The quality of the work was first rate and the personnel were knowledgeable and friendly and timely.
I was very happy with the quality of service and the personal care that everyone from Champion took in getting the job done.
I will absolutely hire them again when I have a flooring project.
I was impressed with how hard he worked to make things right while still honoring the quoted price. I would definitely recommend him to others.
I started with my laundry room because I was having some cabinet work done and the cabinets were almost finished. Kelly was an absolute joy to work with. He was very polite and just a great person. I was very happy to have him in my home. Kelly is an artist in laying tile. I have an in-floor drain in my laundry room. When Kelly got to that point, the drain had to be extended because it wasn't quite long enough. Kelly took care of that for me and, with absolute precision, cut the tile to fit around the drain. Awesome job! It is absolutely perfect from wall to wall and around the drain. Kelly's work is as good as it gets.
Champion then began demolition of the foyer floor and removal of carpet. I was really dreading the demolition mainly because I didn't know what to expect and because I feared that it would be really messy. Said and Phil were very nice and very professional. They answered all my questions and told me what to expect as they progressed. The demolition was not bad at all. There was very little dust and they were very good about cleaning up the debris. When they were finished with the tear-out and demolition, everything was picked up and cleaned up.
They then began the installation of the new hardwood in the foyer, den, and main hallway. There were some trouble spots in the foyer as the floor was not level. Phil and Said took care of that easily. Because I had hardwood in my kitchen, hearth room, half bath, and mini hall, the new hardwood "butted" up against the old hardwood as the main hallway came off the kitchen. They meticulously laid the new hardwood so that the wood would match. Now you cannot tell where the old hardwood ends and the new hardwood begins.
After the new hardwood was laid, they began the sanding process. When Phil and Said got to where my refrigerator would sit, they encountered a problem. My new refrigerator had been leaking. As it turned out my old refrigerator had also been Ieaking. I was overwhelmed. During the renovation of my kitchen, my contractor had "pushed out" the wall behind my refrigerator because the new refrigerator was larger than the old one. The size of my refrigerator area is about 42 inches deep and 38 inches wide. Champion had laid new hardwood in this new area last week. After talking with Phil and Said, they began tearing out the hardwood they had just laid last week as well as several boards on the kitchen main floor and some boards in my pantry, which is right beside my refrigerator area. It was unbelievable. They tore out hardwood and the sub floor. I could see the 2 by 4's and insulation. My contractor had already told me that he was going to replace the copper water line on my new refrigerator but had not done this yet. Phil and Said went above and beyond. The water line was on the side of the wall. Phil felt it would be much better if the water line came in from the back because there would be less likelihood that the line would get pinched or otherwise damaged. Also, what better time to do this than now - when everything was tore out and you could see what was there. I told them what my contractor had said. Phil told me if I would go get the new line he would put it in. I ran and got what I needed. Phil put the new line on, drilled holes through the 2 by 4's, and ran the line through the holes and up the back wall. I was speechless. What an awesome job!! They went above and beyond and did a fantastic job. I couldn't believe they did this for me. They then laid a new sub floor and new hardwood. There were some bad spots on my old hardwood that I was concerned about. I was afraid that they would not be able to sand the spots out. I had pointed these areas out to Ralph when he came to give the estimate and I pointed them out to Phil and Said. All three gentlemen did not seem too concerned. They were right!! The spots sanded out and now you cannot tell there was ever a problem.
I liked the color of my old hardwood and wanted it matched as closely as possible. Phil and Said mixed stain and stained small areas of the floor so I could see the finished product. Even when I thought the stain looked good, Phil felt that it still needed some additional red. He mixed a couple more times and he was right. The final stain color combination is perfect! Then, the refinishing process began. I had been told that we needed to be off the floors for a period of time to allow sufficient drying time. So, my husband and I left during this process. I was anxious to get home to see the finished product. I was speechless when we walked in!! The floors were beautiful!! I walked around and around. Amazing - that's all I could say.
Because I was having some other work done in my home, and even though I pleaded with my contractor to be careful, there were still some boo-boos that happened. And there were a couple of small blemishes in the new finish of the hardwood. I called Champion and Said came back out. He attempted to fix a couple of the blemishes. I showed Said my concerns from the contractor boo-boos and he explained my options. I decided to wait until the contractor was finished then I would ask Champion to come back to buff and apply a second coat of sealer. My contractor finished and I called Champion again. Said came out again. I pointed out the problem areas and he began. He buffed and applied a second coat of sealer. The hardwood is spectacular!! It is flawless and in perfect condition!
I still can't believe the extra work that Phil and Said did because of my leaking refrigerator. What great work and exceptional customer service! I highly recommend Champion Floor Company. It has been an absolute joy working with everyone. I liked Ralph from the moment I met him. I met and talked with Kim and Susan in the office and they were very polite and courteous. Everyone answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable. Professionalism was at the forefront of everything that everyone did. I have nothing but the highest praise for Champion Floor Company and recommend them without reservation to do any flooring work. We plan to do some upgrades to our lower level next year and Champion will absolutely be doing the flooring work wi
"Member, we were so glad that you enjoyed not only the finished product, but also the process. We do our best to make our customers happy and nothing pleases us more than to see the type of experience you had! Thank you for your business and for sharing your kind words."
"Member, first and foremost, thank you for your business. We also appreciate you taking time to rate us on Angie’s List. Your high marks are what we strive for everyday, and we were glad to see we met all your expectations!"
Overall, the experience was trouble-free and I am satisfied with the outcome.
Everything went very smoothly and on schedule. Tear-out went smoothly; the guys were very careful to drape and cover areas to reduce accumulated dust, even thought we thought it might be overkill (it wasn't!). The young man who did the installation was great; obviously he took pride in his work and had years of experience. And the guy who did the staining and finishing is, well, an artist at what he does. Everyone was on time, friendly, and very accommodating to our schedules.
We did have occasion to ask for one minor finishing area to be resolved before the job was declared "done." We were dreading making the call -- we shouldn't have. The return to make the fix happened very quickly, and everyone was very kind and understanding of our request. Definitely a win-win situation.
I have no qualms in giving Champion Floor my highest recommendation. I now see why I heard so many positive word-of-mouth referrals for them.
