GARY BROWN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR

My car began to smoke while I was sitting in traffic. I happened to be across the street from Gary Brown automotive so I pulled in. The garage was very busy but I was greeted cordially. The receptionist was very nice and told me I was welcome to wait or leave the car. I did leave the car and was promptly contacted with a description of the problem and an estimate.

I left it mid morning and they were obviously quite busy, and said they would try to fit me in, but made no promises, which I understood having arrived unannounced. Later that afternoon I got a call from the tech who told me the wheel bearing on the right front was shot, a ball, and other suspension parts was worn out, and the work could be done for about $500ish and complete by closing that day. I was amazed. I felt lucky they were able to fit me in.
Due to the age of the car I asked if he thought I should do both sides and he said the other one had been checked and he didnt think it needed to be replaced. I asked him about the shocks, and he checked them and called back and they were pretty worn out (they were original) but not dangerous.
I decided to do the whole thing, but was impressed once again that unlike some shops, they were not trying to pad the bill, and talk me into work that didnt need to be done.
All 4 shocks were done, everything repaired, and they actually called by about 5pm and said if I needed it back they could finish it that day before closing. I was programmed to get it the next day, and picked it up, and it has worked fine ever since.

Good service, no problems with repairs. Cost seems average for the work performed

My old 99 Explorer needed inspection and at 120k on the milage was due for several routine services. The A/C blower motor was also making a racket. I brought the car in mid day and really didn't expect it till the next day. By 530pm they called and said it was done, I was surprised.When I picked it up they had flushed and changed the transmission filter and fluid, did the state inspection, found a mouse nest in the blower, and cleaned it up. I had asked them to check the serpentine belt and to my amazement they checked it and said it still looked good. My past experience with several repair places has been if you mention to look at something, they will change it whether it needs it or not.

I think they are honest, and efficient, I would go back again.

I have always had a good experience working with this company for any repair and/or diagnosis, etc. As stated in the services section, today's visit was due to a problem with parts that were installed about a year ago. They figured it out, had the parts delivered and replaced in a little over an hour. I have brought my cars here for several years. Finding a mechanic that I can trust and does good work was the most important part of choosing a company. The next was finding one that didn't charge an arm and a leg. Gary Brown fits all of these.
