"[member name removed], Thank you for your reasonable settlement request, your business, and your favorable review."
"[removed members name] complaints are numerous, so we address them individually: 1) Customer: “Items were not wrapped and some were damaged in the move.” Company: We voluntarily compensate customers for damage reported. The customer reported no damage. We sent a follow-up email to the customer. [removed members name] made no reference to damage in his response. The first time that we heard of any damages was when we saw this complaint. We have offered settlement to the customer after reading this review, but the customer has not replied. 2) Customer: “The company charges for boxes but they are using odds and end boxes they have picked up somewhere.” Company: The total charge for materials was $95.50. Of that, $32.00 was for used boxes. 3) Customer: “When they left, they tried to charge me for an extra hour of time. They left and then came back and asked for the extra hour again and I said no. They left for a "quick drink" and were gone nearly 45 minutes.” Company: We don’t fully understand the complaint, but the customer seems to be alleging that our movers attempted to collect for time spent on breaks. Our records indicate that the move started at 9:00 a.m. and was completed by 12:15 p.m., and it sounds as though the customer paid for the time spent working. We apologize if our movers attempted to collect for time spent on breaks. 4) Customer: “They accomplished the task but felt service was below par and I paid them for the amount of time they worked.” Company: We regret that the customer feels the service was below par. The two movers routinely work as a team, and satisfy our customers with extremely few exceptions. To reiterate, we have offered to settle with the customer, but have not heard back."
"Thank you for the favorable review."
After the move I called the office and spoke with a very friendly lady. Sorry I do not remember her name. She was aware of the scratch on the dining room chair as well as the marks on the wall. Since the dining room chair was placed in storage they said that when we move again in November to call them and they will repair it. They sent a guy over a few weeks after moving and he repaired all damage to walls. In the end I think that if there had been 4 guys the movers would not have been to tired. I also feel that payment should be explained up front. If I would have been informed of them before the move I would have made arrangements to pay with cash or check. I would give the movers an "A" grade on professionalism, but the owner recieves an "F."
UPDATE
I revieved a call from the Office Manager and the owner this week (9/30) to apologize and clear up any misunderstandings. As I stated in my first review, I realize that there are some things that were my resposibility during the day of the move and I also acknowledge that there were some misunderstandings that occured. I appreciate that I recieved an apology call from the company, however this was my experience with this company and I still stand by my personal opinion. In my personal experience with this company I felt the owner lacked the professionalism needed to earn a high review. Angie's list is here for customers to share the good and the bad of their experience. Unfortunately this time we had a little of both. Also, my husband and I went back and re-rated this company, again using the Angie's List scale.
"This review was triggered by a discussion over a 2% credit charge ($26). The 2% charge was explicitly stated in the material that we sent out. I apologized to her for having waived the 2% fee in a begrudging manner."
"Thank you for the favorable review."
My only complaint is that after the move, I did notice some minor damage to some of our furniture. It was mostly scuff marks from furniture rubbing against furniture in the truck. I am guessing they could have used more blankets to pad the bigger pieces so that would not have happened. I also had all of our boxes marked, and some were delivered to the wrong place. This was kind of irritating bc you pay to have them put them where you marked them to go, instead I ended up having to lug some of the boxes to the correct floor.
All in all, I would classify it as a good move. I realize that no movers are perfect and minor things are probably going to happen to some pieces of furniture during a big move like ours. They were all very professional and nice to work with throughout the entire process.
"We appreciate the favorable review from this customer. In reference to the minor damage, when I made my routine follow-up call to find out how the move went, the customer said it was “Great”. The customer never reported any damage (rubbing) or boxes being placed in the wrong locations. Thank you for the favorable review."
- The movers were friendly, knew each other (as opposed to being random guys off the street who just threw on a company T-shirt), and seemed to enjoy working as a team. They were strong enough to lift everything. Overall, they did a great job with the move.
One caveat: The "replacement value" warranty for damaged items requires you to report the damage on the day of the move.
