Carl was such a pleasure to work with! He is extremely professional and polite, explains what he is doing, is on time, and gives probably the best price in town! The work looked great! They even had to deal with a window arch that almost fell down (very old house!) and they made it through. And they cleaned everything up perfectly, even powerwashing our front steps, which we didn't pay them to do! When I forgot to leave a check on the last day, Carl graciously met me back at the house later in the day. Would definitely hire him again! Fantastic!!!

The bid was lower than the other two bids I received.  I saw the company advertised in the Angie's List book.

Carl was prompt with his estimate and began work on time.  Unfortunately, his son did most of the work, and apparently had no experience. Several bricks were damaged when he removed the mortar.  The "replacement" bricks didn't look like they fit the rest of the brickwork.  A few years later....the work they performed didn't last at all!  The mortar is cracked and looks worse than it did before they did the work.  It was a complete waste of money!

He is excellent. His price is fair. He always answers my questions. I have used him before. He is an all around good guy.

The price was less than half of what someone else asked for. So, his price was really terrific.

Carl did an excellent job.  His price was close to a 1/3 of other
companies and his work was very professional.  The cost of the  work did
not exceed the bid and was completed on time.  I would recommend him to
others.

This was bad timing.  Carl totaled his truck the day he was to look at the porch and missed that appointment and one rescheduled for the next day, but they called and kept me up to date and were very apologetic.  He came a few days later prepared to do the job, gave me a good price, and then did the repair quickly, cleanly, and professionally.  It was a good experience

Wow, wow, WOW, is all I can say. Carl came out and gave me an estimate I couldn't believe. He walked through the whole job, got up on the roof to check the chimney, and pointed out many more spots than I really wanted to do, but gave me such an incredible estimate that I could actually afford to do it all. The best part was, he was able to start within the week! He called the night before to confirm, which I really appreciated. He worked all day, and did more than we had originally agreed, without adjusting the estimate. I even asked for more work when he was finishing up, and he was willing to do it, again at an unbelievable cost. The work is solid and looks great; I have never wanted to hug a contractor more than after this job! Thanks, Carl! You've earned customers for life!

It was fantastic.  It took nearly twice as long as they expected, but they stuck to the original price which astounded us.  We were very pleased and would certainly recommnend them to to others.

It turned out fine but I would not say it was the best experience. He and his crew could have been more professional. I would suggest that people who want to use them really firm up their time, dates and when the work will be finished. I will not use them in the future.

I found him on Angie’s List and his bid was about one third of their price, but they were fine. In fact he was so low that I was worried, but he turned out to do a wonderful job and was very easy to work with. He was very easy to work with and told me exactly what he was going to do and he did it. He also cleaned up all of the mess. In fact, he gave me some cards and I gave one to a fellow who has multiple properties. 2 of my neighbors, who happen to be on the other side of the walls, comment on how nice the job was. They were very professional and in my estimation, they did an excellent job.

Carl came on the same day I had called to look at the needed work. At that point I already had estimates from 2 other companies. He gave me a written estimate the same day. I signed, but did not have to pay anything upfront. He came back with his son  a week later and the work got done in a very professional manner. I certainly will ask this company again for an estimate in the future if I should need more tuckpointing.

Carl is very straightforward and efficient. He was in the area when I called for an estimate and came by within an hour. When it was time to do the work, the job was basically finished in a day, and he came back another time to finish sealing the seam in our foundation, even thought we had not fully detailed that in the contract. Carl stands by his word and is eager to please his customers.

Although we had no problems working with Carl and he was very responsive, we are still left with an irreversible negative result. The mortar color is great but the tuckpointing itself is not. The two problems were (1) many bricks were chipped or gauged in the process of removing the old mortar and (2) the new mortar was used to fill these chipped spaces and was applied to the surface of the brick face. The bricks are permanently damaged and their appearance is altered. Carl did what he could to fix (he returned on 2 occasions) the problems but there wasn't much he could do without causing further damage. If you hire him, I would recommend you verify with him that he is using his good crew and that he is using the correct tuckpointing methods on your house.

We are very happy with his service. He was communicative, honest, and straightforward. He completes projects in the order in which they come in, so you may have to wait a bit, but luckily tuckpointing us not usually an emergency. We would/will definitely use him again.

I contacted Carl after reading several positive reviews on Angie's List. He came shortly thereafter to look at the proposed work, and gave me a very reasonable estimate during that visit. I called him the following day and told him I wanted him to do the job. We agreed on a time frame (April 4 and 5), and he and his crew arrived promptly, as scheduled. They were not only punctual, but also professional, polite, and very hard-working. They left the area clean and neat.

