They dumped the pool water to my neighbor's yard without confirming with us & the neighbor. We were at work, my neighbor asked them to not empty the pool to the yard. They were very rude to my neighbor and picked up a fight. Then, when I told the owner it's not acceptable, he wouldn't stop defending himself. We apologized from our neighbor and was very sorry. NEVER AGAIN.

I called Chaney pools to set up an appointment for him to come out and take a look at my pool. I was having problems with the salt system. Mr Chaney explained that I was out of his service area and would not come out. He then took the time to trouble shoot my problem over the phone, fixed my problem and did not charge me. The whole process took 15 minutes and I cannot thank Mr. Chaney enough. This is why he has an "A" rating and all the positive reviews on Angie's List. I would recommend him highly.

We bought a house with a pool, without knowing much about the pool, & pools in general. We contacted Troy to drain the pool, clean it and cover it. Troy came out looked at it, told us our equipment was good, measured the pool for a new cover, and recommended we treat the pool for the winter, instead of draining it. After the cover came in, they removed the old cover, cleaned the pool of all the debris that had collected in the 2 summers the pool sat closed, treated it and installed the new safety cover. Troy was very helpful and charged a fair price for the work he did. I had other pool companies giving me quotes double the price of what Troy charged. Troy also saved us money by recommending not draining the pool now, doing that instead in the spring. We will definitely be calling him in the spring! Would recommend to others.

Troy Chaney Pools came recommended by friends when we first moved to our home 2 years ago, we have never had a pool before and wanted to be sure we took all the appropriate steps. We used him last year to open and close our pool, as well as for some pool pump repairs. He seemed to do a good job at that, but he was certainly not the most friendly individual I have encountered. However, I forgive people their personality flaws as long as they do their job with a modicum of respect for the customer.
I called this morning to arrange to have our pool opened and after saying hello and introducing myself, Troy Chaney raised his voice and yelled at me saying that we were "not even close to being a priority" for him given that we were not regular customers (to be honest, I am not sure how regular a pool customer can be - this is only our 2nd season having a pool and we were calling him back again to maintain our pool). In fact he was so rude on the phone, it nearly brought me to tears which is no small feat - as a physician and mother of 3 small children, I am generally quite resilient.
He essentially hung up on me after telling me to "get someone else to open your pool".
This situation was so upsetting to me that I opened up an Angies list account merely to place this review on here so that someone else will not have to deal with this sort of situation. In all of my years of interacting with many people from many walks of life in many different situations, I have never had an experience as negative as this. Regardless of whether or not you view a customer as important or a priority, it is probably something best left unsaid.
I am happy to report that I called Pool Tron pools and though I have never been a customer of theirs, they were wonderfully responsive and will be by on Friday to open our pool in time for Mother's Day.

"There are 2 sides to every story. The facts are that [member name removed] sent me an email request on Sat, May 4 at 10:30pm to open his pool on May 16th. On Sun, May 5th, I sent him a copy of the response form and ask him to fill it out and return it and $150 deposit to hold his date. On May 6th, [member name removed] calls and says she is very upset that her pool is not open. I informed her that her husband had just sent in a request less than 48 hour prior. I explained our company policy that all my customers send in forms and deposits and her husband had only sent in a request and it was only 48 again and the date he requested was not until May 16th. She gave me excuses that her husband was very busy and we need to open the pool asap. I informed her that was not possible because I had to honor my contracts with my other customers. I also stated that weekly service customers receive priority. They are only open and close and don't even follow the basic rules of filling out a form and returning with a deposit. Pool Tron is a larger company than mine and will open the pool on Fri for probably twice as much as I would charge. If you are looking for a fair price and someone to be a man of their word, I would like to work for you. If you want someone to open your pool the day you call them, I am not the right company for you. I am happy to forward the copy of the email he sent me at 10:22pm May 4. I also sent him my opening flyer on Jan 15th and a follow up request for pool opening on April 14th stating that we were getting very busy and they need to choice a date. What more can a small businessman with an A+ rating and Super Service Award winner do."

Have used Troy at 3 different homes - 3 different pools.
Very reliable, high quality, professional - always works in the customer's best interest.
In past years, have used a number of service providers who were often unreliable and with whom we were less confident in their ability or motivation. Troy (and Chris) are a pleasant and valued exception.

Troy is awesome. You can tell he loves what he does.
My pool is a bit of a nightmare due to neglect from the previous owners. He has been working his butt off trying to get it up and running. He is constantly available, always responds to emails, texts and phone calls, and even comes out on Sundays to get his work done.
He is a perfect example of the type of man you want working on your house.
Completely trustworthy as he admitted to me when something was his fault (he got some leaves in the main drain) when he easily could have just charged me.
I have yet to receive my first bill (and truthfully I am a little nervous) but frankly he is worth it.

Chaney Pools did a great job. They were the one company that was willing to work with me for a tile falling off. I worked with them for a couple of years and then finally I did go to them as a general contractor to sand blast and re-plaster the pool. They helped close the pool and I will use them to re-open it again. They were responsive and flexible. I have an old pool that was built around 1962 and most of the companies wanted to overhaul it and Chaney works with what the homeowner wants. They did a pretty good job.

Originally called with general questions about caring for the pool at our new house (older pool, lots of little problems - plus we never owned a pool before). Very helpful over the phone. Very soon afterwards, the pump motor for our filter seized and stopped running; we thought this was about to happen, which was one reason for our original call. Came the next day, on time, and replaced the motor in less than an hour. Price was much less than an estimate we got from another company.

Their service was okay. They were okay and I wouldn?t go far beyond that. I don?t think they were all that great. They were average. I would probably not recommend them to a family member. I wouldn?t use them again in the future because I found somebody better.

"I started working for member in 2009. We closed his pool. It was a green swamp at that time. I recommended correcting the water chemistry and clarity. He stated he was selling his house and very concerned about cost only wanted the minimium service package. He said it would be fine with a little chlorine. Guess what it was a green swamp when we opened in 2010. It took a lot of time and effort to get corrected. His pool needed more attention during the spring of 2010 but he did not want the service. He wanted pool looking beautiful during the spring for the sale. Once we were through the pollen dropping and spring storms and he finally replaced the filter elements, the pool cleared up and was much easier to maintain. And I speculate he took care of it himself or finally sold the house. I am also upset because I actually made extra visits to his home in the spring and did not charge him for those visits. I am very proud of my service and we do outstanding work as you can see from the other customers. Troy Chaney"

They are great. They are the only people I trust. I don't remember their prices being terribly high. I can call them in an emergency and they will come right over. They are honest and reliable.

Troy was fantastic. He arrived 1/2 hour after my call, he was professional, fixed the problem with an economical solution. After checking out our entire set-up he made suggestions that were explained easily that made common sense. There was a problem with the programming of the controls, once again one phone call, and it was finished. This was the best most professional, knowledgable pool repair I have ever had in the 11 years of owning this property with a pool. THANK YOU- Chaney Pools!

Troy returned my call quickly. He got back to me with an estimate and options for what needed to be done in 48hrs. He told me that I didnt need to do some of the work which others had recommended for at least 5-6 years. He gave me several options for covers and didnt try to push the most expensive. That was my choice because its safer and almost permanent. He advised me on how I could save money, like one color was $100 less than the one I first chose. The work was completed quickly and looks good. Im going to use them next year for all my pool services.

Troy did an excellent job. He was on time and took his time doing the work and talking to us so we were well informed on the condition of the pool. He is extremely knowledgeable and talked to us about every aspect of the pool. He made sure we understood what he was talking about and had quality references for the work that needed to be done.
