Mark Walters Walls

I had received bids from several contractors and the bid Mark provided was in line with what others were bidding. I choose Mark because of the positive reviews and lack of negative reviews and because upon meeting him when he came to do the bid, I felt we could work together. I also liked that Mark did the work himself and did not sub it out. My wife and I are overall pleased with the retaining walls and the attention to detail which Mark applied to the job. We have had several compliments from friends and family on how it all turned out.

Our interaction with Mark and his team can be summed up in one word:  Amazing!  
From the moment that Mark arrived to give us a bid (he arrived exactly on time) to the last minute they packed up their truck on the last day, this was by far the most professional work ever performed at any of our homes.  When we requested a few minor additions to our original proposal, Mark coordinated and implemented our changes without skipping a beat.  Mark and his team arrived every day at the exact time promised.  We were impressed with Mark's vast amount of experience and creativity.  They were an absolute joy to work with and we will hire them for any land or hard-scaping needs, going forward.  Our neighbors are raving about the work we have performed.  
Mark, Jim and John went out of their way to ensure we received exactly what we wanted for our front yard and back yard.  It was clearly obvious to us that this team enjoys what they do because they are so good at it.   The pride Mark takes in his work shows in the final product.  Mark and his team are non-smokers, as well as being clean, respectful, and paying attention to every small detail. This team of men like to have a good time, and we shared a lot of laughs, and made some great memories.

Mark arrived promptly for a bid to fill in a hole where a pond previously existed and complete with patio pavers and then powerwash, sand and compact.  I could tell by listening to Mark that he was very knowledgeable about his trade and immediately guided me in how he would go about completing the project.  Based on my situation, he outlined right away that even if he did not get the job to ensure certain things were not done by other providers.  I could tell in comparison to speaking with two other providers that Mark knew exactly what he was doing.  Mark's bid came in between the other two providers, but based on my interactions with Mark he was the guy.  I called Mark and he got me on the calendar four weeks out.  Arrived promptly the day outlined and worked four straight days (staying till dark a couple days) to complete the patio.  Very pleased with Mark, his punctuality, professionalism and instructional tutorials he provided on what he was doing and why (I was interested in learning and he took the time to explain).  In the end, even though it was not part of the original bid, Mark brought over landscaping rock to complete the outer edge.  I appreciated this additional detail as it will save me time. Mark does not cut corners and takes the time to do it right.  I would hire Mark for my next project without hesitation.

Mark arrived when he said he would for the estimate.  He provided the estimate on the spot.
He showed up on the day he said he would and proceeded with rebuilding the wall.  He was open to discussion and flexible regarding minor changes as the project went on.   We had good communication as the project proceeded.   Total time was about 2 and 1/4 days.  The rebuilt wall looks better than it did before.
Note: my price was mostly labor as he was rebuilding with the existing stones.

Mark was an exceptional person.  Gifted for the beautiful work he does.  Very strong to remove so many railroad ties and
build the most beautiful wall with curves in front of my house.  He was always on time.  Very polite did his job to perfection.
If he had to leave for a while, he left the place neat and clean.  The job was quickly done and I am so pleased with it.  People
stop to tell me how lovely my yard and home looks because of Mark Walters fine work.  I highly recommend him to anyone
who wants a professional job done. 

Came promptly to give us an estimate.  Gave estimate on the spot and set up date for work to be done.  Arrived on the date set up and did the work.  Had one helper.

Mark replaced my old patio last fall but I didn’t have an opportunity to use it until recently.  He also reset existing pavers in my front sidewalk.  I love the new patio.  Mark was great to work with.  He had to solve a number of issues; the existing patio had settled in places, there were some drainage issues and I had an awkward step out of the kitchen door onto the patio.  Mark listened to me and came up with solutions for all the issues.  He also worked well with the other contractor I had to install a fence along the patio.  He had no issues with a new paver I wanted to use.  Mark arrived when he said we would and even did a few extra things such as trimming the bushes in the front of my house and helping me repot a large hibiscus tree.  He also filled in some gaps in my driveway and sidewalk.  I really appreciate the extra things he did for me because it would have taken me some time to do and it seemed that he had them done in no time.  I have received numerous compliments on the new patio.  I would definitely use Mark again if I ever have the need.     

