Mel is an independent contractor who specializes in painting and minor plaster repair. She has much experience repairing and painting older homes, especially for sale. She usually works alone but sometimes has an assistant working with her. Mel came out, examined my house and talked over what was needed. She sent me an estimate the following wk-end. We ended up deciding to proceed with the job on hourly basis, as I was leary of the big committment, and could decide to stop when/if I felt I had reached my financial limit. However we ended up doing more than originally planned just because we loved her work and learned we could totally trust it and her. My husband works nights and has to sleep days 3 days of the work wk, and Mel planned her work carefully to minimize noise and odor on those days. She is meticulous to details and has excellent color sense and suggestions. She understands preparing for sale versus living but her preference is always to do the job so it will be done right and not just a cover up, which is our preference also. My old house had cracks in the ceiling plaster in every room but she patched and sanded each one, and some walls, too. They all look great now. Her paint looks perfect. She also is meticulous about record keeping, giving you a weekly list on what was done, and filling you in verbally at the end of the day. She carefully keeps track of her working hours, taking herself off the clock for lunch, etc. Mel asked for a corner or two to keep supplies in as the job was so long, but she carefully picked up each night, and minimized the plaster dust (as much as possible.) Mel is a true professional. We have no qualms about recommending her work. Do call her if you desire quality work.
Description of Work: Mel and her assistant, repaired plaster and painted nearly the entire interior of my older home, and also my front porch, preparing it for sale. This included 3 bedrooms, 2 hallways, a stairway (excluding steps), one bath, part of the living room, a large porch including ceiling, floor, rails and trim, front and back doors, and approx 30 ft section of exterior basement wall. Plaster in every area needed some work, and in a few areas it was down to lath. Most notable was our bathroom where we replaced the old (80's Brass) recessed medicine cabinet with a new one that was significantly smaller resulting in as much as 6 inches of plaster that needed to be replaced around it.
