Sean Hasse and his team at Agape Retaining Walls did a marvelous job for us on our retaining wall, cleaned up/swept up at the end of each day, and were just a pleasure. Sean always invited me to call him anytime with any questions, stayed true to his estimate, and was as kind as can be about it all.

We were VERY pleased with our experience with Agape. The owner Sean responded to our online free estimate request within an hour and was onsite to provide a quote within a couple of hours (on the 4th of July none the less). The job was stated two days later and finished in less than two days. The wall is beautiful! Great quality and professionalism. Great price. Can’t say enough good things. Highly recommend!

Excellent work! Sean is very knowledgeable and helpful in visualizing a plan for your yard. We have a steep drop off and sloping backyard. Agape built two levels of retaining walls with a paver patio and fire pit between the walls. Several people in our neighborhood have had walls fail. We wanted to be sure these walls would be built correctly. Agape worked very hard to dig out the area, fill with gravel, and place geogrid. Joe and the other Agape people were some of the hardest workers I've ever seen. Agape specializes in retaining walls and they know what they are doing. We are very happy with the entire project! Highly recommend.

I needed to replace a large retaining wall that was originally not constructed well and was failing. Agape was not the low bid but I went with them on recommendations from two personal friends that spoke highly of Agape. I observed their work closely and am very satisfied with their quality of work. Sean was easy to work with - always picked up my calls or immediately returned calls. The foreman was excellent and the team worked hard. I was especially pleased with their attention to details. Things like cutting the caps, positioning of drain pipe and even cleanup. I would highly recommend. I found out the hard way that the low quote isn't really the low cost. I'm confident this wall will last.

Sean was terrific. We met with at least 15 contractors and knew immediately that Sean's company was high quality. He was honest, didn't try to oversell, responsive, and kept in communication throughout the job. The work was excellent and we already plan to use Agape a again for another project.

The experience was good overall. Once we got on their schedule the job went very fast. The quality of their work is AMAZING and the value (compared to other bids we received) was great. My one word of advise would be communication is key -- Agape seems to be very busy and the lack of communication was a little unsettling. They are very good at what they do, and are very good and talking about how good they are, but sometimes not as good at listening. I'm a harsh critic though and in all fairness we could of pushed for more communication ourselves. We made a design change halfway through the project and then realized we should of made the wall longer too (it was hard to visualize until the work began). Because of this we had to get back on their schedule to have the wall extended and completed (another 8 weeks). I think with a little more communication and consultation up front this could of been avoided.
They seem to be a very honest and hard working. They take pride in their work and it shows.

After reading about Agape Retaining Walls on Angie's list, we got a bid for just the kind of wall we wanted. It was to be approximately 10 feet tall in the back and would rise from a very depressed area in the rear of our lot.. The point of this wall was to allow dirt to be filled in and make the yard level with the foundation of our house. As it was, we had little more than large rocks and a severe drop off to a natural waterway that was dry most of the time.
The city denied our permit related to the height of the wall. We had Sean the company president come by to talk about what we could do instead. We were not optimistic. We really wanted our original plan to work and we were having trouble imaging how an alternate design would fit our needs. His second plan was not exactly what we had wanted but it was one that we knew the city would approve. We agreed to proceed.
The crew arrived with heavy equipment and started the earth moving process. During this phase, the plan changed for the better. The wall builders came up with an idea that nearly mirrored our original plan. The moved the wall in about one and a half feet, buried the base in a trench and anchored it with several tons of small white rock. The changes they made accommodated our desire to reclaim a flat level yard and it pleased the city as well.
The wall was built in a professional and very attractive manner. The placed heavy cardboard cylinders in the ground next to the wall because they knew we would be having a fence erected inside the wall when they were finished. The cylinders would be used to anchor posts for the planned fence. The Agape workers weren't just doing the fence company a favor, they were protecting the integrity of their wall by relieving the fence company of the hassle of auguring holes for the fence posts.
We have a very nice wall that meets our needs. The cost for such construction was more that we thought it would be but considering the use of two pieces of earth moving equipment, the sheer volume of the materials required and the expertise needed to construct the wall, I'd have to say that it was well worth the money. The fact that Agape stuck with us to help amend the plan was a major advantage.
Retaining walls are not cheap. If you have ever seen a wall that has failed, then you will realize that having a qualified contractor is the single most important factor in getting this type of job done right. You can forget that junk about getting three bids. The numbers you get are just that, numbers. My advice is to get the right people for the job and price will probably be right.

They built our walls over the winter and were the hardest working guys in less than favorable weather conditions. Would use them again and recommend to anyone.

We had a retaining wall built approximately 4 years ago by a company named GWB. The wall was not properly installed and we had an incredible amount of erosion. It had become a huge eyesore and was also dangerous--the Versa-Lok stones were never glued down! How could we have made such a mistake in hiring this contractor (GWB) to create such a mess? When we could no longer stand this thorn in our side we signed up for Angie's List so that we could do some research before hiring another contractor that sounded good but didn't really know what they were doing...

Agape
had very high ratings on Angie's List and looked promising. We contacted Sean (Agape) and he was quick to come out and give us a bid. We were very impressed with his knowledge and friendly manner. But, we had been fooled before and were very leery! After speaking to several other contractors we kept coming back to a point that Sean (Agape) had made -- Agape does nothing but retaining walls. It is their specialty. In a leap of faith we signed the contract with Agape and waited for our job to be started. It did take awhile for them to get to us and during that time we didn't always know where we were on their list. However, in the end our new retaining wall and stairs were well worth the wait!

In the middle of November they began our project--it was cold, rainy, and some of the worst possible weather for digging in the dirt/mud. But Greg (our job's foreman) along with Justin and Joe did a terrific job! They worked very hard in awful conditions to give us a retaining wall built by the book to last. And they took pride in their work. There is absolutely no comparison between the wall and stairs they built for us and the one that we started out with. We couldn't be more pleased. Too bad we didn't find Agape at the beginning of our search 4 years ago. We would certainly have been ahead financially but I doubt that we would have fully appreciated how nice it was to work with Agape. They are the best!!

They did an excellent job and they came very quick. They had two guys and they worked very hard for two days. I have a design background and they did a really nice job not only in the design but also in listening to what I asked for. I wanted flowers out in the front and they made a special effort to make a big flowerbed and not just put up a wall. They made a double wall that was separated. It was really nice and straight. It was well done. They saved us quite a bit of money. They did a couple of other little things and finished off a retaining wall in the back. They went out of their way to help us. They were proactive in saving us money and they did a real good job. We did not check other prices. It was a difficult wall to do and it wasn't easy. They called beforehand and let us know and they stayed in contact throughout the project. They are a huge company and they have a number of walls on their website. They know how to do business. They were very careful and thoughtful. They were professional. Their name is Christian and they live up to that.

Agape was pleasant, responsive and professional to deal with. They built a beautiful retaining wall for us that we are extremely pleased with. We received a number of estimates. Agape's bid was neither the highest nor the lowest. We chose them because we felt confident about the quality and integrity of their work - and we were not disappointed.
