THADDIA S.
Oct 2011
1.0
$60,000
The original estimate for all the work was $48,610.  This included all work and supplies with the exception of the actual tiles and carpeting.  The rest was included in that price.  This contractor stated that the work would take 6-8 weeks at the most.  The work was started at the beginning of January and was not complete until May 27, 2011, almost 5 months later.  At first the owner/contractor, John Conrath, was responsive, punctual and worked quickly.  He had a few individuals quit or decide not to work with him any longer.  He did not replace them which resulted in the beginning of his slow down.  He began not showing up when he said he would.  He began provided many excuses when asked why he didn't do as promised.  The work began deteriorating quickly.
He became way too involved personally with one individual in our household which had effected his work and responsiveness to our inquiries.  When asked not to be discussing personal issues with this individual, he continued.  He stated that he doesn't get personally involved he did and he continued to do so.
We asked for our laundry chute to be moved before we ever hired him and he discussed how it could be done.  We agreed, discussed multiple times where to move the chute.  He covered the old chute and never built the new one.  He did not charge us for moving the chute, but now we do not have one at all!
He was to leave the paint he used on the walls for us.  We still do not have it, more than 4 months later.
In addition, he has not provided us with a full lien waiver, even though he received his money, in full, on 5/27/11.  He provided a partial one to us and provided another to the individual he became personally involved with in the house, even though they do not hold any title to the property and do not live on the property any longer.  When questioned about it, he says "sue me".
This is a highly unprofessional individual.  His work is good, but he does not have any concept of time, urgency, professionalism, honesty or ethics.  We would never recommend this individual or his company to anyone we know for any reason.  It has been a nightmare!!!!!
