DAN THE BUG MAN

Dan is a very polite and cordial person who seems to have an encylocpedic knowledge of the business of pest elimination, however the promises he made as part of the annual program were seldom kept. For instance I have had to call him several times to remind him of the quarterly inspections visits. He'd show up and do the inspection but it was never done on his own or without reminders. Several of the bait stations had to be moved as we re did some landscsaping work around the house. He promised to send his assistant to re-intall them. Haven't heard a word from him. I pointed out this on his last visit and he was apologetic and promised to do better. Needless to say, he has not come by for the last of the quarterly inpections due in October nor sent anyone to put the traps back in the ground. On top of the unresponsive service, the traps thmeselves did not lure any termites all year long.This when there was clear evidence of termite activity in and around the house. His performance on the pest elimination front was not any better either. We called him to control an ant problem in the kitchen and a persistent spider presence in the basement. He did the usual spray thing but that was not effective. The spiders and ants woul stay away for a few days and always return. Finally another pest inspector highlighted the need to seal basement air leaks (at the sill plate) as vital to controlling spider webs. On this inspectors advice, we sealed the air leaks in the areas that had big spider web buildups and so far (2 months) we had have no new spider webs in those areas. Seemed like a big one to miss for a self-professed pest expert. Overall, I'd do things differently if I had to do this all over again and definitely not hire Dan.

WE'VE HAD DAN THE BUG MAN OUT TO OUR HOME TWICE. THE FIRST TIME HE CAME, IT WAS RAINING, SO HE SPOKE WITH US ABOUT WHAT WE NEEDED DONE, BUT SUGGESTED THAT SINCE IT WAS ALL OUTSIDE WORK, HE WOULD COME BACK WHEN THEN RAIN WOULDN'T WASH THE INSECTICIDES AWAY. HE CAME BACK A FEW DAYS LATER, AS PROMISED, ON A DRY DAY, TO PERFORM THE WORK. HE WAS 15 MINUTES EARLY AND WAS VERY THOROUGH. HE IS FRIENDLY, POLITE, AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE STAYED AND CHEERFULLY ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS ABOUT VARIOUS BUGS I'VE FOUND IN OUR YARD. IF I NEED PEST CONTROL IN THE FUTURE, I WILL DEFINITELY CALL DAN THE BUG MAN. BY THE WAY, HIS APPOINTMENT-SETTER IS ALSO POLITE AND PROMPT TO RETURN PHONE CALLS.
