clock repair

Description of Work: I purchased a vintage mantel clock, which I knew would require some repair/ maintenance. I researched several businesses on Angie's List and decided to take it for repair/maintenance to Jansen's. The proprietor stated that his clock repair person would examine it and perform the necessary repairs or maintenance to have it run properly. I picked it up approximately 4-5 weeks later as promised by the shop. It was running and everything seemed to be in order. The owner removed the pendulum and readied the clock for transport. My wife held it in her lap for the thirty minute ride home. When I got it home, I carefully placed it on the mantle and prepped it as directed to start it running again. However, I was unable to start it. I called the shop and informed the owner of what had occurred and he instructed me to bring it back to the shop. I did so, and was told that it would be another 4-5 weeks in the shop. As he examined the clock, a loose screw fell out from the housing for the mechanism. The owner did not appear concerned. After 4-5 weeks had passed, the owner notified me that the clock had been repaired and was ready for pickup. I picked up the clock when called by the shop. I again transported the clock home very carefully, and was again unable to get the clock running. It is currently sitting on my mantle and not running. While the owner was very courteous, I lost confidence in the business to repair my clock. I really don't have the funds to take the clock to another repair shop.

Description of Work: They repaired an antique clock that wasn't working and needed some physical repairs as well. The clock now works and the repairs to the body of the clock look good. The repairs ended up being $10 more than quoted, but I didn't quibble because there was a lot of work done and it was done well.

 + -1 moreThey forgot to return my original box for the clock, so I had to make a second trip. It was a minor inconvenience compared to the six trips I made to another clock repair shop who replaced the entire clock mechanism, cost three times as much and never did get the clock to work.
Description of Work: My 30 year-old Ridgeway style key wound Howard Miller clock needed a new spring. They installed new spring in a week and it has worked wonderfully ever since! I would definitely use their services again!
