KOTTMAN'S TREE SERVICE

It was awful because the workers lost control of a tree and it fell through the back of my home causing over $10,000 worth of damage.

We hired Kottman tree service to remove a tree in our backyard, I was told it would take 2 days to remove. Kottman tree service should up for the first time on 7/29/16 late in the afternoon and only worked 3 hours which included a break for supper, they stated they would be back the following day to continue the work. However, only one crew member returned the next morning to pick up the saws & ropes, no work was done on the tree that day and no future date of them returning was given. This began a over 2 month effort to have the job completed. We called daily asking when he would return and most of the calls went unanswered or multiple excuses where given such as he had a "unexpected funeral", he lost his phone and briefcase with all his bid information in it along with his truck windows busted out. At one point in the job they left the wood chipper in my neighbor's driveway (without her permission) for 2 days because the keys were lost. His lack of communication and his disorganization makes it a very difficulty company to work with. Thankfully the job was completed on 10/3/16 but I would not recommend this company.

The crew arrived on the appropriate day, and within approx. 20 minutes I hear this HUGE crash as the whole tree was dropped in one piece across my front yard, and thru a second smaller tree in the front yard, and across my driveway (breaking apart two sections), and damaging my neighbors yard and taking out my neighbors mailbox. When I went out to survey the damage, the crew offered to "trim up" the damaged second tree which had been torn in half. When I complained to the owner as to why the tree wasn't taken down piecemeal, his only response was, "Well, I trust my crew's judgement" (!). It took months to get all the repairs done. Since it was winter, the nursery didn't immediately have a small replacement tree for me and Kottman had the nerve to complain about slow payment. I even offered to pay him minus the cost of what the new tree and its planting would be, but he refused, stating he wanted to see the new tree planted, as if I was trying to cheat him or something (!)

DID A GOOD JOB. PRICE WAS REASONABLE FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK DONE.
