Allen Outdoor performed the sprinkler installation in 2007 and does routine service that includes yearly back flow inspections required by the city of St. Louis as well as annual start up and shut down of the irrigation system. It made sense that AOS having familiarity with installation and hardware to hire them for the service being done in conjunction with a back yard landscaping project designed and installed by a different local company. While the end result was satisfactory, getting to that point was problematic due entirely to poor communication internally at AOS between customer service who scheduled the work first with me and then with the field crew who did the job. I have no complaints about the work actually done, it will suit my purpose, but scheduling and managing the logistics when another contractor is involved proved to be a headache. I did not solicit a second bid and regret not doing so because I dont' have a basis now for comparing the price I paid for what amounted to less than 3 hours of work involving very little excavation, moving a control box about 18" and laying out drip line tubing. I can't honestly say the experience inspired the kind of confidence that would make me go to AOS again

Early on, there were some logistical glitches, but these got straightened out eventually and the property looks great.

After discovering a leak in my sprinkler line, it took longer than it should have for a manager from Allen to call me back and rectify the situation. Once he did, however, he was very apologetic, and personally accompanied the tech to my house to ensure the work was done as promised. My sprinkler system is back up and running.

I used to use them for lawn irrigation but I no longer use them. They came out the year before and told me our backflow preventer had busted, which I knew we'd have to replace. So I called them to have them replace it. I had called them maybe 10 times to try to set up a schedule for them to come out and repair it. When they did come out, they just said, "Yes, you need a new backflow preventer" and they charged me for coming out to tell me that's what I needed, even though they already charged me for doing that in the Fall. At that point, it became too much of a pain to deal with them. So I went with a different company that I'm still with now.

"[removed member name] contacted us on the off-season. We then contacted our licensed master plumber for replacement of his backflow device multiple times, but due to their work load and lack of man power at the time, they couldn't get Mr. White fit in, in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, they were not keeping us informed. This is an isolated incident and the client was contacted multiple times to work out a solution, but we have not received any return phone calls. We had no luck in communicating with the client to come to a satisfactory outcome, after the fact."

The only thing is that I wanted to be there when they came out for the test but they came out when I wasn't home. I haven't had any issues with scheduling. They are very timely.
