Chris, the Electrician did an excellent job in finding the problem, correcting it,and providing me with a full explanation.

In January of 2015 I paid a final payment to Collins Electric to repair storm damage to my electric house service. I am a widow and trusted the words of the crew from Collins Electric. The repair was completed. The line was “buried” in the ground. Formerly it had come into my house from a pole from a suspended line. When I returned home form work as an RN, I found that the crew from Collins had buried the electrical wire in my storm drain that my gutters all drain into. Additionally they had occluded the drain pipes with dirt thus causing my gutters to overflow instead of draining. I called and informed Collins this was unacceptable. They assured me they would correct this error. I returned home to see that indeed it appeared changed. However that is NOT the case. They had just moved it to appear to have been changed. I had to dig up this storm drain recently and found they had made it look like they had moved it when in fact they only packed MORE dirt in the main gutter drain pipe. As a result water now has penetrated my walls causing further damage. DO NOT USE THIS DISHONEST COMPANY. THEY WILL ONLY SET YOU BACK MORE MONEY. I paid them the full estimate but got shoddy workmanship!!!!

e Be sure to read ALL of the fine print on the estimate.
There is (in very small print) a statement that it is the general contractor or homeowner to remove all construction debris. There was also no line item for an electrical permit!
I called and questioned the permit and received a revision to the bid with a substantial increase in price for adding one outside light and requiring a permit. After I signed the proposal and sent them the required 50% down to begin work, I received another revision and a telephone call from their office. This revision had in larger print the statement that they do not remove construction debris.
The electricians, not only did not remove their own debris, but just left everything on the floor! I have lath and plaster walls. They had to knock holes in the wall to run wire. I expected that. At the end of each day, they just left all of the plaster, wood and wire endings on the floor! I gave them a trash can. They did not use it! Every thing on the floor. When they stripped a length of wire, and sheathing went on the floor not in the trash can. The two electricians that did my job are the most trifling workers that I have ever seen. There is some lumber that had to be removed from a crawl space for them to gain access to run wire. They just left it where the put it, rather then putting it back where thay got it.
The work did pass building inspection. It is up to current code.
I took the owner of the company through my home to show him an example of how his workers left a job sight. He said that his contract stated that they do not remove construction debris. His men are accustomed to working on jobs with a general contractor, who takes care of cleaning up.
Bottom line, if you are a home owner, and want a nice neat job, find another contractor. Do not use these people. They should confine their operations to working with commercial contractors, new construction or the like, not in someones home!

The initial work was done in 2008. Unfortunately I did not live in the house but had tenants. Since then I have continued to find loose wires and non-working outlets that tenants did not mention. Although after the first call they returned to correct the work - now my calls go unanswered. The fellow who did the work in my house no longer works there and I believe was fired for poor workmanship.
One of the installations was not up to code. Pat came out and did the estimate but no one ever came back to see if the worker he sent out had completed the work. Only through a building inspection as I go to sell the house have two inspectors pointed out three issues that no qualified electrician would ever have left done/left undone.
BE CAREFUL.
Very very disappointing.

They attic fan had been left on and the switch had burnt out. He came out to turn off the fan and rewire the switch. He was quick, efficient and even more important, he was cost efficient. I was very impressed. He is now on our list to call for any electrical problems in the future.

I began my search on google and angieslist and went with Collins because their price was very competitive and I got a good impression from their staff over the phone and in person. They were responsive with the bid and in replacing wire in my backyard, running from my garage to house and down into my basement. They did great work and cleaned up afterwards.

Everything went really smoothly, from obtaining a bid ,to starting the work ,and then completing the job. Patrick Collins came out and gave me a bid, which happened to be the lowest of the 3 bids I obtained. He explained what he would do and even suggested up grading the existing wiring to the electrical box. The upgrade wasn't necessary but would bring the electrical panel up to todays code standards which I agreed would be best. The 2 fellow that came to install the wiring and outlets were very professional and even though I don't know very much about electrical wiring, everything visually looked really well done. Once the drywall was installed another fellow came to install the track lights, switch plates and additional light fixtures. The lights were centered properly, the swith plates were all straight and most importantly everything worked. Also, Christina Collins who I spoke with several time over the phone to schedule the work ,was always incredibly nice and always sent everything via e-mail to confirm what we had gone over. What a nice family to work with, I would highly recommend Collins Electric and will call them again if I ever need any additional electrical work.

Went great. Pat Collins gave the initial estimate, and he was helpful and willing to brainstorm on another electrical problem we have (wanted a 2nd switch to an existing ceiling fan/light - we have not had that work done yet). Their worker arrived on time, did the work as requested, and cleaned up reasonably well. He damaged the plaster a little around the outlets, but I understand that's to be expected, and could have been much worse with real, old plaster - it was minor damage we patched easily later. Some time after the work was done, I had questions about GFI's in the kitchen and both Pat and Tammy were incredibly helpful in talking me through the question.

I have used this company before and they did just as good of a job this time as they did the last time. They know what they are doing and they make sure they do it by the book. They dealt with the city to make sure it was in regulation.

We were the middle of three bids for a large renovation project. Overall it went very well. This was a gut rehab and large addition (new second story) project. The original project called for replacement of select wiring for the rehab stage but during demolition it was discovered that all the wiring in the house was bad due to rodent activity. Collins supplied a separate bid to do the additional work at a fair price. The workers showed up on time, were friendly, explained the processes well, and asked questions/got confirmation before doing the work. Pat Collins (the owner) was available via phone at all times. My only complaint is that the workers could have done a better job cleaning up on a daily basis (I like to keep my work sites relatively clean).