Mark was great to work with.  My job was a small one and one that most other companies I called didn't even want to bother with.  I was trying to get my house ready for sale and needed the steps repaired fairly quickly.  Mark came to look at my problem and gave me a very reasonable estimate.  He knew exactly how to fix my steps which had shifted and pulled away from the landing over the years.  Other landscapers I had called either didn't want to do it or didn't know how to fix them.  Mark was able to fit me into his schedule between some other jobs.  He did excellent work.  The steps look great and he didn't even damage any of the plants around them.  I wasn't even in town when he did the work and he was kind enough to work with me and allow me to pay him by mail.  Mark is very professional, prompt and knowledgeable. He's a great guy and very fun to work with.  I would recommend him to anyone.

Very happy with Mark and the job he did. He came out and gave us a price quote quickly and accurately. He recommended a style and color of paver and a pattern to use. We had to go to his supplier to see examples of the materials but it was worth doing that. We used his recommended style and pattern and only changed to a slightly different color. He worked really hard when he was here and finished the job when he said he would. On the first day he did exactly what was on his original drawing but I realized it wasn't exactly what I wanted. He was very cooperative about making the changes I needed at a reasonable additional cost. We are very satisfied and would use him again and recommend him to others.

Among the best people/crew we've ever used. I cannot recommend this person highly enough. They "padded" each stone into place and caulked each top-level "brick.." the pavers for the side were HUGE and likely 80 lbs apiece. The pavers out front were smaller, but they still did a great job. They also had to cut into asphalt in order to make the paver/stones "flush" with the ground by a front-door sidewalk. Another great thing they did was connected a sump pump pipe (outside) to a gutter-tube outside, extended. They rocked in our landscaping with rock after extended all guttering on the side and front. This was a rather large job, actually.. entire reconstruction of front landscaping stones, and one side of house..  5 walls in total+rock. We didn't opt to have Mark plant anything because we wanted to do that ourselves (despite having him fill all beds with rock).

Mark's price was very reasonable. He was very friendly, punctual and found way to reduce the scope of the project over other bidders. However, he was a bit disorganized. His initial estimate was not well defined. Through implementation, we ran into unexpected road bumps that should have been addressed in the planning stages such as: placement of excavated fill, and working around existing stairs. He certainly put in the effort to get the job done right, and final cost was close to bid. Overall I would still recommend him, especially for tight budgets.

Mark Walters did it all and did it beautifully. The new stone wall fits perfectly. We chose to go with new pavers and the wall and pavers look great. He worked alone and worked every day until the job was done, including a Saturday and half day on a holiday. If he ran into a problem he always had a solution. He answered all my questions courteously and thoroughly. He took care not to damage the lawn and he cleaned up everything. I can highly recommend him.

Mark did a beautiful job; we're very pleased with the design and workmanship. And he's a hoot!

Mark came out quickly after we called him to give us a bid. We discussed the plan. When we weren't sure what color brick we wanted, Mark dropped off two samples and allowed us to choose. Once we had decided Mark built the wall within two weeks. We got exactly what we wanted. Mark was a pleasure to work with.

Came by and followed quickly with an estimate. Upon acceptance we scheduled a date for the work to be done. He appeared and started work that morning without me even being up yet (I slept late). He finished in the two days he promised he would. The retaining wall was buried deep as promised, above ground level the amount desired, very solid and attractive. He explained when and how long I should water the new sod (and why). Overall, my comment on his performance is "Good, Good, GOOD".

Mark offered great suggestions as we were not exactly sure what we wanted. The finished wall looks great and really adds to the overall appearance of the house and the landscaping in the yard. He then took the limestones that were removed from the front yard and built a small garden wall in the back yard, which looks great. He offered suggestions to that, such as an extension of a walking path for the dog. He explains exactly what he is going to do and why, as well as various suggestions to give you more choices. He is friendly, prompt and puts everything back to normal. He also offers tidbits of advise on other yard projects. We have suggested him to others and they have been very pleased as well.

They were very meticulous about cleaning up the area when the job was finished. The job went well. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.

We were very pleased with the quality and price of the work performed. Mark helped me with the fence and gate design also. He builds the best walls I have ever seen.
