CSM Construction

We were doing laundry at home just like any other day. I walked into the kitchen and noticed water coming through my wall into the kitchen from the laundry room and out of my laundry room door. Water was pouring out from under the washing machine and draining into my air conditioning ducts, down my walls and pouring into my electric panel that powers my house. I contacted CSM right away and they were at my house within 30 minutes. They immediately went to work to remove my items that were getting soaked, testing the walls and floors for moisture, and working to protect us from further damage. They were on the phone immediately with their electrician to ensure our safety. Unfortunately, there was so much water, they had to pull up our floors in our laundry room and part of our kitchen. That night when they left, there wasnt a scrap of flooring or mess for us to clean up. They set up the dehumidifiers and fans to make sure everything was dried out and called each day to check on us. I am very impressed with CSM ensuring they were onsite when the inspector from the insurance company came out. They have done everything they could to keep me as the homeowner from worry and have dealt directly with my insurance just as they have always done with my clients. They have gone over the bid to the insurance company with us in detail to explain their charges, recommendations, and offered to answer any questions we have. The best part about CSM is they are not just the company that handles the restoration, but they also will complete the rebuild of my kitchen. They were here from when the disaster began and are bringing us back to normal again.

That was about a year ago and they have still not finished the work. My roof still leaks, shingles are flying off of the roof, and several thousand dollars’ worth of tools are missing. Even though I have requested an itemized bill several times, they refuse to give me one. They told me originally that I would have to pay $1,700 extra and then they told me randomly that it ended up being $13,000. They won't tell me where the extra $11,000 came from. No matter how many times I call them they will not come and finish the work.

My husband and I spent a lot of money on the floor and not to mention all the aggravation we had to go through. I am advising anyone contemplating a job of this size to try to check as best they can on acquiring a reputable contractor. But again, my advice is not to use this company for anything in the future.

We discovered mold in our half-basement bathroom, and checked with several companies before deciding to go with CSM. CSM started mold removal and remediation in our bathroom, and then discovered more extensive mold damage in another area of the basement. At that point, we came to an agreement with CSM on an extension of the project, as well as the increased price. Over the next couple of weeks, CSM removed the mold from our bathroom and family room, and worked to repair the areas damaged by the mold and the mold removal. I was primarily disappointed by the inaccurate dates that were given to us regarding the completion of the project, and by the initial quality of some of the work that was done. After we had come to an agreement about the expansion of the project, we were given at least three different dates as to when the project would be complete. I believe this was primarily due to miscommunication between the foreman of the project, a couple of the workers, etc... Additionally, there were numerous times during the project where myself or my husband had to ask the workers to either re-do a project (such as tile work in our shower), or had to ask the workers to come back and fix something that was not done correctly the first time. The project ended up taking more than two months to complete. The owner is definitely concerned about the quality of finished work (and walked through our house to inspect the work once) and sent workers back several times. Additionally, the workers were always friendly, and apologetic about mistakes that had been made.