Carl provided an estimate within two days of my call, and began the job within a week of my acceptance of the bid. He and his crew ground out the old mortar and re-grouted the entire front of the house in one day. They cleaned up the dust on my porch and the porches of my neighbors. Carl's crew was back to wash down the front of the house after the mortar had cured a few days. They again thoroughly cleaned up everything at both my property and my neighbors. I originally requested estimates from five different tuckpointing companies. Carl Milbourn responded the quickest, had the lowest bid, and did a beautiful job on the house. I highly recommend his team.

We simply do not have enough good things to say about Carl. He answered his phone promptly each time I called, came out promptly to give an estimate, and did the work promptly and professionally. His price seemed very reasonable for the work done, and he did not raise the price even when we discovered that one of the basement cracks extended farther under some stairs than we first thought. He explained everything they were planning to do clearly and thoroughly. The work his crew did in filling in the basement window with bricks was superb--it looks neat and clean and very professional. The caulking is also excellent. We have had rain since they came, and our basement is dry for the first time in years! Carl's crew actually left our basement cleaner than it was when they got here! One last thing: We originally had called Carl for another job (replacing a chimney liner sleeve.) He said he didn't do that kind of work, but we had this other work to do as well, so we hired him for that. While he was here, we mentioned the bid of almost $2000 we had received on the chimney work. We didn't mention any company names or anything -- we just wanted to bounce the number off someone because we thought it sounded high. He suggested we get a couple more bids. Boy am I glad we did! We ended up getting the work done for $700. Thank you Carl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have enough good things to say about Carl. I obtained three bids on my 1100 sq. ft. whole house tuckpoint. Carl was $3000 less than the second bid and a full $10,000 less than the third. (you read that right: ten thousand!) I was at the point where I thought I couldn't afford to have the work done, and Carl came through with flying colors. He is a third generation tuckpointer (and seems to be bringing his son into the business) and he and his entire crew were completely knowledgeable about what type of mortar my 1933 house had (portland cement) and what to use to replace it. I had a spot that someone had used the wrong product on and had some brick spalling as a result. He fixed all that and my house looks brand new. He returned my call within an hour of my initial contact and work began three days later. The work took 4 days, and his crew cleaned up behind themselves every day. His original bid did not include a spot point of a retaining wall, but he went ahead and did it for free. He ended up doing a full grind out of a portion of my foundation for free also. Carl is polite, professional and walked me through every step of the process. He and his crew are just all around good guys. Don't bother looking any further, Milbourn Tuckpointing is your best bet. If I could give a grade higher than an A, believe me, I would.

Right from the start it was obvious that my experience with Carl was going to go smoothly. Firstly, he always answered the phone!!!! I knew it would not be difficult to get a hold of him. Secondly, he promptly provided an estimate and put it in writing. No guess work here, we were both protected and understood the terms and conditions. Finally, he blew away the competition on pricing by more than $3000. That's not a typo, it was $3000. The estimate he beat was one of the contractors with the most reports on this site, so do your homework!!!! I almost wrongly assumed that because they had a lot of ratings they must be a good price. He had plenty of references and is a member of one of the Historical Societies to protect old buildings, so this indicated his committment to this line of work. All the ingredients for a successful endeavor were there on the frontend, so did he execute and follow through? Again a stellar performance. He provided services above and beyond his initial estimate. I had water issues around my chimney, so he waterproofed it FREE OF CHARGE!!!! That's about a $200 value. He finished on time and left the place cleaner than he found it. I had a lot of masonry dust inside the garage before the work and he hosed it all out. I don't often write reviews, but my experience was so good that I hope Carl gets a lot of leads from this review. His only negative is he does not advertise enough. I hope that everyone realizes when you call him that tuckpointing can be done well and at a reasonable price, if you find the right person. I would gladly provide a reference.

He wouldn't take any money until he was sure the hole that had water by my foundation was fixed. He told me there would be no charge until he fixed it. He was really something! Other bids on this project were 10 to 20 TIMES what he charged me. They were all quality services, however Milbourn was able to fix this for just $800.

They came and gave me my bid. They came two days later and started tuckpointing my house. They took out old mortar and replaced it. It was so pretty, no smudges, or smears, I don't know how they did it. I have had my house tuckpointed before and it was just plain messy. I have heard so many people say the same thing about how messy it always looks and how it takes awhile for the smudges to wear off. But somehow these guys did it with no mess, anywhere. My flowers were even happy when they left; not one was broken. The construction area was cleaned every night. I couldn't believe how tidy they were.
