is a master craftsman AND he’s very reasonably priced and honest. If you need tuckpointing done your search is over.

Got several estimates and picked Mr. Cox for his common sense approach to the job, We did it in three parts.

They did an excellent job. They were professional. They cleaned up when the job was complete. The cost was much less than other bids. Very happy with this work.

I went with them because they had good reviews on Angieslist and he was close to us, kind of local company. His price was better of the two estimates that we got. The work was done well. We were little unhappy with the clean up job that was done.

THIS WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. I HAD GOTTEN TWO ESTIMATES. THIS WAS THE LOWEST. THEY WERE PUNCTUAL AND FINISHED ON TIME. THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY PROMISED. THEY CLEANED UP AND WERE PLEASANT TO WORK WITH.

He was very prompt and gave us an estimate. Then he measured and gave some suggestions. We scheduled him and he completed the job quickly. I would use them in future.

It went very well. The wall looks great and we were happy with how quickly we were able to schedule and get the job done once we hired James Cox Tuckpointing. The bid was the only reasonable one (of three) that we got to do this work.

They gave us a prompt estimate and once we decided to use their company they fixed the sidewalk in a timely manner. Since its our front walk, I was concerned about how it would look. It looks great.

James Sr.(owner)stopped out a couple days after we called for a bid. He was extremely polite and amiable and spent at least 15 minutes talking with us and suggesting solutions we might consider; it was his suggestion to apply the ThoroSeal, which sounded better than some strategies other contractors had proposed. Also, a different tuck pointer we'd asked for a bid came by and never even spoke with us, though we'd explicitly asked him to so we could explain our situation. We didn't at all get the sense he was pressuring us to do more than necessary; in fact, he made it pretty clear that the cracks we wanted him to tuck point probably weren't the main source of our basement leakage)We've also been trying landscaping approaches). He mailed us a bid about a week later, and the work was scheduled a few weeks out. His son, James Jr., came out at and did the work. He was also very polite and amiable. Basically, he came out in the morning and started setting stuff up(e.g., mixing the ThoroSeal)then showed me what he was planning to do inside and out; he even identified some places inside where chunks of concrete were popping out and said he'd knock them out and smooth them over with new concrete before applying the sealant. The work took several hours but was done by late afternoon, at which point he showed me in detail what he'd done and said to contact them if any problems came up related to the work. He also went out of his way to point out some other areas around the front stoop where water might be leaking in and suggested some ideas for fixing them.

Contracted end of April for work to begin Mid-May depending upon rain factor. But mid May came and went and hadn't heard from Cox. Call was made for status and was told by end of May they hoped to be there as they had experienced several deaths in the immediate family. Cox's son and helper actually started work on June 9 and finished on June 16. Have no complaint about the actual tuckpointing as everything we had discussed was taken care of. However, we felt they could've done a better job with their cleanup. They did not lay any tarps down and all the mortar fell on sidewalks and was ground into the areas. They broke some decorative yard pieces and failed to say anything about them. As they were quite visible, a courteous acknowledgment and "sorry", would have been appreciated and not leave a feeling like they were hiding something.James Cox did come out once at the end of the project to check on the status of the work.

Originally called & spoke with James. He was very polite & very business-like. I called mid-week & he said he'd be out that Saturday for an estimate. He arrived (as discussed) & did an inspection. Said he had a $200 minimum, & that the work on our porch was so small, he asked if there was any other work to be done. I wasn't sure, so he did an inspection around the front of the house & found some other places that could be touched-up. He told me he'd send his son the following Sat. to do the work, & that I should take a look around the back of the house for more work & he'd include that as well. When the son arrived (as scheduled) the following Sat., he had the info his father left for him about what needed to be done, plus his offer to do the rest of the house. He fixed everything I found, plus some he found himself. Both father & son were very nice, and we are very pleased with the work. Not many companies would have offered to do the extra work for the same price!

We signed the contract in mid-December 2006 and the work was performed during the last part of the month. The contracting company is a small family business. They worked very hard and made intelligent decisions about ways to handle the different areas (e.g., the different mortar colors used in the brick and stone portions). The workers, who were Mr. Cox's sons, were careful to get my feedback before I paid the balance due at the end of the job. The results were excellent. This company takes pride in its work, and the results show. Mr. Cox is a man of few words, his company gave me quiet, competent and honest service.

TERRIFIC. THE WORK IS BEAUTIFUL AND WELL-DONE, AND MR. COX AND HIS SON ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. JAMES IS NO-NONSENSE AND TO THE POINT. I FELT COMFORTABLE DEALING WITH HIM AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES. THEY PUT A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY INTO THIS JOB AND IT SHOWS. I'VE GOTTEN MANY COMPLIMENTS ON THE WORK DONE.
