The samples showed so much mold, John had his lab process them twice. He couldn't believe how much mold we had. He sent us the report and offered to provide us with a remediation proposal from his other company, American Environmental Consulting. We looked over his proposal and decided to use his company to get rid of the mold.
Mike and Kenny showed up the following week to begin working on the mold problem. When they arrived, I mentioned that we had a manufactured wood floor that we weren't sure if mold was under or not. They checked it out, and sure enough, there was moisture under the floor so they recommended we pull it all out. They covered our electronics with heavy plastic, they bagged up and covered all of our daughter's belongings with heavy plastic, and moved everything else into the storage room. Once everything was out of their way, they began removing drywall and flooring and wiping everything down with biocide. We were all shocked at how much mold was under the wood floor! As much as we hated having the basement flood, it is a good thing it did. There was so much mold under the floor, it would have made us all start to get sick.
Because of the amount of mold and the smell associated with it, this job ended up taking a couple of extra days and a little bit more money. The air scrubbers had to run for 5 days and then John came out and took more air samples. This time the samples came back saying the mold was gone. Once we were given the all clear, Mike and Kenny came back out and collected their equipment.
Mike and Kenny were very kind, respectful, and professional. They came in and got right to work and only took one break a day for lunch. You can tell they have been doing this for a long time and know what they are doing. Mike even commented that he doesn't leave a job until the job is done right. These guys even went the extra mile and emptied a shop vac I hadn't had a chance to empty yet, and put some shower doors that I had taken off so I could empty the shop vac easier back on the track.
I'm hoping that we never have to have these guys back out to do work for us, but if we do, we will definitely have this company do the work.
We had a long conversation with they on a conference call with mu wife.
They arrived on time and explained what was going to be done and the reason for the tests.
The report was very understandable.
The Remediation Plan was used to obtain three proposals for the work.
They tested again after the work was complete and sent us a Clearance Certification.
"WE WERE UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE OWNER (SELLER) TO REMOVE THE MOLD IN THE RESIDENCE BEFORE THE HOUSE WAS SOLD. WE FULFILLED THE REQUIREMENTS OF OUR OBLIGATION WITH THE SELLER. THE MEMBER (BUYER) EXPECTED THE BASEMENT TO BE GUTTED COMPLETELY. WE RETURNED AND GUTTED THE BASEMENT DOWN TO THE STUDS."
