Description of Work: We rented this duplex on terms that it was pest free and the left over furniture would be removed and it would bebe clean and ready to move into. We paid our rent and deposit and got the keys. Upon arriving with the Uhaul we open to door to find that she had not cleaned or removed anything. So before bringing our things into the house we had to move things out and clean..which in turn we had to keep the Uhaul for an additional day. I was furious. Why did we pay a deposit? We finally got settled in.That night the furnace quit working and apparently the front door jam is faulty because we woke up to police in our house. They came because our front door was wide open in the middle of the night. We called Bill the maintenance man who came with a used thermostat and a couple nails for the front door. The neighbors moved which we were thankful for because they had a lot of domestic disputes which brought the police around a lot. My kids would ask why they were there..ridiculous to have to explain to young kids. We started seeing cockroaches..just a few at first. It got so bad we couldn't set any food or drink down..not even for a minute. They would be in our fridge..you'd look down and they'd be crawling on you sometimes. We told Sharon Catron and she did nothing. She kept saying she'd send Bill out. He never came. We started spraying ourselves because at this point my asthmatic son was having breathing issues because of the bug filth.It just got to the point where everything was infested including our brand new furniture we just bought with tax money. The straw that broke the camel's back was when she completely breached the contract and we went without trash service for 3 weeks! I had had it. I quit paying rent and started saving to move. As we were moving..all we took were some select clothes..because everything was ruined(about $10,000 worth of stuff)a sheriff came and served us papers. She was taking us to court for back rent! To make a long story short..we went to court..presented our cases..what saddens me is that she won. She actually won. So from this day forward I will never never rent again. Renters have no rights.
