Terrible experience. John Turner designed the basement, not taking into consideration many things which affected the design. Then he sends over sub contractors to do the work. The sub contractors do not know who is doing what or when when they show up. Materials were never ordered on time and were often wrong when they were ordered. Work was left incomplete and the basement was a total disaster. Our floors and sink were damaged by the sub contractors and we were responsible for replacing. The project in total took 11 months when we were promised 2 -3. John Turner refused to engage when there was problem and only contacted us when he wanted money. Would not, under any circumstances, recommend Marvelous Basements for your home project. It was a horrific experience.

Mr Turner represented himself as the General contractor that had individuals that worked specifically for him.  I paid $3000 when we signed the contract, $3000 when they started work ( I know, I am an idiot) and the third payment of 3000 was to be when the drywall started.   The plumber and electrician were both licensed, and did fairly good work.  They were not well acquainted with Mr. Turner from my view.  They both had separated businesses of their own.  When the framing started I began to see issues with square and level walls.  Nothing ever seemed to be corrected.  Things really seemed to fall apart from there.  The drywaller was two days late and Mr. Turner was asking for the money.  I refused to pay any more money until the drywall was started, per the contract.  He was having labor issues with the guy, I guess.  So in order to get his money he had a guy that was not a drywall installer hang most of the drywall.  The man was a licensed finish carpenter but didn't know anything about drywall and it shows.  He was angry with Mr. Turner and told me he hadn't been paid,  "I have never done drywall, I am a finish carpenter".  He said " I am just doing this as a favor to Mr. Turner."  Well, that favor ended up being my nightmare.  None of the walls are square, there were huge gaps between the drywall pieces in some places and some of the drywall had crumbled and broken and been stuck up anyway.  By this time Mr. Turner was not managing the jobsite.  He had not been at the job site in over a week despite my concerns.  He told me everything would be fine they can just "mud and tape" to fix it.  The mudder/taper ended up being two Mexican gentlement neither of which spoke English and John never accompanied them to my home.  He had no idea at what stage the project was at any given time.  He would ask me to direct the laborers when I came to him with a concern or complaint.    Mr Turner informed me that he could not be at the job site because of gas prices.  Bottom line, it looks like a do it yourself job badly done.  I paid for the "A" team and got the "C" team.  Every laborer I spoke to that did work in my home had only worked for Mr. Turner for less than a week and I never saw them again.  Toward the end of the project the sub contractors began calling me, including the electrician, threatening to put a lien on my home because they had not been paid despite my paying Mr. Turner $9000.   At one point Mr. Turner and the owner of the business had personal issues which they made me aware of and at one point the owner called me on several occassions begging me to pay her the balance in cash and not include Mr. Turner at all.   There are still parts of drywall that are flaking and unfinished, the bathroom vanity is not level, not installed properly.  The walls are not square or level.  The banister at the stairs they used an outdoor fence post instead of a nice indoor stair post.  I could go on and on.  Don't use this company.  Nothing but nightmare and heartache.

Work was done quickly and efficiently first half. Second half was slow and inaccurate.Bad quality painting.Didn't show up as scheduled.
